I just had the BEST eyeglasses experience here…
I have frames that I absolutely love (and they’re Prada… I can’t really justify spending that much on frames every year, for heaven’s sake!), but my script seems to change annually, so new lenses are in order. I called a couple of the big chains for a rough price for just the new lenses. Um, $ 180? For replacement lenses? No tinting, no bifocals, not carved by hand, no special anything… just plain old, run of the mill, polycarbonate lenses. I had found Public Spectacle on a desperate Internet search, and am so happy I did!
Dr. MacLeod was just awesome. He was exceedingly patient, with both working with my insurance to lower the price for the lenses, and explaining why I’ve had trouble with my glasses in recent years. He explained an eye condition I have, and options for it better than several other doctors I’ve been to! And he worked fast; I left my frames with him on a Wednesday afternoon, and they were ready on Friday.
Even if I hadn’t been able to get the discounted price with my insurance, Dr. MacLeod’s price still would have been significantly less expensive than everywhere else I called. And more importantly, these are the best lenses I’ve gotten in several years. Dr. MacLeod was thorough, patient, efficient, and kind, and I will be going to him for all of my eye wear needs in the future.
(He does stock a fair selection of frames there, accepts some insurance, and does eye exams, too.)
