I’ve been waiting all month for this day to get here so I could try The Great Australian Meat Pie Company Truck. I was planning on purchasing the curry chicken pie, but they didn’t have it today so I went with the chicken pot pie. It looked and smelled delicious, but the looks were deceiving. I took a bite and it tasted like they had put an entire box of salt in it. I then tried one of the carrots. It too was salty and way undercooked. So, I’ve taken maybe 3 bites of it and the rest is going in the trash. It was a complete waste of $ 10.

My company brought this food truck out today and they pd for half of our meals. I ordered the sheppard pie. It was ok. Ive never had it before. needed salt maybe? It was Ok for $ 6 thank god I didn’t have to pay full price $ 12 for that though. The whole time the guy inside was cussing at the work staff. and I guess he got mad because ppl were changing their order and yelled out(I only got the end) «rude ass employees for changing their order» Um. I’m sorry but you don’t talk to customers like that. Anyway, heard the sheppard pie is better from cheese cake factory. :)

I had the Asian Invasion, which was described as a wonton crust filled with Asian inspired veggies and chicken. What I got was something my 10 year old would concoct. You know those La Choy crispy noodle things you throw in food to make it crunchy? Well, the take away box consisted of about 2″ of those, followed by a mess of English style peas with a few water chestnuts, baby corn, and mushrooms, doused in a sauce so salty that it made my lips hurt and required I drink 4.520 Oz bottles of water at work, and then topped off with dumplings(what? Who did anything about dumplings?) and more of those crispy fried noodles. Where’s my wonton crust? Where’s my Asian inspired veggies(95% peas and 5% water chestnuts, baby corn, and mushrooms does not an Asian veggie mix make)? Where’s my chicken? How the heck did those dumplings get in there? Was there any flavor at all besides salt? Where’s the pie part? And for $ 10? Highway robbery. I ate the dumplings, the baby corn, ate 2 of the 3 mushrooms, and picked out as much water chestnut as I could to eat. I probably ate 25% or less of this box of salt and still managed to get way, way too much salt! Bottom line: Stay far, far away. This place is a horrible waste of $ 10, calories, and your lunch time.

I tried a variety of their Shepherd’s Pie last week. The Australian gentleman below has some legitimate criticisms – when I heard«meat pie» I was expecting something a bit more self-contained than a stew with a square of puff pastry placed on top after the fact. But he’s also right that the flavors are great. I think there might be a hair too much salt, but it’s delicious all the same, and that puff pasty might look like an afterthought, but it’s light and flaky and complements the whole thing quite well. It’s not perfect, but I’ll be having it again.

I am Australian and I drove 24 miles to attend an event the truck was as. I am not going to bash the food at all as it was very flavorful. I will however say it is not at all want I expected. A meat pie traditionally is infused with the ingredients making it a pocket of sorts with a pastry exterior. This had steak dumped on the bottom of a take away box then 2 square pastries on top then topped with shredded cheese. This is not a meat pie. Also at $ 10 a piece, I won’t be back.

Had their sampler basket. Small basket. All deep fried, previously frozen food; cheese sticks, jalapeño poppers, macaroni & cheese and pot stickers. Seriously for $ 10??? Pass on this one.
