Samoset Auto Service

Samoset and John (the owner) were referred to me years ago and we had been taking our cars to him to be serviced for a couple of years.
I always felt he was honest and competent — but one day we had some issue with the car (I don’t recall the specifics) and John told us it would cost around $ 800. That was many hundreds more than I wanted to spend and to my ignorant ears sounded high. I went to a nearby competitor to get another quote. Before he even looked at the car, this competitor said «If John says that’s what it costs, then that is what it will cost. You won’t find a more honest mechanic than John.»
I thought that was amazing. This was a competitor literally across the street giving such a glowing testimonial! (I also think this speaks volumes about the integrity of said competitor, Cape Auto.)
Anyway — I found it extremely refreshing that this level of integrity exists amongst these local auto mechanics.
Since then, John has saved me quite a few times. Once I had a car issue that could have been either a big issue or a minor one –when it turned out to be the minor issue John sounded genuinely happy for me that I saved so much money. The fix only cost me about $ 50 — so clearly John didn’t make any money on the transaction. But he was genuinely happy that his customer was happy.
I highly recommend John and Samoset Auto. (And if he can’t help you for whatever reason, you can’t go wrong to go see Joe at Cape Auto…)
