Traveling back to northern Illinois from Florida and found this diner, good find. Staff very friendly and helpful. My husband had the chicken livers and was a very generous portion and fried to perfection. My grilled cheese with tomato was very tasty. Would stop here again!

Great local place. The service is wonderful and prices are fair. I would recommend the chicken or catfish dinner. I have had it where some of the sides were served cold as if they have been sitting out for a while. Overall a nice place for a quick meal with the family.

Oh my gosh! I can’t say enough good things about this place! We came here after walking out of the Mexican place a few doors down so to rude service … And I am so happy we did the service was awesome very nice respectful and fast. My husband ordered a burger which I guess wasn’t really season much and he asked the waitress if he could change it. The manager himself then remade it and he(my husband) said it was great so A+ for making a not so major situation into a fanominal one! Otherwise food was great and the price was reasonable I have to to say I tried a milkshake which I honestly believe may be the best one I have ever had … Over all we will be back we were very please with everything

I came here with a group from work for lunch. It was one of the first freezing cold days of winter and all I wanted was coffee. Their coffee was wonderful plus they serve it in huge mugs rather than the itty bitty mugs you get at places such as ihop. For lunch I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich. It was good but not enough buffalo for my taste. If you like spicy food ask for extra hot sauce. Service was great. Very friendly. The look of the diner was very neat and vintage looking with the black and white tile throughout. The tables are also spaced apart enough to where you don’t feel like you’re on top of each other. I look forward to going back and trying other meals!

They don’t serve breakfast! The menu is small! I’m not impressed and frankly annoyed that I went out of my way to eat there. I don’t recommend it at all!

Had a late lunch today coming from town and stopped by for a homemade burger instead of the local chains. We had the ½ lb cheeseburger and the patty melt with cheese and grilled onions. Both were cooked exactly as we ordered, juicy, and flavorful. The tater tots were a nice change of pace, and the yummy fried strawberry roll with ice cream and fresh strawberry purée was a novel twist on strawberry shortcake. Service was quick and friendly. Next we’ll try the Friday Night Catfish Night and the Saturday Night Prime Rib. Prices are very reasonable.

I believe in giving restaurants second chances, and although my first visit at the beginning of the year left me underwhelmed by Pleasant View Village Diner. Since others had spoken of improvement, I decided it was time to try again. Sad to say, I was even less impressed on this visit. Where to even begin? On a hot June night, a lack of air conditioning is not what one wants when sitting down to a meal, but it was almost as warm inside the diner as it was outside. One expects that in summer a fly might get inside, but there was practically a swarm of them in the diner. The service was inexplicably slow(considering there were 4 – 5 waitresses), both in taking my order, refilling drinks, and delivering food. Also, while one expects that in a diner, part of the charm is the line cook calling out when orders come up, whoever was cooking let out a deafening bellow that made customers stop talking to each other each time it echoed throughout a restaurant that was already loud. With all the 5-star reviews, my wife and I certainly would have expected our meals to be better than what we got. My wife’s cheeseburger was dry as a hockey puck, and her tater tots had stayed in the fryer too long — — any longer and they would have resembled small charcoal briquettes. I ordered the hot chicken with fries, and while I certainly wasn’t expecting the equal of Hattie B’s or Prince’s, I also wasn’t expecting what I got: dried-out chicken tenders glopped with«hot sauce» that seemed to be a paste of cayenne pepper and oil. I didn’t even finish it, it was so inedible. I’m all for supporting local businesses, but I expect some value for my money, and I did not receive it. We will not be back.

Great little place. Kids menu. Diner atmosphere but spacious and clean. Good was delicious. Good burgers, fried pickles, hot chicken and more. Only like 1.5 miles off the highway but worth it over fast food.

First time visiting since we moved North of Nashville. This place was great! The staff was very attentive and courteous. The cook came out and was checking on customer’s food. Overall a great experience and the food was really good. This month’s ‘Burger of the month’ was a sicilian burger and it was very tasty. Great job, we will definitely be back soon!

We were headed home for the holidays and looking for a non-chain, casual(read: acceptable to go to in road trip sweatpants), and relatively quick dinner spot. Thanks to Unilocal,we wound up at this little gem. After being greeted and seated right away(by a smiling face), we started trying to narrow down our choices. Another smiling face came right over to answer questions, make suggestions, and get our order. I mention the smiles because quite honestly every other server we have had lately clearly hated their job and considered us a bother. Not the case here. It was a very welcome change! We settled on grilled chicken tenders, okra, and fries for me, and Buffalo chicken tenders(one hot, hot, hot), tots, and okra for my fiancé. The portions were HUGE, and accompanied by fantastic homemade sauces. The okra tasted very fresh, and the chicken was seasoned well. The owner sat down with us for a few minutes to chat and ask how everything was going. He was really cool, and clearly takes a lot of pride in his product and staff. We were in and out quickly, with enough to go for another meal, and 100% satisfied with our experience. Thank goodness this was pretty close the the start of our journey, because we will definitely be back!

Traveling through on our way home in Kansas City, found this GREAT little diner. What a wonderful surprise! The prime rib was the best I’ve had in a long time. Do yourself a favor and stop here, you won’t regret it. Awesome food and great service.

Excellent old fashioned diner. Its a greasy spoon without the grease. The fried pickles were great. Kind of hard to find but it was worth it.

My husband and I always try to avoid the franchises on our road trips and this was a great local discovery. I had the Italian toaster with green beans. The chicken was very moist, the cheese was perfectly melty, there was just the right amount of marinara, and the toast was yu-uh-mee. Green beans were good too. My husband had the HOT chicken(yes, it was pretty darn hot but very good and not something you can get just anywhere), salad and fries which were really good. The staff was genuinely friendly and very accommodating. If we lived in the area, this would most certainly be a favorite of ours. Their daily specials alone would draw us in and keep us returning time and again. It may be a year before we get to return but we are already looking forward to it.

We love this place! The sirloin is great, always cooked perfectly. The fried chicken salad is great as well. The best part about this place is their fried rolls! They are so good! Make sure to ask for the butter and brown sugar sauce to dip them in. You won’t regret it!

Had breakfast on Saturday 3÷1÷14(which at the time of this writing is the only day they serve breakfast). Enjoyed a great breakfast of chicken fried steak 2 eggs cooked to order, hash brown discs and fresh biscuits. Everything was seasoned perfectly and even provided sautéed onions to go with our hash browns. While the hash brown discs are not what we are used to seeing, they were actually very good. The steak came with a dish of pepper gravy. The entire meal was good, hot and prepared quickly. Staff is very pleasant. Coffee cup was never cold and our waitress was very pleasant. We were glad to see the site re-open and seeing breakfast back on the menu is great to see. We’ll be sure to go back to try a dinner too. But our weekly breakfast spot is back. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good breakfast. Would be 5 star rated but really thought the music was a little loud for general conversation without competing with the music.

Ordered the sirloin, medium rare with two sides of ocra, a dinner roll, and a coke. Good eats! :D
