Wonderful food. Good company to talk too. Great price. Real Mexican food. I’m local and Mexican. I know Mexican food from Mexico. The way my mother cooked it.

The is a nice whole in the wall place, down the road from where I live. The owner is very friendly and helpful and cooks absolutely wonderful authentic Mexican food. There are also other choices too. Small grocery store so you can get sodas, ice cream etc. A very pleasant atmosphere and small town feeling.

While driving to the nearby Bodelaine Santuary Trails I was searching for some food, having just exited an airplane. Not knowing the area at all I left feeling quite lucky having stumbled across this place. It is nothing to look at and quite honestly I wasn’t sure it was open much less not likely to fall down. From the outside it looks like a wooden shack. The signage is old and faded, signs on the door are hand printed and tearing. Not until I got to the door did I see the notification that their phone number has changed. DON’T LET the fact that you can’t reach them by phone keep you from visiting. This is not an elegant restaurant that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve 5 stars. It’s very clean, service is efficent, the owner is very friendly. The food is «home-cooked», hot, tastes great, comes in good portions at a great price. Off the beaten path, worth the trip if you’re hungry and not going to get all wadded up about what it’s not, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I would classify this is one of those«whole in the wall places» you DON’T want to miss. I live down the road about 10 minutes and I am glad I found this place. The food is absolutely terrific. When sitting there waiting for your food, the cook/owner is very nice and she has great vision for her establishment. The portions are huge and the quality is fantastic.

I am fortunate to work around the way from this great little café. This is a family run place that serves delicious food. It is open for breakfast and lunch, I’ve been eating lunch here in a weekly basis for the past few months. I always get the mexican food, even though a lot of the other patrons order burgers and fries. The burritos, tamales, tacos and enchiladas are good, not exceptional; the albondigas(meatball soup) is incredible – I always order it if it’s on the menu. They have other specialties I’ve yet to try and I am looking forward to this. The family that runs the Pleasant Grove General Store and Café are really friendly. They grow most of the ingredients that go into the tasty homemade salsas they serve. It’s worth the trip to this little gem in the rice fields north of Sacramento.
