These places do still exist! Clean, affordable, quiet, clean… did I mention clean? I was very happy to have found a real gem along I-70. Very easy on/off the interstate, large parking lot, well maintained rooms with benches out front. I measure the quality of a hotel room by two things, if its clean and how the water pressure is in the shower… and the water pressure was better than most modern day hotels by far! The staff were very accommodating, even had the old style motel key. The adjoining restaurant is also a great place for a nice meal at a reasonable price but arrive hungry because they are serious about the Big breakfast. A charming place right off I-70, why stay anywhere else if you are in the area? Save some money and enjoy an «old school» nights sleep at the Powhatan.

The Powhatan Motel doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it’s very affordable. More importantly, my room had the single most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. True story. The motel restaurant was good, too. I’d stay there again in a heartbeat.
