Very glad to have Lenny’s near by. Great butcher, tons of premade options, plenty of staff. Because they tend to be busy(especially in the summer) be prepared to spend a bit of time. Not a fast in & out. Parking gets difficult summer weekends.

I love their salads and their huge sandwiches. Everything is always so fresh and I am never disappointed. I have yet to try breakfast but I’ve only been told phenomenal about it so that’s next on my list.

If you are not in NYC and reading this, craving the best Italian sub that will totally satiate your taste buds, you are more likely a foodie. There is another choice. Lenny’s in Pt Pleasant, NJ. They have the best quality meats even those with an extra spicy kick(better than Boarshead). The cheese was so fresh including their daily made mozzarella. The sub rolls have the perfect exterior crunch with the soft inside. They have so many side entrees made fresh everyday with quality ingredients. Be easy on your taste buds. They could quite possible go into shock… Lol!!! They have standard sandwich names or you can make up your own custom sammies. If you want oil and vinegar on your sammie no problem. Mustard and mayo mixed together no problem. Nothing a problem almost like Jamaica… no problem mannn(famous speel). We’ve been buying 10 –12 yummy sammies at a time to go for years. Everything is so fresh! We wouldn’t waste our time going elsewhere(nothing compares)! Just stop at Lenny’s, your taste buds will thank you with outrageous moans. Sorry no pics. We just pick up to go. Great grab for the beach :)!!! Unilocal Review #356

There’s a lot of good things here and some quirky and annoying idiosyncrasies. This place is a good reprieve from the giant supermarkets! What stands out is their butcher dept and prepared foods. Meats are a little pricier than the supermarkets, but not by much… maybe$ 1 or 2 per pound on beef… and worth it. Sausages, Italian & various types of chicken, are homemade. That’s a big thing with me! And the Italian sausage is excellent, not really fatty like the ones you typically find. Beware: the hot Italian sausage is really HOT… great if you like«spicy», but way hotter than anything you’d find in the supermarket labeled«hot». Their chicken pot pie is also great, not so much the beef pot pie or shepherd’s pie, although this may be more personal preference. The staff is really motivated to serve you… a little too much so. When standing in the butcher dept, you’re not there more than 20 seconds before being asked what you want. This initially sounds like a very good thing. But they come hovering back if haven’t made up your mind to the point of verging on being pushy. The staff must get very strict instructions/marching orders on persuing the customer until they make a decision. They don’t take checks, which can be a little inconvenient for some customers who don’t like using debit cards. Mind you, this is a grocery store, not a liquor store, where I could see an alchoholic bouncing a check. But that, of course, is their prerogative. However once I did pay by check and no one questioned it at the time. But then I received a message on my machine Sunday morning from a woman informing me not to pay by check again. I found that more than a little disconcerting. Would they come to my house next time? And one more peeve, NOBATHROOMS. I assume they have one… just not for customers. This is incomprehensible to me. For a grocery store? Even most Wawas &7⁄11 usually allow customers to use them. They very generously suggest I use the one next door. UPDATE: I was there the other day, and the owner came up to me and told me he had read my review, and consequently had spoken to the staff in the butcher dept to give people a little space when deciding what to order. This, to me, shows that he is dedicated to his business and customers, which is also evidenced by the fact that he always seems to be on premises. Still wished they took checks and had a restroom for customers though.

I am so grateful to Lenny’s Colonial Market for making an exception and delivering emergency milk to my elderly mother. It was so kind of you to go out of your way to help her in a pinch. She also loved the chicken wings that I ordered for her from your store. You are an excellent business with great food and old-fashioned, neighborly values. My thanks to Dylan who kindly took care of me and to the owner for allowing this exception to happen.

Their meats are superb. I only get the 4 or 6 ounce burgers here and refuse to buy anywhere else. The sub sandwiches are excellent the meat and cheese are piled high on wonderful crusty Italian sub bread and the price is the same as the sub franchises in town.

Better quality & better Prices than the Large Grocery Stores. You actually see the ‘GUY’ wash his hands before he cuts the Meat. Do you see that in Grocery stores? vegetables same price, dairy same price as Big Grocery stores. Why not shop where you see who handles your food?

Most helpful employees. Best quality food for your money. Prepared dinners to the infamous«butter steak». Why shop anywhere else.

Great people. Great food. We always get our meat from the butcher. Subs are always consistent and all of the ingredients are fresh. Butcher will always offer fresh and speciality cuts. Desert section is delicious. Try spicy/honey ham and provolone, butter steak, huge burger patties and lemon bars.

Yesterday my roommates and I were excited to buy some good for our bbq and then we were really disappointed because we showed up a few minutes after they had closed as we didn’t know the hours. As we were about to drive away the owner ran out and asked if we had cash n then proceeded to serve us. We were highly appreciative and everything we purchased was delicious. Horseradish bacon potato salad was the best potato salad I ever had. We love this place.

I love Lenny for steaks, cold cuts and their salads are really good too. Been buying from Lenny for many years now. I try to go during the week since the weekends get crowded esp in the summer. My favorite of all are their sloppy rancher sandwiches’ they are delicious!

Great local shop if you’re in a pinch to get something for dinner. Lots of good prepared foods and sides, sandwiches, soups, not to mention the butchered meats, freshly baked breads and just lots of yummy stuff in general. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only thing that’s holding it back from a 5 star is the price and the lack of parking. Shenster approved!

The colonial market is one of the best butchers/delis/market you will ever find. I love the old school charm of this place, which has everything from great sandwiches to an excellent butcher and high quality meats. They have tons of prepared foods and salads along with a bakery counter, fresh produce and market items. I strongly recommend a trip here if you haven’t been.
