An interesting ramen experience to say the least. Judging by the exterior Onishicho used to be a fast food joint, as a drive-thru section is not normally a feature for most ramen places. Ever the pragmatic Chinese business, the management seems to have run with this mindset, using both the drive-thru and promoting delivery options. I did not get to use either service, instead settling for the inside dining. I went to this restaurant for lunch after attending an event. Seating looked like it could house a decent amount of customers despite the relative emptiness of the hour I came in. After ordering I was treated to a combination of the ambient music and a Mandarin dialogue amongst the workers. Generally speaking I don’t mind if workers talk to one another on a slow day, but I think it just helped to heighten some of their service missteps. I was one of two customers, and all I can say is that I felt rushed to finish my food by how brief service was. How brief? I was given one glass of water, and in the span of drinking it on a hot day, I got my bill rather than a refill. My server dropped off my check and returned to her co-workers. I was halfway through my food. All of this might not have been a big deal if the food was good enough to ignore these oversights. It wasn’t. I ordered the spicy miso ramen, and it was wholly average. Neither the broth nor the fixings were anything special. I’m just not sure what this place has going for it besides it being in the Inland Empire.

The quality of the bowl was excellent. They prepared the toppings with care. It looked like an art piece. The taste of everything was exquisite. The tonkotsu broth was subtle yet warming and savory. The best part about this place is it’s very affordable. I’d pay at least 12 dollars for the bowl that they charge 7 dollars for.

Well I don’t think I can give this place a true true true thoroughly written review based solely off the Chicken Ramen that I ordered because… Well because I feel that I would need to try some of their other menu items before spilling ALLOFTHEBEANS. Maybe I will go back, but then again maybe I won’t. If I’m feeling like trying some of their other items I just might, but if I have a certain prejudice about them based on the chicken ramen I got I most certainly wouldn’t return. I stopped in for some ramen, but I’m trying this healthy thing called not eating pork. Oh man kill me now. That means I don’t even eat bacon anymore. So what’s the next best thing you might ask? Well that might just be chicken!!!(Starts the chicken dance) Now when ordering I preferred not to get the corn that the ramen comes with so I asked to replace it with another«add-in» and they said sure but I only had 3 options which I was kinda disappointed and those options didn’t include egg… :(very very very sad face. So I just added more seaweed. Once I got my bowl I was like yum where do I start? Should I mix it up, should I just pico at it, should I just stop thinking and eat maybe??? Well that’s what I did. Then I remembered I want SPICY! So the server brought back a lil red bowl with some spicy sauce that looked liked ketchup. Go figure! I out it in and it was kinda spicy but I won’t complain. The one thing I was so annoyed at was how the chicken was cooked! So this joint has popcorn chicken on the menu and the exact way they cool the popcorn chicken is the exact way they prepped my chicken for the ramen MINUS the breaking of it. It was just weird to me. Like I thought it would have been shredded or something like that. So there goes my meal ehhh I most certainly wouldn’t try the chicken ramen. It just had this weird taste to it. And look tbh. The noodles were okay and the broth too so it wasn’t a total waste but still…

Tasty! Great find in the middle of nowhere! Great broth, noodles leave a little to be desired though, but overall pretty good! Gyozas were bang on!

Went back for my boyfriend to try, and I still give it 3 stars. Service was still lackluster, as in, no refills, had to ask for them, nobody checked in on us, etc. My tonkatsu ramen smelled funny this time around, and didn’t have much flavor, despite the chili and soy I added to it. I reiterate that it’s just to satisfy a Little Tokyo craving.

Onishicho ramen’ service is very genuine. I believe it’s a Chinese run business, but their kind and genuine service make me felt like I was cared for. I’ve been there multiple times ordering ~$ 8 spicy miso ramen ~$ 13 ramen combo.(Ramen + fried rice/chicken teriyaki) ~large charshu(pork) fried rice The ramen is definitely good for the area. It’s not best ramen(comparing to little Tokyo) BUT, they do it pretty well, especially for Pomona. I thought their teriyaki chicken was OFFTHECHAIN! The caramelization on the chicken with the full flavor or the sauce. It was heavenly. I’ve eaten lots and lots and lots of chicken teriyaki in my time. They do it fantastically over there. Tip: get the ginger on the side

To be honest I don’t see why the rating is so high. My husband and I got the shrimp tempura, Takoyaki, and the chicken ramen. Shrimp tempura was fine, the Takoyaki was complete mush, and you could tell with the ramen they use very cheap ingredients for both broth and toppings. He got it spicy and said you could add chili to top ramen chicken broth and get the same thing. The chicken itself had the texture of a ground up chicken nugget. Service was friendly, thus the 2 Stars.

Always craving ramen and the boyfriend wanted takoyaki. The tonkotsu ramen was okay. The broth was pretty bland. It wasn’t very memorable. The noodles were good though! There were three thinly sliced pieces of meat. I’m a meat lover, so I was pretty disappointed. This ramen was okay. Since I’ve been to better places, I would probably not return here for the ramen but… Takoyaki was probably the best that I have ever had. Usually, there are one tiny piece of octopus. I was so happy to bite into two huge pieces! Really good value too! 6 pieces for about $ 4. I highly recommend this. I will probably come again for this!

This is a great find in the Pomona area! I was surprised to find delicious ramen! It’s not the best, I wouldn’t compare it to the places I find in LA or Sawtelle, but it’s definitely delicious and probably the best place in the area! The ramen is delicious and there are a lot of seasonings at each table you can add if needed. My favorite is #1, which is on the cover of the menu. Lots of flavor, always gets me full! Everything I have ordered here has not let me down so far! The popcorn chicken is delicious, and so are the Takoyaki balls and worth the price! Also tried the curry porkchop cutlet and it was amazing! For dessert, I’ve only tried the mochi ice cream which comes in green tea and strawberry and it’s always good. Nothing different from the average. Servers are friendly however it’s hard to communicate with them, especially if you want anything specific. They have messed up on my orders a couple of times but they apologize and take care of the situation anyway. Definitely recommend this place for delicious Ramen or Japanese food if in the area!

Not a huge fan of this place but it depends on the type of ramen style you like — i suppose. Atmosphere has a dull fast food style and terrible seats. Food was okay. Sister hated her ramen as the noodles has a peculiar almost stale taste to them, and I agree. Had rice and pork belly on the side which was very good. That gave us a free side if chicken and again that was very good. Nice salad with very good dressing. My disappointment comes from the Ramen — the main course. Fairly bland, stale taste — watery. The broth isn’t rich and appetizing. Ill stick with my spot in Gardena.

Don’t come here expecting to have ramen which mirrors the taste and quality of Daikokuya or Shinsengumi. This is a hole in the wall place in a very random location. Come here if you’re lazy and don’t want to drive all the way out to the OG ramen places. Came here on a Monday around 7pm, not very busy. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, takoyaki while my sister’s bf ordered the combo that comes with ramen, salad, and teriyaki chicken + rice. Flavor of the broth is alright. Definitely could have more pork and fatty flavor. The noodles were a bit bland, but the texture was just right for me(a bit on the chewier side). Takoyaki $ 4.50 for 6 pieces. Definitely had better but it was not bad. Might order again. The waitress wasn’t exactly attentive and took forever to take our payment. I had to wave my credit card around. Overall, this place will hit the spot if you’re just looking for a quick ramen fix. If you’re a ramen snob then please drive out to the OG ramen places instead of giving this place a bad review. Plenty of parking in the lot.

Best ramen close to the IE. Been looking for a spot closer to home to get our ramen fix and we have found it! The tonkotsu broth is really good, the veggie ramen and broth had great flavor too. They offer combination specials too with salad and teriyaki chicken. Over all I really liked this place, give them a try you will like it!

Came with my husband and kids on this rainy day. It was great. I ordered the tonkotsu mild spicy with straight noodles and my husband ordered the same but medium spicy. We bith enjoyed our ramen. We asked for chili oil, our waitress(who seemed a bit lost the whole time) brought it out with Sriracha too so that was cool. Our noodles we cooked perfectly. You can order them 2 ways. Wavy and chewy or straight less chewy. We got the straight and were pleased. The broth was good. It wasnt salty or bland. It was flavorful. We also ordered fried rice. It was good but it was a bit oily. Other than the odd waitress situation, we had a good experience here. They dont have a great selection of drinks. No alcohol so that sucked. No sake or sapporo. :( My husband asked if I’d come back. I replied, yes.

I was coming back from a doctor’s appointment and was STARVING. I looked up spots in the area and discovered this new ramen shop. Im not in town for much longer and thought I should give this place a try. The gist: definitely not comparable to the legends like Daikokuya or Shin shen gumi or the like in LA. But, it is a solid option if you want ramen and don’t want to drive too far from the IE! Parking: large lot in a not too shady part of Pomona. They also have a drive through for those who want quick take-outs! Service: clean and simple atmosphere with an adequate amount of seatings. Sweet and soft spoken waitresses. They promptly took my order and refilled my water. They even gave me free sample of gyoza because they felt bad for my party of one. JK! Hahahah, maybe… FOOD! Gyoza: pretty decent, a little under-fried for my liking. It’s yummy but I don’t know if I would pay 4.50 for 4 pieces gyoza when that can literally buy me a bag from the market. Tonkotsu ramen: I will break it up in chunks — Broth 2.5÷5: I felt like something was lacking, maybe it’s the richness? It was just too thin for Tonkotsu soup and a little bland. I’m also not a fan of black pepper in my ramen. — Noodles 4⁄5: good consistency, good amount, was just a little thin compared to regular ramen noddles –Eggs 6⁄5: BOMBEGGS! Seriously I miss places that get their eggs right! It was the right consistency and flavors. Gosh darn I wish they can make this in AZ… –Cha siu meat 5⁄5: tender and full of flavors, me likey! and one more thing, ask to put ginger the ginger on the side, it completely over powers the broth and ramen, BLAH! Check this place out if you’re in pomona area! They’re new and trying to improve! Although there is one small doubt in my mind… Ramen is a Japanese dish, but all the workers in the spot were speaking Chinese… Oh well, the ramen was pretty decent so I’m just going to let that mystery slide.

Was craving ramen after seeing a eye doctor in La Verne and decided to come here after seeing the raving reviews. You got nice unorganized servers well at least one girl who was confused half the time. The ramen was. Bland and portions ridiculously small. The broth was light and lacking in pork fat and flavor. Noodle was under cooked and toppings minimal. I had order extra bamboo for a $ 1 more and all i got was 4 pieces?!? I wonder what the regular portion is, 2… So here is my other gripe other then the mediocre food. i had asked for the check twice from the lost looking girl and both times she forgot… I literally waited 20 mins and then got up to walk to the front to pay. They had several checks lying around including mines. I pointed where i was sitting and which check was mines, they then try to give me someone else’s check which was like $ 40 and my check is actually $ 25 and I’m like no this is what I had… i didn’t even order or had the other stuff on the other check, the lady proceeded to firm voice and say no that one should be it. where were you sitting… Excuse me, don’t give me an attitude. I know what we had… I pointed again at our booth and said this check is correct. Our table was B1 and the other one was A1 but still get it right, plus you were the one who took our order! Anyways, i paid and still gave them my minimum tip amount for horrendous service 15% but honestly zero would of been fine…

This is probably the only good place to get ramen in Pomona to be honest. I really like their ramen because it comes with toppings such as a hard boiled egg, seaweed, onion, pork belly, fish cake, corn, bamboo, and saffron. These toppings are all included with the ramen meal and are not charged as extra toppings. I ordered the spicy miso ramen which was spicy, but not spicy enough for my tastebuds. Since I wanted my ramen more spicy, I asked for chili oil and I also added the chili powder that was provided on the table. After adding everything to my ramen, I had the perfect ramen dinner. Besides the ramen, I also ordered takoyaki(a Japanese ball-shaped snack filled with octopus). I must say the takoyaki is a must when coming here. The order comes with 6 delicious bites of the takoyaki and is flavored with a sweet sauce. It’s very filling, so I’d suggest ordering it with a group of friends. The place gets really busy during dinner time, so I’d suggest calling before arriving to the restaurant to see how busy it is.

Their tonkotsu ramen is really delicious. The broth isn’t too salty and it’s rich and flavorful. It had eggs, fishcake, corn, mushrooms, and green onions. I also got takoyaki which was great as well and I’m happy to find a place closer to home that makes it. Plus, they have a nice customer service, place is clean and they take card.

After a 5mile hike that lasted 2.5 hrs we were starving and cold! My friend quickly Unilocaled something and Onishicho was only 6 minutes away with almost a perfect rating we just had to go! Staff were really nice and even offered us complimentary popcorn chicken and salad. The lady even brought over edamame as she knew my sister and I were vegetarian and thought the salad wasn’t enough. How thoughtful and totally understand where the high rating is coming from! They are super generous which is always a great sign! Our ramen came out and i was just happy that they have a vegetarian broth option and though it was probably not the best Ramen Ive had it was still good enough to satisfy my hunger and being cold!

NEW ramen joint that was close enough to our WINDCHILLED hike in Upland, perfect! love that they have a sesame seed and hot pepper flake jar on each table, adds a nice kick to your food, even though i already asked for my ramen spicy —spicy #1 tonkatsu ramen: comes with a delicious soft boiled egg! my only gripe is the ramen noodles weren’t great. they were way over done and soft. I like my ramen noodles with a bit of al dente chew(AND i even ordered the thin instead of medium thickness noodles which are supposed to be chewier) NOTE: they offer a vegetarian broth which was perfect for my vegetarian friend who still craves ramen!

I like how they offer the instant online order and pick-up. Perfect for someone like me who needs to just pick-up and go since I’ll usually limited on time if I’m working in the area. Ordered the Tonkotsu ramen. Not bad tasting, but lacks sensational flavor. This is Tonkotsu ramen, you expected a rich kick with that pork broth. It was very average, no wow factor, there wasn’t a sensation of, «I want more.» Noodles were a bit runny and was breaking apart easily, didn’t stay together at all. But I like that they tasted fresh, a little thicker, good texture. It was a good, on the go meal, but if I had to rank it with all the other ramen places I’ve been to, this place would easily be forgotten and swept under the rug.
