The service from start to finish was sub-par. Took 10 minutes at the front desk at 8:30pm to get someone’s attention to check us in. Not fun but could over see the inconvenience to us. Then, I asked about local restaurants, the front desk person that I finally spoke to said, «don’t you see the restaurant right there?» The restaurant«right there» was in the hotel, it was empty and looked closed. However, we did eat there and it was good. Service was good also, but ONLY at the restaurant. Rooms were Red Roof Inn or Motel 6 comparable. NOHOTWATER for my shower or the others(4 people total) the next day. The rooms were not very nice considering the price. My wife finally had enough and brought complaints to the front desk. The manager on duty gave her 3 vouchers to the restaurant at the hotel(the same one we ate at) but before my wife could walk away, she asked for one voucher back!! She only gave us 2! Seriously?! Who does that! Well, the folks at Sands Harbor«Resort»!! # SAVEYOURMONEY… I DONOTRECOMMEND.

Don’t expect friendly service From Mark or Will on the patio bar. Both of these guys act entitled like they’re doing you a favor for serving you. Horrible personalities, no service skills at all, act like total A Holes. Mark has the personality of a beat down high school punk… No personality At All!!! The days of bartenders asking about where you are from, or what you like to drink are lost with this loser! You’re just a drinker at the bar who’s annoying him if you ask for a specific drink. What a friggin A Hole!!! Anyone can pour drinks… it takes a qualified person to be a bar tender. Stay away!!!

We have had our boat in the marina for 2 months. We stayed at the hotel 4 – 5 times. Rooms are always clean.

We stayed at The Sands July 18th2015. The receptionist unfrtunately did not inform us of the rock and roll band that was scheduled to play at their tiki bar that evening. There was absolutely no parking for hotel guests and I had to park my car in the dirt. The band was so loud that it woke my husband and I several times. We were informed by the front desk the music would stop at 11. Try 1:30 a.m. I called several times to find out when the noise would stop so we could sleep. The front desk informed me if I complained one more time I would be asked to leave. Earlier that evening I was called by the front desk to be informed that my car had been hit in their parking lot. Of course the witness of the incident gave the front desk drunken information on the car that hit me. Of course, hit and run. They were covering up what really happened. The next morning the general manager, Lorna, informed us the sands was family owned and operated and they had been known to split the damage with hotel guests. Two days later I contacted Lorna, about the incident and she said they would not do anything to help us out. They were not sure that the car had not been damaged prior to our visit. Kind of funny, since it was one of their bar patrons that informed the front desk Saturday night that my car had been hit by another car. She also informed me that this is a public parking lot. I specifically saw the sign as we drove in that said hotel guests only. I also made it clear that it was one of their bar patrons that had informed them of the damages done to my car. Basically calling me a liar. We were very unhappy about the outcome. This was a special birthday weekend for my husband and the Sands Resort ruined it. Their lobby is deceiving. The rooms were very old and rundown. We are locals in South Florida and would have continued to revisit the sands. With the treatment we received from the staff that will never happen. Patrons BEWARE. They didn’t even comp our room. Like I said BEWAREBILL and KATHYMAYBEE2000.00 damage to my car.

Clean rooms. Great staff. Wonderful location — 10 minute walk to the beach and within walking distance of many good restaurants. The pool area tends to get a little crowded, especially on the weekends. And parking is a little bit hectic, but other than that, our stay was totally enjoyable!

For a night or two it’s not bad at all. The location is prime, with everything within walking distance. The hotel is old so don’t expect anything fancy. Very small shower, but the bathroom area is not bad. Bring your own pillows because they only provide one and it’s horrible. The pool area and dock area are very nice and apparently open to the public. They were very friendly and hospitable. The parking is free and ample which is always a plus. We didn’t get to try the food, maybe next time.

Well, it all comes down to what yer lookin’ for… I don’t go to The Sands to enjoy their n’er updated hotel rooms. I go to The Sands to kick back with real Florida locals at the Patio Bar. The sea air worn tables, umbrellas, chairs as well as tent-flap covered bar sit against the Intercoastal Waterway just catty-corner from the well-loved and upscale, Houston’s. If what you’re looking for is old time Florida rather than golf shirts and Gucci, you might just fall in love here. When you happen upon the resort, you will likely«gulp», wondering just what you’re getting yourself into. But as your round the bend to the outdoor bar, you’ll hear live music, see bartenders laughing with weathered locals and feel like you might have just find your new go-to. The wait-staff is friendly, busy and occasionally sarcastic, always willing to talk you into a float on your Rum Runner and laugh with you about some crazy somethin-or-other ya just saw walk by. The food is good quality bar grub. Wraps, wings, blackened mahi, shrimp, clams or pizza. The bar sits just against the hotel pool, which patrons(and their kids) are welcome to use. The whole experience is like hanging out at an ocean pool party with super laid back folks. So, if you’re hankerin’ for a place to go for good people watchin, great drinks and food while the tikis burn and the palm trees sway, put on your well-worn flip flops, throw a tshirt over your suit and go grab a seat at The Sands Patio Bar. Oh, and be sure to get a float on that Rum Runner!

The Sands bar/restaurant is a great place to grab lunch and watch boats cruise down the inter-coastal. They have strong drinks, great peel n’ eat shrimp, and conch fritters. I’ve been lunching at the Sands for about 10 years now and it has yet to disappoint.

I really like Pompano… … it is the closest point to the scuba diving I want to do … It is not too overwhelmed by high rise apartments(yet) … and when I heard that 9 — yes, NINE! — cruise ships were docking in Miami ports over the weekend, I was glad and thankful to be far enough away so to not run into the 30,000+ cruise fanciers pouring onto shore But then there’s Sands Harbor Resort… this place is like a lucky dip. Within our group of 8; — one room had full kitchenette… stove-top, oven, microwave, fridge & the works — one had a microwave and fridge in the bathroom — one had a coffee maker only — one had none of the above Did I mentioned we all paid the same price? We chose this hotel as it had a deal with the dive shop(approx 10% discount for divers). It is clean, basic and in a convenient location. It is on the Inter-coastal, and the hotel delivers the promise that every room has a water view… the beach is only a 5 minute walk away. The hotel has a very good bar(Patio Bar) and restaurant(Joe’s Riverside Grille). The bar is well patroned by both locals and tourists alike… I know this to be a fact having spent every afternoon of my 4 night stay there. Their Run Runners were an absolute treat after a long sunny day on the ocean… so OK that makes it three nice treats :) The biggest problem of this hotel is that its run down. It still has early 90s décor and there are certainly structural and maintenance problems; — the roof over my bathroom was lightly dripping(burst pipe upstairs?) — there was a large section of balcony missing from the penthouse level(which every person in the bar can see) — I could feel my next door neighbor ‘doing the funky’ on Friday night(the walls were shaking) Another problem we encountered was the lack of outdoor areas which a hotel guest can drink +eat food you bought yourself. You would think, given they put a kitchen in my room and no dining table to speak of, that I should be able to bake up a batch of hors d’œuvre and crack open a bottle of wine and sit in a common area(e.g. by the pool) with my friends. Well actually NO — you can’t do that according to the Manager. The entire pool area is licensed and you cannot bring food or drink into the area due to liabilities. I was very puzzled by this since that would mean kids are running around in a bar(around the pool) with relatively low supervision, and the only area we can gather for home cooked food & bought drinks is in the lobby! At the end, I think someone needs to keep their story straight and consistent. It was a real downer on an otherwise great visit.
