Every time I come here i am happy. The service is very friendly, and the dim sum is delicious. My favorite is the shrimp dumpling. We will definitely be back soon!

This location sux, for all those positive reviews, you are posting on the wrong JS Chen restaurant. This location is for 3948 Legacy Dr, Ste 103, Plano, TX75023. The location’s food and service sux. I doubt it’s even related to the other location on the same road, because it would give the other restaurant a bad name. The great Dim sum is at the JS Chen restaurant closer to I 75 at 240 Legacy, Ste 118, Plano, TX75023. . I am sure many people besides myself have made this mistake between the restaurants.

Okay dim sum, but the wait for the food was too long. We finally ordered something off of the menu because there weren’t any food carts coming around. Even the noodles we ordered off of the menu took way too long.

Haven’t been here in a while, under new management, no sight of familiar faces. Red flag #1, they no longer push around the little cart loaded with dim sum, rather you have to order from a menu. What’s dim sum dining without the fun of grabbing piping hot food off a cart?! Red flag #2, saw a server sneeze & then WIPE the snot on her apron. Red flag #3, two out of four dishes we ordered came out cold when they claim everything is made fresh to order. When we complained of food temperature one of the owners told our server to «blast the food in microwave for a few more minutes»!! It’s obvious NOTHING’s made fresh & they simply microwaved ready to eat dim sum. We also waited like 15 minutes just for these first two cold dishes. This is when I finally drew the line and told them I’d pay for the food that we took a bite out of and have them cancel remaining order. They did not apologize and actually accepted payment. What a waste of time and we walked away hungry and beat.

Similar food and service as their Legacy location. Their Steamed Whole Sole Fish is a decent size. It’s steamed with lots of ginger and scallions. Steamed dumplings and Pepper Steak Beef were also decent. After awhile, they all start tasting the same.

‘We decided to try this restaurant after avoiding it for nearly 5 years. The food was cold and not very good. Service was OK. Also, they add a 15% gratuity charge without asking.

I wish I could give a better review because their other locations are good. I ordered 4 entrees and they forgot one. When I called back they said sorry and will take 30 more mins. Well it took over 45 mins. I called and asked if they forgot and the lady said its coming and hung up on me. I paid over $ 50… Not even an apology and next entrée on us. That’s not right. So JSCHEN… You get 2 stars and lucky I didn’t give you 1.

Their Dim Sum is ok, but you must really try the Crab Fried Rice there. It’s a huge order and worth it. They have your typical Chinese BBQ food, which is ok too.

Not bad. A good place to go for a quick fix for dim sum. But be warned … I’ve gone 4 times now and have yet to see fried shrimp balls come out. Waited for an hour once and still none. it’s a damn unicorn there

So nice. So fast. So delicious. We opted for kids teriyaki chicken(good, but doesn’t come with the veggies the adult description has) and the sesame chicken(Wednesday special buy one sesame chicken get second for $ 3.99). Sesame chicken was lightly fried, lightly tossed in the sauce and an enormous amount(would have liked more broccoli). We can’t wait to try the Peking duck or dim sum next time.

We order from J.S. Chens a few times a month and love it. It’s a convenient location and the price is reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. We have never dined in, but carry out service is always quick and they have always gotten our orders correct. Our go to favorites are the sweet and sour pork/chicken, sesame chicken, and their combination fried rice. However, we have never been disappointed with any of the dishes we have tried. If you like a lot of soy sauce, make sure you ask for extra at the counter. They typically give you one packet per dish you order, so if you like more, ask. They don’t have them sitting out for you to grab your own. The service has always been good for us. We have never had any issues, encountered any rudeness, or been forced to tip a specific percentage. Great food and nothing but great experiences so far! Definitely recommended for great local carry out Chinese food.

Decided to try this place after living in the area for years. Simple American style Chinese food at its best, with plenty of vegetarian options. The vegetarian clay pot and flat rice noodles will have me returning soon. Thanks so much!

This place is OK. Some of the food is definitely authentic, I just think it lacks flavor and quality. Not every homemade dish is in this world is good.

My friends and I were craving dim sum after yoga and this was the first place that came to mind. The dim sum scene in DFW is nothing to be excited about, but I have to be grateful that we have places like JS Chen and Kirin Court to satisfy our cravings. Upon our arrival, I noticed the restaurant was small and cramped. The restaurant is not very clean, but service was fast! As soon as we sat down, a waiter came by to take our tea order. In a matter of seconds, we were sipping on our tea with the dim sum cart at our table. Salivating over every dish, we ordered whatever she had on her cart(about 6 dishes). Another lady came over with her cart and we ordered 3 more. Then comes dessert.. .yes, we are pigs. I think I waited a good 10 – 15 minutes before I felt somewhat digested to eat my red bean donut(nom nom nom). Although I left with a full stomach, I can’t say it was a satisfying meal(except for the dessert). Any other suggestions for dim sum, Unilocalers?

Ordered dinner from here Sunday night. This is about our third time ordering from them. Each time something is amiss but not worth spending the effort to write about it. Well, three strikes and you’re out… We waited an hour for our food. Finally arrives and one of the bags leaked throughout, so there was sauces mixed with sauces. Just a mess! My $ 12 «large» shrimp and scallops dish had(3) small shrimp and(1) scallop among some slimy onions. To add insult to injury, the«special ginger sauce» was catsup based. Are you friggin serious man? Hot n sour soup was dreadful. Whatever, the whole meal was. Just sloppy and poor quality. Never. Effing. Again! Worst $ 43 + $ 5 tip ever spent. I should had spent the extra $ 10, got in the car and picked up PeiWei. Spend my money well JS Chen…

Pretty good for dinner. Another pretty standard Chinese food place. My parents often get take out from here when they get home late and are too tired to cook. The meals here are all really good from my experience, although they can be a bit pricey. We usually order something from the beef/sea food menu and something from the hotpot(or in chinese, bao) menu(which is more like soup than actual hotpot). The beef/sea food dishes here are really good, especially the seafood bao’s! I would definitely recommend this place to friends who come by.

I wish I could deliver a better review because the staff here so nice, but the slow service and room temperature dim sum items makes this location a no-no. Go to the other location or you’ll regret it! I can’t exactly say all of the bad luck was because I was seated in a corner table. The carts only came around once and then stopped. It wasn’t just my table either because I was watching everyone else like a hawk with a rumbling tummy. Stationary dim sum carts make me cry. The char siu pork was cold, gai lan was cold, the filling in the char siu bao didn’t have a lot of meat, har gow was wet/soggy…need I continue? If you’re absolutely desperate and don’t want to drive further, then drive further.

Looks like they’ve recently redone the interior and it looks amazing. We came here for chinese new years dim sum. It was quite busy and the tables were really close together. The layout definately isn’t conducive to dim sum. We asked for the har gao and it was quite soggy. It also had a strange aftertaste. We had to voice our concerns and the owner made us feel really guilty about it. After that debacle happened she finally comped the har kow. Except she tried to pull a fast one. She comped the small dim size. The har kow we ordered was a medium item. If you haven’t been to dim sum; the only difference is the cost. The other items like shui mai where tasty. They were as how i would expect them to taste. Overall, not sure if i really want to go back. Food was just mediocre.
