I echo Margo’s issues. So far, I have paid $ 1600OOP and gotten nothing. I am told I need repeated consults and nothing is done. I have Delta Dental Ins and confirmed with insurance, Dr. Sowell’s website, and receptionist that they take that insurance and are in network. Today the receptionist said they are not in network and pulled more shady BS about their billing practices. In addition, the staff is rude and condescending. They have screwed up booking THREE times and are extremely poor communicators. It is clear that patients are just a dollar sign to Dr. Sowell. Today, when meeting with him, he referred to my husband as my brother, and said it was great to meet me(we have met more than once, and he’s done other dental work on me). He then proceeded to ask the same questions the hygienist asked and same questions we reviewed last time. For how much money they demand for their services, I would expect a competent and polite staff with legitimate billing practices. And a doctor who takes at least some time to review a patient file before meeting them. Completely dissatisfied and disappointed.

Dr. Sowell’s office managers continue to be the least helpful, rudest staff I’ve encountered. As previously stated, the way the file and deal with insurance is really shady. So it’s 6 weeks later, and Dr. Sowell’s office has received my insurance’s reimbursement check. The insurance company mailed it to them DAYS after my appointment. Dr. Sowell’s office refuses to mail it to me. Seriously. Not only do they now have my $ 500, they have an additional $ 146 from my insurance company. If this is how they deal with a measly teeth-cleaning patient, I can’t imagine how they try and steal money from patients looking to fix cosmetic issues.
