Coming from Boston visiting family, the sandwiches here brought me home. I enjoyed the sandwich a lot, it was delicious and fresh. I also enjoyed small town soda which was a treat. Highly recommend this place!

I can’t rave enough about this place! My husband and I stopped in at least four times over the course of our two days in Plattsmouth. The place was a bar for 103 years and was bought and turned into a café ten years ago. It’s just adorable both inside and out. The antiques and décor are charming and the atmosphere is perfect! On our first visit, we tried the Italian cream sodas. I got pineapple/coconut(the best!) and my husband got raspberry. The cream on top was nice and thick(and as the owner pointed out, very Instagram-worthy!). That night we came back for dessert and shared a huge banana spit. The next day we came for lunch and were surprised at how great the food was, since it seemed more like a soda/dessert place. I got the Italian special and my husband got a panini. They were both SOGOOD. My favorite part was that they had sprouts instead of lettuce. Finally, we brought some friends to our new favorite place that night and were not disappointed. As we predicted, they fell in love with it immediately! We had paninis, a peppermint shake, chocolate malts, and a hot fudge sundae. Everything was great! To be honest, what sold us actually wasn’t the food, but the owners. Each time we came in(except the last time which was busiest) she chatted with us and gave us tons of recommendations for places to check out over our weekend getaway. By our last stop she was jokingly greeting us as «her new best friends.» The best part is that it’s only a few minutes from Bellevue(twenty from Omaha). We’ve already made plans to stop by every few weeks, and it’s definitely made a list of spots to take out-of-town visitors. Make the drive down; you won’t regret it!

Great little old-fashioned sandwich and soda shop in a historic building. The lunch specials are always amazing and creative, the staff is very friendly and the décor is perfect! This place is a jewel in the middle of nowhere!

I ate here for lunch. The staff was very nice and the food was good but service was very slow. It took about about a half hour to get a soup and sandwich and the place wasn’t even busy. Sandwich had mayo though I requested no mayo. A little expensive for the amount of food you get.

Splendid meals with pleasant décor and friendly fun staff. A regular for me. No grill and no deep fryer… plan on something a bit more complex and tasty than traditional café. The Reuben panning is a favorite of mine!

I ate lunch here yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The panini sandwich that I had was excellent, and the salad was very good and not just the typical iceberg that most places have. It’s a mom n pop place, just like other reviewers mentioned, and the owners were extremely nice and friendly. I can’t wait to go back to sample the ice cream soda fountain items!

Great classic sandwich and soda shop with friendly staff. It’s a mom n pop place. They do a lot with a limited kitchen space. This is not the place if you are in a hurry. But, if you have an hour, the ambience, character, service and good food are a worth investors stop. Top your visit with a hand scooped sundae with your. Voice of several toppings. Love it.

The River House now does dinners on the first Friday of every month, in addition to their usual lunch hours. My parents have been regulars at the dinners for months, and invited us to join them this month, giving us the excuse we needed to try it. They change the menu every month, but this time it was flatbread pizza(our favorite was the pesto and chicken sausage; the Thai Chicken was also pretty good) and just as delicious as their panini sandwiches, though the service was achingly slow because they lack a proper restaurant oven and were having to cook one pizza at a time. Past dinner menus my mom has mentioned include enchiladas and corned beef and cabbage. To be on the safe side, plan to spend awhile if you go, but the food is worth it and the service always extremely friendly.

This place rocks! Great food and an antique soda fountain. Not much room though, but they double as an antique shop. They serve normal sandwiches, and panini’s, & chips, a lots of different soda fountain stuff. Check it out!
