Probably the most pathetic food of all 3 Sabzi Mandi stores. I have been there twice but regretted both times and have now promised to never go back. First time, I ordered a South Indian Thali since it was on «Today’s Special» along with Veggie Biryani. First annoyance was that I had to wait 25 minutes, and secondly, they over-charged me for the Biryani and I had to point it out. But these are not the reasons I regretted my visit, the reasons were more to do with mediocre taste and 3 out of 7 – 8 to-go containers for the Thaali containing plain yogurt. The biryani was pretty bland as well. I was expecting the same quality of Biryani as the other two Sabzi Mandis but it wasn’t even half as good. I don’t know why I went there for the second time. All I can say is I was stupid. I ordered a «Jaipur Dosa» and a «Samosa Chaat». I ordered these to-go and sat there on the table. After 25 minutes a guy came and asked me are you waiting on something. I told him yes my order of this and this. He asked the lady at the counter and she said yeah everything is ready. After saying this she brought a plate of chickpeas from the kitchen and make my samosa chaat right there, without a samosa. Yes, there was no samosa in my samosa chaat. Rather it was filled with chopped onions and tomatoes. It was spicy but without a flavor. I could taste the chopped chilli pepper with every bite. The dosa was a disappointment as well. Fortunately or unfortunately, I had tried Dosa at Hot Breads a day earlier and loved it’ hence I thought of trying the dosa here. But what they gave me was a very soft and soggy dosa with no filling inside at all. All it had inside was some kind of chutney. Never ever going back there again!

This is a new Café style restaurant opened inside Subzi Mandi in Plano. They serve a mix of North and South Indian dishes as well as Indian street foods(Chaat). They also have a «thali» special which includes small portion of 2 – 3 curries along with rice, naan and salad. The food is tasty and comes out quickly. For now they have both a Punjabi and a South Indian cook in the kitchen to concentrate on their specialty areas. A good place for Lunch! Once done, you can always get into the grocery side of the establishment for Indian grocery.
