Évaluation du lieu : 2 San Jose, CA
Setting up the appointment for a walk-through was simple(especially since we were short on time and it was last minute), and the consultant showed up on time and gave us a binding estimate for our furniture. This was a cross-country move from WV to CA. United Van Lines has these«pod» type moving containers, although not the ones they advertise on their website. These were actually large, wooden crates, usually used for freight shipping. Our consultant at Lambert Transfer told us it would be quicker to ship and to receive our goods if we went via the«pod» over using a typical semi-truck. Answer is, it’s about the same(They picked up our furniture on May 27, we FINALLY received a confirmation delivery date of June 16). He gave us an estimate of needing 3 pods, he was correct. It was like pulling teeth trying to get a delivery window for when our things should arrive. On moving day, the truck and 3 men showed up on time. They started work quickly, albeit a little rough with just letting our plastic totes«slide down the stairs.» The men were polite and friendly, they brought music and their own drinks/food. We did all the packing of boxes/totes ourselves, and let the movers handle our 2 flat-screen TVS, glass-top desk, & glass aquarium. All furniture was wrapped by them with padded blankets. A few things stood out: — They used one of our packed boxes to prop up our sofa to pad the underside with a blanket. What if something valuable/breakable was in there? Just LIFTITUP, there are 3 of you! — Frequent breaks. I get you need a lunch break, but considering we had most of the packing completed and almost everything downstairs waiting for you to move it out, it shouldn’t have taken so long. — They really did a good job of packing the boxes and furniture in tightly. however, a lot of boxes that were labeled FRAGILE were turned on their sides, and a box labeled«DONOTSTACK»… well, you guessed it, they stacked things on top of it. I’m just waiting to see how many things are damaged. There aren’t many mover choices in the Charleston, WV area, so you’re kind of stuck with a few and hope for the best. Overall, if you have a smaller load and a short distance to go, Lambert should be considered. However, communication when trying to coordinate a cross-country move was shaky/fair at best. We haven’t received our goods yet, but I probably would not use Lambert again for such a large move.
