Saltgrass Steakhouse I am very picky about my steaks, not because I am very knowledgeable about them but steaks generally don’t appeal to me. I view it as just the same taste over and over. Although that being said I have had a couple of steaks at various restaurants that each bite was so flavorful this suddenly seemed like a meaningless problem. We went to Saltgrass for one of my cousins birthdays so there was about 7 of us at the table. We didn’t order an appetizers but they provide bread for you to snack on so off course I took some of that. The bread was really warm and fluffy so we devoured both baskets and the additional two they provided. All of us then ordered our dishes from various types of cooks such as medium to rare, etc. I had the Texas T-Bone and unfortunately it did not match the description at all of being one of the Great Steak of Texas. Multiple people on the table took a bite of mine and we all came to the consensus that it was very dry and had nearly no flavor to every bite. I hat gotten it medium as I normally get all my steaks and was thoroughly unimpressed. I also had the sweet potato fries as my side and literally some of them were burnt so let’s say I didn’t really eat that many of them. On the other hand, my sister had the Pat’s Ribeye and I tried that and it was much better. She had gotten it medium as well but there was just a lot more flavor and the tenderness was just right. Finally my brother had gotten the Steak K-Bomb and I would say among all the dishes I had tried this was my favorite. He also had the mac n cheese as one of his sides and although being super cheesy as you would expect it still tasted phenomenal. Unfortunately despite it being my cousins 21st birthday the restaurant didn’t do any complimentary dessert or something so don’t come here if you want that birthday type of experience.

This place was amazing. The characteristics that immediately caught my eye was the fast service, great food, and interesting ambiance. Of course everyone knows that I am a sucker for seafood. I ordered the seafood Fondeaux. This appetizer came with garlic bread. Although, I’m not a bread man, the garlic bread was great. I ordered the salmon with crab meat, garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus, and mixed veggies! Freaking yum! The main reason I’ll come back is mainly because of the drinks!!! I had the«Corona/Rita». Typically in DC, they are around $ 18+. In Dallas, they are $ 10.50… WINNING! The food, the service, and the drinks were GREAT! I highly recommend!!!

Very disappointed. Chef doesn’t seem to know what medium well means. Got medium rare first, sent it back, then got well done. At that point I was already the only person not eating at my table so I just sucked it up and ate the damn thing. Chewy as it was. The shrimps were good and so was the rice. Checkout could have been a little smoother and faster.

Other visits rate MUCH higher! Still regulars and still love the food and servers. Just a bad night for me, them, placement, etc. Moved after initial seating which caused confusion in servers so our drinks/orders took longer. Moved to a table too close to the service path. My coat was kicked several times till I moved it to another chair. A loose board behind my chair rocked me back every time one of the«larger» servers cut the corner too close behind my chair. Noise was ridiculous and a couple of loud servers increased it rather than controlled it. Food was still great and delivered fresh and hot and exactly as ordered. I’ve been a Landry’s Select member for many years(great benefits for frequent diners! — birthday $ 25 credit, etc.). My primary complaint last night was about how the Landry’s Select credits show on the bill! They slightly reduce the cost of items, rather than a normal presentation of the Gross Amount, then offset with the $ 25 discount. Instead it presented the total as $ 41 and no way to tell the original Gross Amount on which to base the tip. The«Tip suggestion» did show the 20% etc. off of the $ 65 total, but NOT the best presentation of the bill, so servers are probably getting shorted by those who don’t notice like I did. The store can’t help this! CORPORATE needs to change this.

So I am writing this about 3 weeks after attempting to dine here. I figured some time to reflect might allow me to be more objective. Turns out there is no cooling down period for terrible food and worse management. So I have been looking for an alternative to Texas Roadhouse since their quality has been on the decline. Decided to give Saltgrass a try. My girlfriend and I both ordered rare ribeye steaks. We both received medium ribeye steaks. Ten minutes after I cut into my steak, I was finally able to flag down the manager. My girlfriend spoke up first about her steak being overcooked. It was clearly medium, no question. Hot pink center. The manager apologized, grabbed her steak, and disappeared back to the kitchen. I didn’t even have a chance to tell her my steak was also overcooked. When they brought back her new steak, I told the lady mine, too, was overcooked, so she apologized and took it away. I asked the girlfriend how her new steak was and she said it was definitely rare, but that she didn’t really like it. She usually orders her steaks Pittsburgh rare because she likes the char, so I figured she was just being picky. When I got my steak I saw what she was talking about. My steak was seared for a few seconds on each side and sent to the table. The fat was still solid and coagulated. The steak was firm with white marbling. As in NOTEVENCOOKED. I always order my steaks rare. I send my steaks back if they are medium rare. I am fully aware of the difference between a rare steak, a medium rare steak, and an uncooked steak. When I caught this, I looked over at her steak, cut into it, felt it. Hers was also uncooked, and now half eaten. I explained to the manager the situation and she offered to have them throw it back on the grill. I told her at this point i would rather just box up the steaks to go and cook them myself. She said she couldn’t let me do that, but offered again to cook them longer. By this point I was ready to go, so I asked for our check. We each ordered a steak meal, which came with a side and a salad. I think it was $ 18 – 20 each. I also had a couple of drinks and an appetizer. When I got the bill, the only adjustment was $ 15 for my steak. We were charged for everything else! Seriously? I’m not the kind of person who demands free food when the slightest thing goes wrong. In fact, I never demand anything. If a restaurant makes things right, I give them another shot at my business. Saltgrass did the opposite. They served me an inedible entrée and then insisted that I pay for the salad and side! My girlfriend(unknowingly) ate half an uncooked steak, only to have half of it taken away and then pay full price for it! I will not spend another penny of my money here.

Good taste steak and reasonable price. The ribeye is very tender. All my family like it. Will come back again.

Great Steaks… no steak sauce needed. Steaks were cooked perfectly to desired temperature and well seasoned. Last night I ordered the Queso Fresco for appetizer. It’s cheese dip with brisket, pico & Jalepano. Very delicious. Entrée wise I had the surf & turf — a 10 oz Ribeye with shrimp. I chose bacon wrapped shrimp. I could not eat it all and enjoyed every bite. Francesco, our waiter, was fast and friendly. Very knowledge or menu and provide great service. He kept the warm Shiner Bock Bread fresh on our table and our glasses full. Will be back.

Service: depending on your luck you might get some really good ones and others so-so. overall 3 stars. There was one incident which really upset me where they start charging me for extra sauce on my steak. I told them that they didn’t specify how many ozs on the menu. Since I already paid extra on the sauce, I should be able to get more… not like I am getting a gallon of it… duh… Food: I usually order the ribeye, pepper crusted with cognac sauce and my wife orders the ribs. As for the side, Loaded Sweet Potato is really good. Don’t order their Philly Cheesesteak… meat portion is small

Great food, fun ambience! Service wasn’t stellar but nothing was really lacking. We had a great time and everyone enjoyed their meals. We would definitely go back.

Who doesn’t like a nice, juicy steak from time to time? Well, I know I do which is why I decided a family trip to Saltgrass Steak House was in order. Since it was later on a Wednesday night there was no wait for a table and we were seated immediately. Our server took the drinks order almost straight away after asked who wanted water. I must say, it’s nice to have the option then we’re not cluttering up the table with unnecessary glasses. We refused appetizers since none of us were really that hungry though the fried onions have always been good in the past. I went for the NY Strip, my parents had the smothered sirloin, my son will always be happy to have ribs and a baked potato and my wife had… erm, steak of some sort. The drinks took a little longer to come out than expected, however we were left with some bread to munch on while waiting. When the food came out, everything looked good. I know everyone enjoyed theirs. I was a little disappointed in the lack of taste on the strip steak, could have done with some more seasoning. The loaded baked potato was certainly loaded. Now, one of my pet peeves is being asked if I have left room for dessert when I’m not even half way through my meal. Restaurants hate desserts, people take up table time and there’s very little margin of profit on them, but I’d rather finish eating and then determine if I have room for dessert rather than trying to predict half way through the meal. Overall, the family had a good time and we were all satisfied in the end. Hold off the dessert request, a little quick on the beverages, and some more seasoning on the steak would have probably raised my experience to a 4 star.

Pretty good consistent food at Saltgrass and the staff is always amazing. I had the chicken austin and my coworker had the chicken with cheese and avocado melted on top. Both were delicious. Huge portions for $ 16.99! They were very accommodating with our modifications!

I just ate a late lunch here with my father for Fathers Day. The manager was rude and ruined our evening. The bartenders also were very unkind. Our server Chris did a great job but we will never be back. Worst managed place ever.

Second time going to Saltgrass Steakhouse. This time it was for a special occasion and so I did get a little more than what I usually would get. The steak I had was prepared just like I ordered and the service was fine too, from the fact I got there 30 minutes till closing. If you haven’t been there, it’s by far not a upscale steakhouse, but it’s quality is above average when it comes to food quality, affordability, and service.

We had family in town from New York and one chose to take them to Salt Grass for dinner one evening. Once we arrived we were told the wait was 40 minutes which was understandable as it was. Saturday evening. So I made my way too the bar to order a few drinks to entertain our guest while we waited for our table. I waited 10 minutes at the bar and was never greeted nor acknowledged. I final wanted my hand literally to the bar tender who was just chatting with a coworker at the other end of the bar. So after I ordered our drinks the table was ready earlier than expected. So we made our way to the table and waited for 10 minutes before a waiter even came to the table. I could go on and on but bottom line the service here was terrible. The food was decent but with service like this I would much rather go to another steak house. There are several local steak places that taste better and are a much better value. I would highly recommend«The Keg» down the street over this place. We all work hard for our money and we deserve much better than this as consumers. I hate to be so negative but it needs to be said.

I so desperately wanted to give another star but for the waitress in the bar area, she was not very responsive. Now I know you are saying, «well you sat in the bar area to eat dinner so what do you expect?» Well, a water refill for starters. I certainly know and expect the difference between main dining and bar dining but this waitress was just not equip to be of value add. She rushed our order, delivered our food and was GONE. Never to acknowledge is agin until we walked up to the bar to get water and then again when we walked up to the bar to get a to go container and the check. We still tipped but was much less than what we could have. The food was good and fresh, hence the four star intend minus one star for the inept waitress.

We eat at Brio like once a month, we even held our daughter’s christening party and some anniversaries there too. And for our 15th wedding anniversary(today, 12.08) we said we’d like to try and eat somewhere else. That’s where Salt Grass comes in. My wife had been planning for days where we’d eat out for our special day. Long story short, my wife and I ordered two different steaks and my kids ordered mac and cheese and cheeseburger. When the steak came, I was like«that’s it?» My steak came with the steamed veggies I ordered as side and just by looking at it, it didn’t look appetizing nor deliciously inviting. My wife’s steak came with baked potatoes, which again, didn’t look delicious. When I tasted my food, it was a bit bland to me and the veggies were again, bland. My wife and I said«The food here sucks and they have the same price as Brio’s? Unbelievable!» We both said, as we got into the car going home, that’s the last time we’d eat here and won’t even recommend this place. We’re so disappointed with the food for a special night we have. Olive Garden is way much better than this place for the food taste and is even way cheaper.

Good but $ 20 for a salad and glass of wine seems excessive. The steak had no flavor and the salad was not the best(Snappy SAlad was actually better) The BREAD however was AMAZING. I probably would just order the bread to go next time. :) The honey butter was pretty good. BUT again totally overpriced for what you get. I did take it to go so maybe in the service and food is better when you dine in. I wil try it again but not going to get the steak salad.

The steaks were great salads were great However the thickening rue that was used in the seafood fondue had so much flour you could cut it. I always look forward to the seafood fondue and I was extremely disappointed today.

Everything about my experience was good, except they need to stop saying their soups are homemade. They taste like they are from the can and as much as I cook AND as much as I eat out, I know homemade soup when I taste it. We got the steak soup and it tasted like Campbells. Everything else was excellent. My steak and shrimp were cooked to perfection. The customer service was very good. I love this location for a weekend lunch
