Flavors rotate. I went with cinnamon today. Huge scoop in waffle cone. UNBELIEVABLE.
Look this is the place for ice-​cream.

Maybe it’s because I’ve worked in a similar environment, but Unilocal nailed my review for me. «Meh, I’ve experienced better.» 2 stars. Late on my review but I came in with a few friends to get an after dinner treat. Customer service was good-​polite kids behind the counter. Ice cream was not the best I’ve ever had. The main reason I am putting down 2 stars is because of the inside of the case. My LORD it is gross to look into it. They have ice cream tubs shoved into every nook and cranny of the ice cream case. Everything else seemed clean but where the ice cream is coming from is my top concern. EXTREME sizing though.

This place is extremely good.
i always get the dirt sundae, because I looooove Oreos, then they give you PLENTY of crushed Oreos and ice cream. This place is almost too good because I want to go there all the time when I know I shouldn’t haha
As soon as you walk in you can smell the fresh, nice ice cream and it’s just a nice cute little place. But since it’s a little ice cream shop, it’s all teenagers working there, and a lot of them won’t give you eye contact while they’re helping you (I’m guessing because they’re going through their ‘awkward’ stage) and it’s hard to know if they’re waiting for you to order or they just don’t notice you’re ready to order, and most of the time they don’t greet you when you walk up to the counter, so that makes it really hard to know if they’re waiting for you or they don’t know you’re ready to order yet. But they’re nice though, just a little awkward.

I’ve been going since I was in the 4^th grade! This place is amazing! The Cinnamon is a classic and I loved their bacon flavor as well, I think that should be on the menu full time!

When they say «Scoops the size of Texas,» they’re not kidding. I got a kiddie cup and it was way too much ice cream. I got the vanilla Oreo which is fantastic. Big chumps of Oreo mixed in. My wife got the cookie dough and enjoyed it as well. The kiddie nutty cone had fresh almonds on it with a great crunch. Very well priced given the amount you get. The plain waffle cones are only $ 1 and the sugar cones are $ 0.45. Can’t beat that! They also have gummy worms in dirt which is pretty awesome!

I’ve been in Plano for more than 10 years and I am surprised that I’ve never been here before. Maybe it’s because the ice cream industry is dominated by bigger brand names like Braum’s, but I am glad that I gave this place a try. The selections were a bit limited (10 – 12 flavors) and some of them didn’t look too delicious (there was a blue one…). I tried a few of the more classic flavors and went with the triple chocolate, which had brownie bites (or maybe chocolate pieces), on a kiddy-​size nutty buddy cone. It was good but I wasn’t AMAZED by it, probably because I’ve been spoiled by the ice cream shops in SF.
One thing I liked about this place is its fancy chairs and tables. The server was nice and I just miss the spaciousness of Texas overall.

Had done a special order of bailey ice cream. Just got a call today after waiting two weeks. When I called back Henry the manager was rude. Told me he called me 3 times and this was the last call. My phone showed only one call ever and that was today. Do not recommend this place due to poor poor customer service and lack of respect when dealing with customers.

Probably the best ice cream in Plano. Generous portions at great value and their own unique flavor offerings. I love their spumoni ice cream, but they have other great flavors that are pretty special and that rotate throughout the year. Like their quirky store too!
I’m docking one star because despite being great ice cream in Plano, I’ve had better ice creams that are richer, more unique/​eclectic, and better quality. They play it fairly safe here with the flavors and quality/​ingredients — probably appeals better to the conservative/​WASP/​family climate of the town — but after having nicer ice creams in urban areas, I’m a little spoiled.

This place is really what I’ve been searching for in the Dallas area. It’s a real ice cream shop, complete with in-​house-​made ice cream with unique and interesting flavors alongside the classics and plenty of classic toppings for a sundae. They sell ice cream cakes and ice cream by the quart or gallon as well.
Service can be spotty it seems. The first time I went, they were busy, and service was abysmal. The second time they were very slow and had plenty of workers. Staff was friendly, but they didn’t know the menu very well (really? There are maybe 6 things on it.) and made a real mess out of my husband’s sundae. I mean real mess — whipped cream and the cherry fell all over the table.
Still, flavors are *very* well done. I compliment them especially on their sweet cream and pumpkin. Both flavors don’t have a lot of funky mix-​ins, so it’s hard to lie about quality on those flavors. They get a big win on both.

Favorite Flavors: Wedding Cake, Rasberry cookie dough, Carrot cake.
I’ve had better mexican vanilla, but it was still tasty.
Never busy when I go in, service is pretty good.

It’s Labor Day and the place was packed.
Only 4 stars because the freezer holding the pints and half gallons was leaking. So there was this big puddle of water in the front of the store without any warning signs or apparent efforts to mop up.
I had a scoop of the chocolate chocolate chip in a waffle cone.
It is very rich and there are so many chocolate chips it seemed an entire Hershey bar had been blended into the ice cream.
It was exactly the treat I was looking for on this hot evening.
For the adventurous the had cayane brownie flavored ice cream. They also offer pints and half gallons of you find a flavor you love.

Good: Great ice cream. Maybe the best in the Metroplex.
Bad: Kids are running the place. There doesn’t appear to be anyone over the age of 18 working here. There is no experienced staff to manage the kids. Often times there are no napkins or spoons available to customers w/​o having to get the attention of an employee. The place isn’t very clean and the outside tables are in disrepair. On a nice night, the lines are super freaking long. We’ve waited an hour for a shake and cone before. That’s unacceptable.
If the ice cream wasn’t so good, I would give them 2 stars.

Spaces to sit inside and outside.

Right off the bat you can tell this place is serious about its ice cream. First walking in there are two wooden cows standing like cerberus waiting to greet you into the lairs of frozen delight. The counter in which you order the ice cream is made of a wood that seems to be ages old. The people working there will greet you with a warming smile and will provide you with great customer service.
Now to the ice cream. I tried several flavors; cinnamon, sea salt caramel, and mint chocolate chip. All of the flavors had an underlying creamy taste that is so smooth. I would recommend each and every one of those flavors. I finally settled on a waffle cone with the sea salt caramel. Perfect. If you like caramel. Go with this because the waffle cone and the ice cream blend like a husband and wife.
I say go here. Get ice cream. You’ll love Henry’s

I’m a bit of an ice cream snob so I was a little skeptical about trying a new place but I am so glad I did! I tried the pralines and Mexican vanilla and they were delicious!

I was in the area craving for some ice cream and wanted to try something new, so of course, I Unilocaled and found Henry’s homemade Ice Cream!
The staff was super friendly and helpful. I probably tried like 5 different sample flavors (which were all very delicious!) I got the chocolate chip cheesecake kiddie size. Did I say kiddie size? because WOWWWW, the kiddie size is HUGE! I was so shocked. I’m wondering how big the other sizes are. LOL
Anyways, next time you’re craving ice cream, you have to try Henry’s! :)

Once again Unilocal contributors made my day! I drove 20 minutes out of my way to get here, so I had high expectations, and was not disappointed… When faced with so many choices, I did what any normal person would do, and ordered a banana split so I could try at least 3. After a painstaking round of option elimination… Award winning strawberry, chocolate Oreo, and toffee was my «final answer». The toffee ice cream is flavorful and specked with chunks of their crispy homemade toffee. The Oreo was as advertised, and the strawberry was very smooth. While I enjoyed them all I was sad when I mowed through the toffee as it disappeared… if I’m able to come back I will likely order 2 scoops it was so good.
My only criticism is that all ice cream is served in styrofoam containers with wooden spoons… I enjoy nicer dishes at places with «dine-​in» accommodations, and prefer choices that don’t harm the environment, but otherwise this was a great experience.
Price was in line, and atmosphere was good as I was able to enjoy a beautiful spring Texas afternoon outside on their patio.
It definitely makes the list, and I’ll have to try to make it back to try the famous butter pecan, it’s one of my favorites, or famed butterscotch… as both were not in stock.

I’ve been meaning to update my review because I was much more impressed the second visit! This time I came with family and was able to share tons of flavors and items including the banana split and one of their sundaes. The service was a lot better as well and I have been recommending this place.
Try the almond ice cream. Fantastic!

Henry’s Homemade Ice Cream is an independent ice cream shop in Plano that hosts a number of classic favorites in addition to seasonal offerings.
My Overall Rating — 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return)
Atmosphere — Located in a strip mall, beyond the sign you’ll find a warm, cozy ice cream shop. There are plenty of seats/​tables, a fridge for take home ice cream and cakes, and some t-​shirts. Of Couse, the star of the shop is their long fridge filled with ice cream and the multiple flavors to choose from. 1 Star.
Service — I can sum up the service in words: HUGE SCOOPS. There were a couple of young girls working with great speed and precision. Since it was my first time there, they gave out samples (big ones too). They were extremely nice, patient, and knew what to recommend. But it wasn’t until I saw the size of my singled scoop order (I said HUGE) that I realized I was in for a big treat. Thanks again girls! 1 Star.
Food — Ice cream must be creamy, and Henry’s certainly is. I went with the seasonal pumpkin (tasted like a pumpkin pie) and it was nicer and smooth. The kids loved their Dinosaur Eggs (it is blue) and the wife went with pecan (a bit sweet). I’d like to come back during the spring/​summer to see what other new flavors the3y have, but to me they have what we wanted. Again, the best part is it was oh so creamy. 1 ½ Stars.
Will I Return? — If I’m in the area. This is a location issue for me, not Henry’s. I’m not in this area enough, but when I can get back out no doubt Henry’s is on my hit list. However, if you live in the area, this is a must visit (but you already knew that). Forget fancy cupcake shops, just give me some darn good ice cream. ½ Star.

1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm.
1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point.
2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food.
1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return.
