The Unilocal check-in deal was nice, but this isn’t really«Shaved Ice» as much as it is just a «Snow Cone». We were a bit disappointed when the«Cherry Cola» flavor we picked just ended up being half the cup with Cola flavor and the other half being Cherry flavor. Be sure to get napkins if you plan on eating in the car — it can make a mess because the ice is piled so high.

Shaved ice is something you really can’t mess up, but these guys do exceptionally well. They make their own full-bodied syrups that don’t have the overwhelming flavor of sugar in them. That being said, my palate was pretty worn out by the time I got halfway through my regular sized cup of snow($ 2.50). That just means I’ll go with the tiny size($ 2) from now on. There’s a ton of variety here that will keep you coming back all summer. For dog owners, there’s even shaved ice with chicken broth and peanut butter poured on top!

I went to the University of Texas at Austin for my undergraduate, and after playing a hard Sunday’s worth of IM sports, we would trek over to the nearby Sno Beach for a tall refreshing cup of Hawaiian ice. Coming back to Dallas, I often wondered where the good times went, but now I can get that same melt-in-your-mouth experience(keyword: melt-in-your-mouth) after a hard Sunday’s worth of soaping and scrubbing at the Spring Creek Car Wash where it is located. They’ve got a wide variety of flavors and toppings you can add. Try your ice with even a scoop of ice cream! This little place reminds me so much of the trailer parks where they serve a variety of outdoor food. I only wish that it would be located in a less-conspicuous area so more people can appreciate the heavenly delight of real Hawaiian ice. But then again, you always had to dig for these places anyway.
