The best beach in South Florida! Wide beach area. No erosion here! Great grassy area to hang out if you don’t like the sand.

Everything you can expect from an Atlantic facing beach! I love it! It was quiet and not over populated during my visit, and the first 3 days I was here happened to be an invasion of Portuguese man of war jellyfish. After they cleared out, the beautiful beach was perfect. I love this area, and will be back.

Surfers, pier, nice sand, cheap parking.

I come here frequently to get some exercise in. It’s typically early in the morning. I love the renovations they’ve made to this area. Absolutely beautiful. You can clearly see they take great pride in the landscaping of the grass lawn section.
My minor complaint is that they have lots of greens-​keepers working on Sunday morning. They’ve got their blowers and they’re blowing leaves and creating a lot of noise pollution. Folks are typically scurrying out of the way to accommodate them. Could they possibly conduct their work during Monday to Friday and not on the weekends? Or, even earlier in the morning? Just a thought.
They have the Pompano Beach pier, which attracts a lot of fishermen and fisherwomen and fisherkids. Also, they conduct exercise (yoga) groups on the south end, where artificial turf had been installed.
There never used to be a reason to visit this area, but now there is. I see, too, that they’re building a new parking structure. I’m not entirely clear how that will fly with all of these residential condo residents.

I’m a rare South Florida native. Specifically, I was born and raised in the Pompano Beach/​Lighthouse Point area. And even though I grew up around here, I never visited my hometown’s beach. I always chose Deerfield or Hollywood instead. But Pompano has spent millions of dollars to revamp the area, including the beach, and wow, it’s definitely paid off.
It was no trouble to find parking about a block north of Atlantic Blvd on A1A, in spite of the nearby construction (for a seven-​story garage, no less!). With my beach chair and umbrella in tow, I made my way onto the sand. I passed a big children’s playground and a covered workout station, with several machines that had resistance dials. What a cool idea. I found a spot close to the pier (which I noticed has a concessions stand, but I didn’t check it out).
I figured it would be a busy beach day, since the weather forecast was darn near perfect. Even though I saw a good amount of people, it didn’t feel crowded since the beach is so expansive. This is in stark contrast to Fort Lauderdale’s beach, which is incredibly narrow thanks to beach erosion. People are packed like sardines there. It’s the complete opposite here. It’s a good distance from the road to the sand, and I had no trouble at all finding a nice spot not too close to others.
It’s important to mention that this is by far one of the cleanest beaches I’ve ever seen. It’s fairly easy to spot trash on most other beaches, but this one was spotless. It’s really nice to see how well Pompano is maintaining the area, making this much more inviting than other beaches.
I’d make a point to come here for the beach even if it was far away, that’s how pleasant of an experience this was. The fact that it’s so close to home just makes it even better. I can’t imagine that this place will remain a secret for long, so come enjoy before the word gets out.

I feel bad for the person who had parking issues, but fortunately that didn’t happen to us. Parking was great. We parked right on the street and paid the meter. The walk to the beach wasn’t bad, but the sand was HOT. Definitely keep your shoes on. Chairs and an umbrella was available for $ 10 hour or $ 40 the whole day. Best investment if you don’t feel like bringing your own. I kind of hate to share this place because then more people will find out about, but caring is sharing. Next time I’m down this way I would without a doubt take the drive to this beach!

Pretty beach. Not many places to walk around to but it was nice and calm. There are some wooden lounge chairs on the beach… Not very comfortable but at least you can sit on something other than sand.

Very disappointed. The water was as dark as coffee. Seaweed littered the beach. Expected more. Probably won’t be back.

Pompano Beach, Florida’s Warmest Welcome. I do not think so since receiving a second bogus parking violation just weeks of each other! If you have visited Pompano Beach and received a parking violation make sure you review it throughly! I purchased parking time through the Passport Parking app which is advertised on their parking meters. The transaction went through, I was given a transaction number with an end time and countdown clock. With 15 minutes remaining I was issued a parking violation for «overtime parking» when in fact that was not the case! I called the app company to ask them why this had happened and they forwarded my call to the Pompano Beach parking company by the name of Denison Parking Inc., THAT’S RIGHT a profit driven third party that is handling the City’s duties for them. All parties involved are either corrupt or inept, and either one is unacceptable!
I took the time to address my last bogus parking violation through emails with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and District Commissioners. While the Commissioners replied and acknowledged my concern and issue, they offered zero guidance or course of action. Someone in the Public Works Department asked for my citation number to review the case and still nothing! After waiting a week I went to Parking Office of Pompano Beach to contest the violation, thinking I had to do it in court at a later date. Not the case, he pulled up the violation looked at the picture and said he wouldn’t have written that ticket, and simply voided it right then and there. A ticket for parking over the line, a picture proving I was not «parked over a line» and yet I was still had to take time out of my day to handle this BS in person. So, if people are visiting, do you really think they will want to take time out of their vacation or schedule to fight this or simply pay the $ 35? My guess, just pay it and move on. If enough people just pay it then win win for the profit driven Denison Parking Inc and City of Pompano Beach.
I live in Pompano now so I don’t have much of a choice but to try and fight these inadequacies. If you’re looking for a nice town to vacation in or visit, I would suggest you keep looking elsewhere until this gets fixed, because the way I see it right now, nothing has changed and it is sadly a form of legalized pick-​pocketing.

I don’t want to tell you about how beautiful this beach is because then you’ll want to come here and make it crowded.
One of the best things about this place is the lack of crowd. I love that it’s busy but you’re not overwhelmed with people like at other beaches.
It’s clean!!! So clean.
The bathroom facilities are decent too.
It’s great for families or solo ventures.
The pier is great too. You can watch fisherman or do a little fishing of your own– you choose!
It’s definitely a new favorite spot of mine.

Oh my. Pompano Beach is what I’m talking about. Maybe because I parked my butt in a chair at the public beach (with adjacent metered parking lot), this beach was super clean and lovely.
As I drove adjacent to the beach on Sunday (vainly hoping for nearby parking since my time was limited), I saw there were plenty of grassy areas close to the road and beaucoup families barbecuing and having fun. There is even a jungle gym area.
Beautiful sand, low key people, gorgeous water. Sigh… I want beachtime now.

Great place to bring the family especially with what the city has done with reconstruction and beautifying the area! Nice place just off the beach for the really little ones, a burger shack, workout area and jungle gym! Pompano Ocean Rescue is highly professional and great local eats!

This beach is beautiful with plenty to do with a family– a gym on the beach and a really big playground! The seashells are everywhere if you enjoy collecting them, people are so so friendly, in fact an older gentle mam stopped and chatted with me giving a really cool seashell. The sand is really clean and white.

This small public beach is amazing for South Florida. There are two places for kids to play, local shops across the street, and more expensive convenience food even sold at the beach. The abundance of parking is also a plus.
But the best part of the beach is the calm and clean beach. It is not over crowded and they staff of Pompano Beach clean the beach from trash and rake it daily. This is a beach that I enjoy walking on, watching the surfers, and relaxing.
If you are planning in going to South Florida I recommend this beach.

The Beach keeps improving with many additional new improvements on the way. Some GREAT OLDIES STILL HERE. like Briny Pub & Razzleberry Ice Cream! Pompano Beach is Clean & ALWAYS entertaining with events on the beach great food & music soooooo what are you waiting for!!!

Such a great beach. Nicely groomed and have never seen it crowded and we’ve been there probably 5 times over the last 15 years. Fun activities available to rent — paddleboards, jet skis, boogie boards, etc.

I met my husband in 2010, right before he moved from California to Florida. Even though we barely knew each other, we agreed to do the long-​distance thing.
The only good thing about dating someone in Florida, is getting to go visit him in Florida! It didn’t take long for me to book a flight and check out all the places I’d been hearing about on the phone. One of my favorites was Pompano Beach.
The beach was really clean and nice, and not overcrowded. Water was warm; sand was soft. It’s hard to dislike a beach, but the absence of trash and crowds make this one especially memorable.

The City of Pompano Beach did a great job rebuilding the strip by the pier and obviously the word is out! It is more and more difficult to find a place to park, but the awesome beach makes it my first choice when wanting to relax.
The pier is great for fishing and/​or watching, as well as just enjoying the breeze and view. And it’s free!
The new pavilions are perfect for entertaining and very cost effective! We have rented twice now and both times were a hit! Plenty of grass for lawn games (croquet, lawn darts, bocce, etc.), a large charcoal grill, and two picnic tables in the shade. Smiles all around!
Since the pavilion area is right on the beach, a quick run to dip in the ocean is easy like Sunday morning!

Awesome beach! They have completely remodeled this beach and its just beautiful! The landscaping is gorgeous, the painted pavilions, the beach gym, the kids playground, the beautiful manicured lawns, its just outstanding! The actual sandy beach area is a lot larger than Fort Lauderderdale’s now disappearing sand. My only thought is that instead of putting so much parking they should have made room for more restaurants and bars.

I don’t know what it looked like before, but I know what it looks like now — and I am impressed!
I was invited to a media tour of Pompano a few weeks ago and was able to see all of the great changes they are doing including performance arts center, a multi use art gallery, additions to Atlantic Blvd and the rejuvenation of the beach.
There is a «grand lawn» that is used for live music or just to tan/​play games. There’s a massive kids playground, a pier and an advanced workout station with step machines and other equipment to tone your body — all while overlooking the ocean. It ALMOST made me want to work out!
Plus on Atlantic there are a couple of bars — which do happy hours and live music some nights.
They explained all of the additions, including the sidewalk — which was pricey, but lasts twice as long and just looks a lot nicer than regular concrete.
While there are still a ton of additions coming — including a frozen drink station (UM YES!) it is already a top notch beach destination. So glad I got to check it out.
PS: From what I hear the beach a few years ago was completely different and in dire need of a face lift. The facelift took some time but people in our group said the difference was «Extreme Makeover» status.
