I just moved into the neighborhood and was checking out all the local shops around town. The stores window display caught my attention right away. Once I walked in it was an amazing delight to my senses all the unique items they carried. The salesman was telling me the background stories to every piece that I was drooling over. As more people came in there were more stories to hear — it was so much fun! If you’re looking for one-of-a-kind or rare pieces this may be a treasure trove for you.

From outside, the store collections seem interesting. Since my wife and I are avid fan of mid century furnitures and in need of some, i have been eyeing this store for a while, especially since it is local. But, Alas, i went there four times during their business hours and found the shop is closed. I tried calling several times. Most of the time, the phone went unanswered. One time, a lady answered that the store is closed. The other time, she said the store open till 8 pm. I went there at 6:45 pm. And, surprise surprise. It was closed. So, i gave up and decided to take my business to Long Beach retro row where they actually open when they say they would. Sigh…

Mid Century furnishings is my weakness. An art piece in the window caught my eye and brought me inside. Futures Collide has so many gorgeous couches and other neat looking pieces of furniture. If my house was big enough I’d have bought the entire store. I wanted to ask how much the window display piece was but there were no price tags on anything which told me I needed to be turning around and heading out the door before I ended up selling my unborn children to get my hands on a few living room pieces.

The fact that it’s small shouldn’t hold it back from rocking the displays or giving what customers want. Frankly, this place is more suited for Silverlake than Pomona and I’m surprised it’s still in business after all this time. The furniture is not only bizarre at times, but incredibly expensive for the area. You could justify the prices if it were in some marked up area like Melrose, Silverlake, or WeHo… but in Pomona, no one wants to fork over anything above 300 dollars for a piece of furniture let alone a table that looks like Dali’s melting clock. I admire the spirit and the staff is VERY friendly — but ultimately browsing I didn’t feel at ease in the cramped futuristic store.

Really nice Mid Century Modern Store in the heart of Pomona’s art walk district. First time there I bought a unique and beautiful Danish Modern couch that I will never part with. The stock is somewhat limited as the store isn’t the biggest, but that is part of the charm of the area. The sales staff is very helpful, very nice, and very eccentric.
