Sweet River Grill & Bar

am i surprised sweet river has closed down at stoneridge mall? not at all! i’m very surprised it actually stayed open as long as it did.
i can remember going here for the first time over 20 years ago. the food was always pretty good but over the years just got really bad. i actually miss the good old days of the mall because the new stoneridge really makes my ill.
it’s been a long ride sweet river you will be missed by some for sure.

with the rise of cheesecake and peeefers (or pf changs as some may call it); i feel kind of bad for ye old sweet river! i have been eating at this place for nearly as long as i can remember! they have some of theeeeee most bomb ass potato wedge french fries known to man! bad ass burgers, delicious enchiladas and dammit if they can’t make one HELL of an awesome chocolate shake!
i’ve been here so many times that yeah, i’ve had crappy service and yeah, i’ve had fantabulous service. i’ve found personally that i get the best service when i sit in the bar area.
i would also like to add that they always seem to play a really great mix of background music! it adds to their already cool décor!
sadly, i do my best to avoid stoneridge mall in general. not because it is a bad mall, but mostly because i hate being in the valley. so my visits to ye old sweet river are few and far between these days. i suppose that’s a good thing for my ass because i really really love those french fries with ranch!

Wow! The Sticks??? How funny — I wish it still was. The McMansions haven’t attracted the friendliest people to the area, and traffic sucks.
Anyhoo — I was one of the original employees at Sweetriver when it opened. At that time we had the best service, comedy on Saturday nights, and because it was still «the sticks», it was one of the places to go on a weekend night. Great service, good food, and a fun place to work while in college.
I haven’t been there in a while — mainly because the mall doesn’t attract the best crowds most of the time, especially on weekends, however, when we were last there a year ago it was clean, service was quick and friendly, and the food was good. It it wasn’t, I would have walked out and gone elsewhere instead of sitting through it.
I hear they may be closing, which is too bad, because PF Changs is good, but over priced, and Cheesecake Factory is okay — but over rated, and that leaves nothing in between those two and fast food when you absolutely have no choice but to go to Stoneridge. Then again, I don’t go to the mall for a fine dinner — we just happen to eat there if we’re stuck for a while and everyone is hungry.

Not a bad lunch option when Cheesecake Factory and PF Changs have 45 minute waiting lists. The food is actually really good, if they picked up on their service, it’d be another star, but the service is just really inconsistent.
If they decide to really scrub the place, it would get 5 stars. But, I also eat at Taco Bell Express on occasion, so I can’t be too picky.

Wow, I’m really surprised at the atrocious tales of this restaurant… customers being completely ignored. And I certainly must take Sun E’s word for it… she is more benevolent than me.
This is our standard «shopping and dinner» place at Stoneridge, and we’ve not yet had a bad experience. I like that there is a great variety on the menu. Sometimes I’m in the mood for soup & sandwich, sometimes, a burrito, or just some appetizers. And none of the food has been disappointing. I’m nearly always in the mood for a cocktail, and they have beer, wine and a lot of foo-​foo drinks to choose from. Our service has ranged from stellar on a few occasions, to slightly disinterested but efficient (prompt service, getting the substitutions right), and varying degrees in between. But we have never been ignored.
Lots of choices for kids meals, too, and very generous portions. Two young ones could probably share one if they could agree on something. Coloring supplies provided and appreciated.
I do have to agree with Laurie on the lack of a changing table. I have changed my toddler’s diaper standing up in a stall, which was an unpleasant feat.

I am a little suprised by all the bad service comments by fellow Unilocalers at this establishment. We have always been very fortunate to have good and friendly servers. I’m usually pretty critical of customer service, but if I was basing my review on service alone, they would get 4 stars from me.
They are only getting 2 stars here, because the restaurant has become a little on the dirty side. I was also quite shocked to find that this restaurant did not have a diaper changing station in the restroom. Nothing like changing your baby’s diaper on the counter to share with the world! Ugh!!!
The food was okay, nothing special but satisfactory.

Service was slow. Food was a little on the expensive side. The dish I ordered was very salty. They decorate the place like Applebee’s. Quality is just not up to par.

You would think with PF Changs and Cheesecake factory raking in the dough next door, that Sweet river would try a little harder to compete with them… well, they don’t try, not at all. Despite thestiff competition, they are perfectly happy serving crappy food with slow service in a pretty dirty restaurant. I kind of wish they would just close down and maybe someone who gave a damn about the business would takeover.

After the horrid 15 min wait for a server, we sat for another 10 waiting for water. It was rediculous. WTH. If I wasn’t absolutely sick of cheesecake factory I would never come here. EVER. The food was fine, but the service is like this restaurant is stuck in the middle of kansas with not one soul within 50 mile radius. That’s how horrid it was.
Man, I don’t really EVER want to come here again.

I used to be one of those teenage asshole employees that everyone is nailing Sweet River for. I think Pleasanton is a horrible place and Stoneridge is the capital.
What I like about Sweet River is that it is frozen in time. You might as well be in Wyoming if you find yourself in the parking lot of Stoneridge.

Today I went to this place for lunch with co-​workers. We were in a party of 7 and accomodated promptly. Our orders were taken by our mohawked friend. He got everything right and was fast doing it. The food was back out to us in no time except the burger I had was a little dry.
Anyway, this place is located in Stoneridge mall and is a good place to go for lunch. It also has a bar so I’ll probably check that out in the coming weeks.
The prices were pretty average for the area. A little bit more expensive than your Applebees or Chilis.

What a suburban hell hole this place is. The food isn’t bad, but everything else is just hideous. From the staff of gruff teenagers that would rather pull their own toenails out than crack a smile to the groups of dead inside families just eager to get out of the mcmansion they just threw down $ 700,000 on, this place is the first place I’ll go if I ever even THINK of living this far out in the sticks.

We usually eat here while shopping at the mall. Food is good, but service has slacked off the last couple times we went. Menu has a variety of food at regular prices.
