Mr. Hulett and his staff helped me with a messy divorce and custody issue. They handled my case and all of my requests expeditiously and at a fraction of the cost that many of my friends paid for the same service. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr. Hulett for any family law matter.

I hired Eric to represent my niece in a child custody dispute. I wish I had read Dustin T’s review because I’m experiencing the exact same kind of dis-​service. Initially, he was very positive and gung-​ho about being able to get everything my niece was looking for. He screwed up his case filing and I had to correct him on several key points, which he was already aware of. He just does not pay attention to detail, like which county she was currently residing in. On the actual court date, he pretty much caved on what should have been a slam dunk. Now 3 months later, countless calls, emails, texts, attempts to see him at his office and no response. It’s like the guy fell off the face of the earth. I’ve filed a grievance with the state bar association in an attempt to get a response from him, but don’t hold much hope.
Unfortunately, 1 star is the lowest Unilocal allows me to give him, otherwise it would be a big fat 0. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

Absolutely the worst attorney I have ever dealt with! After promising my wife and I that he would be able to handle all of our needs in our child custody case, we agreed to pay the nonrefundable retainer to get Eric started as we believed that he would be able to deliver on his word. We were very excited when we left his office after the consultation as we were finally going to get the process in action to help protect our children. But, unfortunately our initial excitement was very misplaced as we would never hear from Eric again regarding the progress of our case. After a few weeks with no contact from Eric, we tried calling several times, sending multiple emails and even tried to catch him at his office to obtain any information on our case with no success, we attempted to reestablish contact with Eric using the Texas Bar CAAP (Client-​Attorney Assistance Program). CAAP attempted to contact Eric by phone, email and certified letter, but he also chose not to respond to their attempts. After CAAP pretty much told us we are now on our own dealing with this guy, I sent another certified letter informing Eric that his services were no longer required as we did not believe he had our best interest in mind. I also requested that he return our documents and refund any remaining amount of the retainer we paid. Several days after receiving the receipt from the post office showing that the certified latter had been delivered, but not receiving our documents, refund or any contact from Eric, I decided to take a day off work and go to his office once again. I was in luck on this surprise office visit as I was able to catch Eric on his way in and confront him. Eric immediately apologized, admitting that he messed up, had done no actual work on our case (four months after our consolation) and owed me some money. Eric stated that the reason he had done no work on our case was because he original thought he could handle it, but after a little research discovered that he actually could not handle this case. If after a little research he discovered that he could not handle the case then way did he not inform us of this, ignore our request for information on our case for four months and keep our money?! Before leaving Eric’s office he promised that he would refund our money and have it sent out by the end of the month. Well, the end of the month has now come and long gone with no refund nor contact from Eric. I have again tried to contact Eric regarding the refund by email, phone and fax with no reply. Maybe it is my need to believe that most people are inherently good that impeded this conclusion, but it has now become clear that Eric has and maybe never had any intentions to act professionally and do the right thing. My only recourse now is to file a claim in small claims court (more time off work) and sue for my money! On top of all of this, we still have not made any progress in our case. Needless to say, DO NOT HIRE ERIC HULETT!

I wish that I could rate negative stars. He is the most unresponsive person I have ever met in my life, which is a terrible trait in an attorney. Because of his lack of communication and effort, he never informed me of a court date and I missed it which really hurt my case. If you are considering Mr. Hulett, I would highly recommend looking somewhere else, you will need to hire another attorney anyway.
