The lunch buffet was pretty snazy. I really enjoyed the freshness of everything and if you are there pretty close to opening you get first choice on all of the good stuff. Buttered Chicken was great, Goat Curry was also excellent. I really also liked the deep fried Cauliflower. If you want simple good Indian food I would definitely recommend Chef India. $ 11 for an all you can eat lunch buffet, which includes all of the fantastic mango Ice cream you can eat. Yes please!

My work colleagues and I enjoy the lunch buffet at Chef India Cuisine two to three times a month. It is a large restaurant that can accommodate practically any sized party without a reservation. The food is delish. The buffet offers several chicken dishes that range from savory(butter chicken) to spicy(chili chicken) to traditional(tandoori chicken), a goat dish, various vegetable dishes, two or three soups, a generous salad/fruit bar, and two or three desserts. The complimentary hot chai tea and mango ice cream make this a well rounded culinary experience. The host and the wait staff are pleasant and very attentive(i.e., they keep your water glass full and your table clear of used plates). We have tried numerous Indian restaurants in Pleasanton and Dublin and consider Chef India Cuisine to be the best of the bunch.

The main thing Chef India has going for it is variety. There are a lot of things present during the lunch buffet. A lot of great things for vegetarians if you happen to be one. Plus, they usually have the goat curry and chicken masala. I highly recommend the goat curry, it’s really really good. Unfortunately, that’s the only thing I can recommend. Sure they have a lot of different things to eat, but the quality of all their menu items sure could be improved on. I think I got sick after the first plate. On the plus side, buffet is only 9.95, so for all you can eat, it’s a pretty good deal. The atmosphere itself is really pleasant though. It’s a very nicely decorated place and has a cool window seating that kind of reminds you of a greenhouse. That’s the best I could describe it. So, in short, goat curry, dining environment = good. The rest = meh.

My family comes here quite a bit actually. I really love the Baingan Bharta, Chicken Chili, and Chicken tikka Masala. And there is a fried dough that is really good too but I forgot what its called… mmm. Well anyways me and my family also love to have competition to see who can form out a perfect cone of mango creamy goodness(in reference to the magno ice cream machine). I definitely have had better indian food, but for the price that you pay for the buffet the quality is good and curbs my cravings.

I’ve tasted a number of their dishes and I must say, their Chicken Makhani(boneless chicken cooked in a butter based sauce) is delicious! I know that regionally, these things don’t go together, but when you dip Mysore Masala Dosa(South Indian: flour crêpe stuffed with potato filling) into the Makhani sauce, it’s a party on your palette! Everything else is mediocre. I would definitely suggest their buffet because take-out is ridiculously too expensive for the portion size. Never, ever, EVER order their Mixed Vegetable Pakora. It’s disgusting! Do you know what vegetables they decided to «mix» together, batter dip, and fry? Chunks of ginger, large slices of jalapenos(with seeds), and onions. BLEH, BLEH, BLEH! I spit it out as soon as it touched my tongue. Gross. Anyway, the butter chicken made up for the other things on the menu, but I wouldn’t come back.

Lunch Buffet: $ 9.95/person. Like I say quite frequently, I don’t have high expectations for food in the Tri-Valley. And for Indian food especially, it’s the Tri-CITY that you need to go to, but this place was not bad! For the price, they offer quite the amount of items… maybe 20 total? I went on a Monday afternoon around 12:30pm and it wasn’t too crowded at all. We were seated in the part of the eating area with the most light, where the skylight was. I enjoyed the linen cloths and sunshine very much so. All the seating is separated from the buffet line so you don’t have to worry about people getting too close to your table. Some of the items I tried: mushroom masala, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, aloo tikki, sambar, chili chicken, lamb curry, saag paneer, plain naan, mango lassi dessert, a shredded orange/coconut dessert, and mango kulfi(ice cream). Trust me, there were plenty more but I chose carefully to what I think my tummy could handle. If I was in the area, I would definitely consider eating here for lunch but I wouldn’t make a specific trip out here. I do really really appreciate the cleanliness though!

3.5 stars, really. I came here one day for their lunch buffet with my sister and her husband. When I walked in I immediately noticed the 90’s décor, but what else would you expect from an Indian restaurant? They seated us under this nice glass archway where there was plenty of sun, but nothing glaring in your face. We took turns going to the buffet. I was kinda disappointed at the few choices we had for meat. When I was there, they only offered 2 types of chicken and a lamb(?). But their butter chicken was delicious, and you can never go wrong with nan. Although, their chicken tandoori was pretty dry. Very disappointing. In the end, I was satisfied. it has the Indian basics that you need, and it’s good enough to satiate your craving. And definitely one star goes to their all-you-can-drink-self-serve chai! I will go back for the chai alone!
