Warranty service department are the most disorganized of any product I have ever owned. My trash can failed after two months. They want me to pay shipping to send it to them for replacement. Plan to spend 8 hours of your life to get warranty service to work.

I have had horrible customer service from Nine Star. I bought the extended warranty from Walmart but they can do nothing until the factory warranty is up. You cannot reach a human being there on your own. After hours on the phone leaving messages with no return call and wit Assurion reps, a Walmart supervisor was able to get me in touch with a person who assured me she would take care of the issue. I emailed her all of the documentation and after two days, she is not returning my emails or phone calls. I would not recommend purchasing a product made by this company.

The product is nice, however it doesn’t last. I had 2 of these trash cans, model DZT-70−11R, and both have failed. The lids don’t open automatically any more. Warranty service is a joke, I can buy a new replacement lid from them for the same cost as paying for the cost of sending and paying the cost of getting it back. YES i have to pay for shipping it back to myself once its fixed.

I have also had customer service problems and would not recommend this company. I followed the company’s instructions regarding sending the top in with the warranty information and they sent it back all torn up with no explanation, no repair, and no phone call. I sent an email to the company because I couldn’t reach a person by phone and I have yet to receive a response. Fortunately I have the extended warranty through Walmart and they may honor their services. I would not advise anyone to do business with this company. You may get lucky and get more than a year out if the lid but I’d say you are lucky.

Terrible, terrible product. Works for a short time and then fails. Customer service is terrible. Apparently according to their customer service«supervisor» Claudia in Pomona there is no one in the company above her and they only have one technician. They couldn’t care less about thier customers and they know thier product is defective. Terrible product, terrible company, lesson learned.

The only reason I am not giving this can 5 stars is because it has one flaw. If the red sensor window is dirty or gets scratched, the lid will repeatedly open and close. That is not the flaw. The flaw is that the company does not sell replacement stickers but instead sells the whole lid for $ 35. I completely took the lid apart and tested many things and finally realized that the problem was a scratch on the red window which itself is part of the sticker. So I cut out the red window with an exacto knife and replaced it with scotch tape. It doesn’t look pretty but the lid is now working PERFECTLY. I have written to ninestars requesting a new sticker and am hoping they send me one or two.

Gotta agree with the earlier review. It’s a great trash can when it works. When it works we love it. But then, this is the third one we’ve purchased in the last 2 years. At ~$ 50 for each top at some point one has to wonder whether that’s really a cost effective option for a kitchen trash receptacle. If you do get one definitely do send in the warranty card(including the purchase receipt) — not something one typically need do for a trash can ;-) — then file a copy away cuz there is a very good chance you will be needing it.

This business promotes infrared trash containers. The warranty is good for only one year because the lids only operate for about a 1 yr to 1 ½ years then they go out. The company’s solution to the defective lid after the warranty runs out is to buy the lid at full retail price again and throw the old one away in you trash container. They don’t offer recycling or fixing the lid at a lower cost. There is only one Receptionist/Customer Service Rep. trying to manage all the aggravated calls from hundreds of disappointed consumers at this company.

You may wonder why I’m giving 5 stars to a trash can… it is truly a miracle trash can. It showed up unexpectedly as a gift, and now we cannot live without it. For regular folks, there’s the joy of just waving to it and having it snap to attention, opening and lowering its lid without a single touch. For those with small kids, you can simply turn off the switch in the back and it’s instantly childproof. No more hiding the trash can on top of the washer! There is a world of useless household appliances out there, but this is not one of them. It’s ridiculous how much joy it gives me.
