I should have listened to the reviews, when I tried to stop by this place it was closed during its regular business hours. Very disappointing, I was looking forward to trying their gluten-free cupcakes and bringing a bunch back for my co-workers(some of whom are very strict about gluten free).

We drove 20 minutes out of our way the day after Christmas and it was closed. No where online was it posted that they would be closed. In fact, it said they would be open.

I wandered into this store because it was near the place I was getting a smog check for my car. The nicest old lady helped me pick a cupcake flavor and was very pleasant to talk to. She runs the store with her daughter which is so adorable! I had the snicker doodle cupcake for $ 3.50 and you couldn’t tell it was gluten free at all! The cake was very moist, slightly crumbly and just sweet enough. It was delicious and I was immediately won over. Very impressed that it tasted just like a regular cupcake!

Very friendly service yesterday by the owner and her mom as they switched shifts. I got a Snickerdoodle cupcake and a lemon blueberry cupcake. They were both delicious and don’t even taste gluten free:) make sure you bring cash. I’ll be back to try other flavors– I wish they were posted on their website. As far as I can tell, what they have each day is random.

I have been eating gf for over a year now and thrown away more gf baked goods than I have eaten by far. I was in Diablo Foods in Lafayette and purchased the four pack of raspberry vanilla cupcakes. They were amazing. Light, flavorful and the real buttercream frosting was amazing. So amazing that I drove to Pleasanton from Concord just to see the other options. Shar was awesome and I left there with 6 cupcakes and 2 scones.(not all just for me). Love love love that place. And the fact that it is a small family owned business is even better. I found their prices to be reasonable as gf goes. Will be using Aunti Gluten’s for our wedding cake when we renew our vows. Cannot say enough about this place. Cannot wait to taste the bread. The frosting alone is reason enough to drive out here as opposed to Danville.

This is a very cute bakery with delicious cakes and cups cakes. The day I went they had a variety of gluten free cupcakes. They also make special orders such as tiramisu. The bread is delicious! The ladies that work in the bakery are courteous and helpful. I highly recommend it.

This bakery is amazing! We tried the cupcakes and loved them so much we ordered a cake for my GF’s birthday! All 10 people loved the cake that had it and couldn’t believe that something that tasted so good could be gluten free. Shari is awesome! Answered every since question I had, never pushed me to a certain item, and greet’s you with a smile everytime. I will continue to use this bakery for all my baking needs!

This is the sweetest little bakery! The woman who owns it is an absolute joy! She assisted us in picking two truly wonderful cupcakes(the coconut and the lemon blueberry) that were so moist and delicious! I specifically asked her which were the most moist and she didn’t steer us wrong with either of them! We went around 2 and she was already sold out of cookies so if you want cookies go early! Also, this place takes cash only!

Being gluten intolerant, it is hard to find anywhere that I can eat cake or cupcakes from. I got my birthday cake from Aunti Gluten and it was a million times better than other gluten free cakes I’ve had from other bakerys. Keep it up Aunti Gluten!

I“m a gluten free goddess and have been for many years. I love checking out different gf bakeries, and yes, even when I’m low carb I like to go in and see what they offer. I’ve tried going here 2 times, during regular business hours, only to find them closed. Very disappointed, as we made a special detour both times. I highly doubt I will try for the 3rd. Stick with Zest or Mariposa. They actually want customers.

I’m kind of bummed they are closed on both Mondays and Tuesdays, but since it’s a small family run business, I get it. I stopped by during lunch time and found a mother-daughter team running the place. My friend and I got a few cupcakes to share and try. I really liked the Toffee Chocolate cupcake. I have to say that I think their cupcakes are just a little better than Miglets in Danville, plus they are closer to me! Yea!

Gluten Free Bakery! it’s not just for those who have gluten allergies. The cupcakes are delightfully light and flavorful. Very sweetly decorated and some cupcakes are specially made for the season! The lady who helped me was very informative and kind. She knew her cakes ;)

Auntie Gluten’s Bakery by far is the best gluten free place in town. I ordered a dozen cupcakes for a co-workers birthday(who is on a gluten free diet) and she absolutely LOVED the cupcakes. So did everyone else who indulged in the celebration. You couldn’t even tell the cupcakes were gluten free. The coconut and salted caramel cupcakes were to die for. Totally moist and delicious. Shar(the owner’s mother) was such a sweetheart. The bakery doesn’t except credit/debit cards and only cash or check. Unfortunately, I didn’t have either on hand. Shar told me it wasn’t a problem and to drop a check in the mail. I certainly did! That was phenomenal customer service and it will keep me coming back for more and more.

So nice. Delicious. Was trying to find a different bakery and couldn’t. It was 3PM and the doughnut shops were closed too. So I searched for bakeries near my location and found Aunti Gluten’s. I called to ask their hours and the owner said they closed at 3. «Okay, thank you,» I said. «What were you looking for?» I explained that I was having a gal day with my step daughter and we just wanted authentic baked goods. She told me they had about 8 things left and she’d be there for another half hour. We drove the few blocks and found a tiny, charming bakery. Another customer was picking up her cake. My stepdaughter couldn’t decide between raspberry swirl and vanilla bean. The owner told us that she always has the vanilla bean but that the raspberry is only seasonal. She’d take the raspberry swirl. I agreed. I noticed some rectangular treats on the counter and asked about them. Square cupcakes, how fun! I snagged a chocolate-chocolate mint. We paid, got two complimentary cupcakes, sat outside and ate two of our cupcakes and grudgingly took the other two home for the men of the house to taste. Please note, they special orders of dairy-free, casein-free and vegan delights.

These folks are simply fabulous. We drive in from the far side of Livermore(near an equally nice bakery, but they require a week’s notice to make a cupcake… a bit overkill to satisfy a craving). But not at Aunti Gluten’s. They’re 100% gluten-free, a family outfit, and in our visits to date, we’ve met the owner, her mom and dad as they’ve all stood guard at the counter with advice about the products, storing them(no preservatives mean they don’t last long, but the fridge has helped the bread withstand a few days more of goodness). And a nice variety of breads, cupcakes($ 3.50 a pop, but heck, Safeway sells regular«gourmet» cupcakes for $ 2, so Aunti is quite reasonable in comparison). They also stock pie crusts and other goodies during the holidays, and will whip up a batch as a special order year-round with some advanced notice. All told, fantastic place. Awesome staff, knowledgeable and friendly — and the know their gluten, or to be more accurate, how to work miracles without it. And I’m still floored by the lackluster review of the nice gal who popped in to see what all the gluten-free«experience» is all about. I get the part of not enjoying the cupcake, but perhaps a bit more awareness of having a medical necessity to be gluten-free would adjust the tenor of the review.(Those who are eating gluten-free have accepted that the lack of flour and other gluten-based ingredients are not nearly as delicious, so if one elects to try something of a complete different nature, you can’t them apply the ‘standard’ taste palette to these.) Just seems a bit silly to me to expect to strike gold when you’ve chosen to do your digging in a silver mine. But keep it up, Aunti, and we’ll be back in another few days to order up a birthday cake, hurrah!

I’ve become somewhat of a gluten free(GF) bread connoisseur. It’s not that I consume bread regularly. I would blow up to 200 pounds again quickly if I did but bread is definitely one of my «comfort foods» and there are just times when I’ve got to have it. When I do, it needs to be close to perfect. I mean it should have that gluten bread feel texture and smell otherwise, it’s not worth the calories to me. I actually use different types of GF bread for different purposes. I’ll feature an entire post on that in the near future but meanwhile, I want to share this fabulous bread I ran across at Auntie Gluten’s Bakery in Pleasanton. They offer three different varieties: potato bread, white sandwich bread and hearty mixed grain. I put this bread to the test. I tried it on a sandwich, as toast and as a panini. I have to say it was fabulous. I picked up a fresh loaf on a Wednesday which is one of the days they usually bake the bread. The other day is Friday. I suggest buying it fresh when it’s at its«peak.» I thought it had a nice texture and taste on a regular sandwich. I loved the fact that there were no holes in the bread. It is very common, in my experience, for GF bread to have huge holes in it. The slices were also a nice size. The paninis turned out beautiful and tasty. My gluten eaters even said they were good. I’ve featured the recipe below. Chicken panini with pesto, roasted bell peppers and mozzarella Aunti Gluten is selling the bread for $ 6.75 for a 24 ounce loaf which make is about 28 cents per ounce compared to other brands which sell for about 35 cents an ounce(based on $ 4.99 loaf price divided by 14.2 oz average size). Not a bad price! The ingredients are as follows for both the Sandwich and Potato Bread varieties: Sandwich Bread — Rice Flour, Egg Whites, Modified Tapioca Starch, Potato Starch, Canola Oil, Potato Flour, Inulin, Sugar, Soy Flour, Salt, Yeast, Lemon Juice. Auntie Gluten’s Bakery is located on Stanley Blvd in a small shopping plaza at Stanley and Santa Rita behind the Wells Fargo bank right at the edge of downtown Pleasanton. They offer a wide selection of gluten free cupcakes and usually have some gluten free cookies, brownies or macaroons on display. Sometimes they will have a vegan cupcake in the case but I usually email or call ahead for my GF, vegan order. You can also order cakes including birthday and wedding.

Aunty Gluten did take care of my need for gluten-free cupcakes for a friend who prefers following a gluten free diet. And man, who woulda thought these cupcakes taste as good as the ones made from flour?! I opted for the red velvet cupcake and the vanilla chocolate cupcake, both of which were rated very highly and rightly so, on Unilocal. It’s $ 3.50 for a regular sized cupcake, which isn’t bad. I’ll definitely go back because of the wonderful customer service: o)

I have Celiac’s so I don’t chose to be gluten free, I have to be, but haven’t always been: o) My thoughts: — Are exceptional for gluten free, and I have tried everything! — Are moist if eaten the day bought(this is true with ALL gluten free baked goods, just how it is, not exclusive to here.) — There are choices!(Also rare with GF) — Moderate in price(if you are GF, you will know this!) — Personally I didn’t find the owner very friendly or helpful when asking for her opinion(but with so few options in GF baked goods, I will get past it) especially since it is close to my house: o) — They were on the sweet side for me, but I don’t eat refined sugar on a regular basis, so I am not the best judge on this one(I ate about 1⁄3 of the icing, but it did taste good: o) Overall, when I am craving treats, I will be back: o)

My mom and I drove past this bakery a few times in the past few months and I was really intrigued by the name. Plus I really haven’t experienced the whole gluten free thing yet. They had a few options available. I got two Red Velvets and one Chocolate w/Peanut Butter frosting. My mom got one Red Velvet and one Tuxedo. We went home and got our little treats outs to enjoy. My mom, being the first one to bite, was suddenly not so thrilled with her bite. She said,“This is like eating flavorless play-dough”. What? I hurriedly opened one of my first Red Velvets up and bit in. She was right! The cake was very dense like it was made with a ton of oil. I stuck the cake right up against my nose and took a deep breath and didn’t even smell a hint of Red Velvetness. Not even a faint cloy of cake smell either. This cant be possible. A bad cupcake? I took a bite with more frosting. The frosting is pure powdered sugar. It was supposed to be cream cheese frosting. Cream cheese has gluten? It was so sugary it burned my throat. I just wrapped it back up and threw it away. Hoping that the RV was a fluke, my mom got the Tuxedo one out. Yep, same, no smell, no flavor and incredibly sugary frosting. My mom was so mad that we spent $ 16 on crap cupcakes. Later on that night my sister came over and I gave her my other Red Velvet. We watched as she opened the paper and took a bite. We didn’t say anything to her about our experience. We wanted a pure reaction from her just to make sure it wasn’t us. I’m not kidding, she said,“This is like play-dough.” Unfortunately play-dough has more flavor. The Chocolate w/Peanutbutter was for my husband later and I didn’t even bother bringing it home. I left it at my moms house. If he had tried it he probably would have thrown it. I couldn’t disappoint him like that. This was my first experience with gluten free baked goods, but don’t chalk it up to that. If there is no flavor, there’s no flavor. I’m so sorry for Gluten intolerant people. If this is the tasteless drivel that you’re forced to enjoy, I am truly, truly sorry.
