We had flexible duct work for AC installed into our older home and although the system itself has been working well for about a week, the company(owner included) left the areas of our home that they worked in a total mess(4 closet spaces, walk up attic, basement stairwell and parts of my daughter’s room that they needed access to). I was initially appalled that they were going to just leave the duct work totally open to air(with very unsightly and poorly measured holes for the ducts areas) but after complaining the owner said he was willing to «box in the ducts» for the cost of materials which we greatly appreciated but felt was definitely necessary. A large duct was placed in our living area which was all ripped apart and the wall looked like they just took a hammer to it … it needed to be covered. They did spend extra time doing this and overall the boxing in came out okay… it also covered an unnecessary hole they ripped into a closet floor that they joked and said«I was hoping you wouldn’t see that.» I should also mention that within the first few hours of being at our house they broke our toilet handle off somehow(although AC was not even installed in the bathroom) but did replace it before we returned home. My biggest issue was the cleanup or lack thereof. The owner actually put a screw through his hand while boxing in the ducts and there was blood splatter left up and down the walls/floors of my 2 year old’s closet and bedroom. He never mentioned it until I emailed him photos and then he said he didn’t notice it had splattered and he was sorry… How do you not notice blood that took over half an hour to bleach out of white walls? Very disgusting. There were also screws, nails, chunks of splintered wood, masses of insulation, pieces of metal and duct left in our home– again also in my 2 year old’s bedroom. Not only unacceptable but also dangerous. The owner did respond quickly to my emails and offered to send a cleaning person out… when I said that would be appreciated he basically backtracked and said they spent all this extra time doing the duct work and I was lucky he didn’t charge me for that. I feel like he could have spent an extra hour cleaning up our home with a shop vac and I would have been happy. I have never worked with a contractor who didn’t clean up after themselves… especially something like blood! Overall I would not use this company if I needed further work in the future. They were also the higher priced option between the 3 companies that gave us estimates. We went with them bc the owner seemed to have good experience and seemed confident that we would be happy with the end result… unfortunately I feel we chose incorrectly.
