Drove up, had a very short wait, $ 10 for the car and I. Easy to load on to and unload off. Boat was very stable. Street access to ferry launches was well marked both directions from VT as well as NY. Saw an awesome sunset from the deck. Nice respite from driving.

I’m a country kid — grew up in a town called Wheatfield, for heaven’s sake — and taking the Lake Champlain Ferry thrilled me to death. My sister and I took a road trip with her kids to Plattsburgh, NY and decided to take the kiddos to Vermont for the day. We were insanely excited to ride the Ferry over to Vermont. The people who sell the tickets were very friendly and although there isn’t much communication when loading the Ferry, the hand gestures were adequate enough for us to know what we were doing and to not feel frustrated. We couldn’t believe how many cars and trucks they loaded on the Ferry. The ride across took about 15 minutes and unloading the Ferry was quick and efficient. It was quite an experience for these country kids — we loved it!

What a terrific way to cut to VT from upper NY. We rode the ferry over to the island on our way to Burlington. It was April and it was interesting to see the ice on the lake. $ 14 for the car and two of us!
