It’s never too late! Beer with donuts AND Unilocalers? How did I miss writing a review for this one?
This has to be my second event on a weekend but the first early event (12pm). When I was reaching my destination, I thought my GPS was making a mistake but sure enough, it was located at the very end. I would have never stumbled upon this place on my own. Upon walking in, the interior definitely didn’t match the exterior. I like that you were able to see to the back from where we were sitting as well. I rushed to chug my coffee in the car before heading inside to only be welcomed with coffee at each table :(
For the next two hours, we enjoyed pairing of beers with different donuts from rhino doughnuts, a place I been meaning to try so I was killing a lot of birds with one stone (lol). Note: I am a beginner at beer. I was able to finish each beer we got so this to me is a success, they taste that good and didn’t make me cringe. My favorite donut was the crème brûlée.
The brewery tour was my first so it was really informative. So much work goes into beer! While Adam spoke about the work behind the beer, you could clearly see the passion he had for the beers they create. I was able to stay behind with Joe D. to take advantage of their flights at 50% for the week so we tried other beers we didn’t get to try during the event.
Everyone was able to go home with a Unilocal cup which is being used all the time in my home. Big thanks to Bangin Banjo, Rhino Doughnuts, and Blue for a great Brunch. Now I am in the mood for those donuts!

What abetter way to kick of YLBW than having a beer brunch at probably my favorite brewery right now in BPB area… Yes I said it. We were welcome by Blue, Adam and the team from Rhino donuts for what I would call the sweeties brunch I ever had.
First to start we got Coffee and a delicious sprinkle donut sandwich, eggs, ham and cheese on a fresh glazed with sprinkles donuts, probably that would’ve made my day, but luckily we were just beginning our journey. We got to try four amazing beers from Banging Banjo to pair them with four delicious donuts from Rhino donuts.
My favorite were Goze. We got a tour around the brewery hosted by Master Brewer Adam we were learned about the process of their beer and got to try what they will release in a few day candy cane stout.
Perfect event, tasting beer and playing games with friends while enjoying some amazing Rhino donuts. Excellent job Banging and Blue for the incredible brunch.

I’ve been wanting to go to Bangin Banjo ever since tasting their beer at Brew at the Zoo a few months ago. I was so excited when they were announced as the opening location for Unilocal Beer Week!
This event was so much fun, and so tasty! I had no idea that beer and doughnuts could taste so good together. Paired with a very spirited game of Cards Against Humanity at our «ladies only» table, it was a fantastic time. It was so wonderful to get to know some new people over some great beer and food.
Man, that opening egg, pork roll and cheese sandwich on a sprinkled doughnut was delicious. It was definitely my favorite of all the delicious doughnuts Rhino rolled out to us one after the other.
I’m normally a fruity beer kind of gal, with the occasionally porter thrown in, but I really really liked every single beer Bangin Banjo put in front of me. Yes! Hats off to BB for brewing some great libations! I can’t wait to go back and have the Gosegetter Gose and Moodoo Voodoo milk stout again. Oh, and maybe Odin’s Revenge, and to try the peppermint concoction we learned about on our tour. I absolutely see a few more Bangin Banjo flights in my future…
Speaking of the brewery tour, it was awesome! Thank you Adam for an entertaining and informative tour. I particularly enjoyed smelling and tasting some of the ingredients. It was eye opening and so interesting!!!

When you mix beer, donuts and friends you simply get everything you need in life, and that is exactly how our first event for the Beer Local Week started. The venue for the event was one of my personal favorite breweries, Bangin Banjo and the menu was a winner winner chicken dinner.
I have been to this brewery before, so I was very excited to spend my Sunday morning here while eating sweet treats from Rhino and sipping on some of the yummiest brews. Our first dish was simply B-​A-​N-​A-​N-​A-​S and it was love at first bite! We were giving a glazed donut stuffed with white American cheese, ham, a fried egg AND sprinkles on top (I WIN) Up until then I thought all of those donuts were nothing more than an urban legend since the only place I had seen them was on Triple D’s and many other Food Network shows, but this time it was all real and it went right to my belly!
After some heavy chatting, our first beer arrived in the form of a Gose. Now, I am a new beer drinker and most of the things I like are Stouts and Porters, but this Gose was simply refreshing and delicious. The Gose getter was perfectly paired with a pomegranate orange cheesecake donut (SAY WHAAAAT) Soon after that, we went for a tour to the production area where we learned how the magic happens. Our second brew came in the form of a Red Ale, and I have to say that was not my cup of tea. It was too hoppy and bitter for my taste, but it did paired phenomenally with the Crème Brulee donut (oh la la!)
More chatting and shenanigans took place, and soon the Pumpkin Porter arrived. My eyes grew bigger as I took a bite of the delectable Apple Cinnamon donut and then proceed to take a sip of the pumpkin goodness, that combination was made to create fireworks in your taste buds, because of how perfect it was. As the old saying goes «Nothing lasts forever» and with it our last beer of the event arrived. However, this wasn’t just any beer, but one of most chocolatey, rich and creamy beer in the land of brews… MOODOO-​VOODOO! This beer is one of my favorite beers of all times and I am so glad they closed the event with this.
The staff at Banjo was unbelievable, and super friendly as always. I love to come here as it is and after this event I love them more. They were super attentive to everyone and really took the time to explain to us what everything was. I will be back many more times, and I hope this event opened the doors for those non-​beer drinkers to come back and give into the beer gods.

What an amazing kickoff to an entire week dedicated to local breweries! Bangin’ Banjo Brewing is one of my favorite local breweries and when I saw this event being paired with Rhino Doughnuts (my very first ROTD by the way)… just pinch me! Swoon!
We started off with a Jersey pork, egg and cheese sandwich… on a glazed sprinkle donut. Seriously, this has now ruined every future breakfast sandwich in life because I don’t think any future breakfast sandwich will be able to live up to a donut bun! I love sweet/​salty food combinations so the sweetness of the donut paired with the «saltiness» of the ham, egg, and cheese were an unbelievably delicious combination! Our first beer/​doughnut pairing was a Pomegranate Orange Cheesecake doughnut with the BBB Gosegetter Goose which was awesome! Both were appropriately tangy and had the right amount of ‘zing’! Really perfect pairing. Next we had Odin’s Revenge Belgian Red Ale and a Crème Brulee doughnut which was, by far, my favorite pairing! Odin’s Revenge BRA is one of my favorite beers and a crème brulee doughnut… who wouldn’t like that? Super yummy! Next we had an Apple Cinnamon Fireball doughnut (oooohhhh yeah) paired with their County Fair Pumpkin Porter. This beer was a little dark for me but had really great pumpkin flavor and was actually quite good. The doughnut was like an apple pie with a hint of fireball; kind of wish it had more fireball/​cinnamon flavor but overall this was also delicious. And last, but certainly not least… BACON! A Maple Bacon Vanilla Custard doughnut paired with probably the darkest beer I’ve ever tried, their Moodoo Voodoo Milk Stout. I have to admit this was my least favorite pairing. The doughnut was a little lacking (especially in the bacon area) and I’m really just not a fan of milk stouts so it was hard to really enjoy this one but the pairing went very well together.
The tour with Adam was also a really great experience! This was actually my very first «official» brewery tour so it was really awesome to see what goes on behind the scenes. Their brew room is really open to their tap room so you can probably watch them do their thing whenever they’re brewing. Although, I’m not sure if we got as much information out of it as the other groups since our group (a bunch of giggly girls hopped up on sugar and beer) was already 4 beers and 5 doughnuts in at that point but either way it was a good time! LOL!
It goes without saying that my favorite part of these events are the awesome Unilocalers I get to meet and hang out with! I don’t know how I always get so lucky to sit at these awesome tables at Unilocal events but playing Cards Against Humanity, drinking beer, and eating donuts on a Sunday morning definitely wouldn’t have been the same without Nancy M., Michelle W., Reixa C., Colleen R. and especially Linda L., Tairyn A., and Kimberly D. who are the newest group of friends! Shout out to my beer shirt buddy Hiram for totally getting the memo and wearing our HopCloth beer shirts! We should start a club! (#justsayin) LOL! Thanks to Blue for setting up a truly amazing event; the staff at Bangin’ Banjo for entertaining us and providing so many amazing brews; and to the awesome peeps at Rhino who continue to delight me with their amazing doughnuts! #DRINKLOCAL

This event was Homer Simpson approved! Beer & Donuts!!!
This was actually one of my favorite events of the year and a great way to kick of Unilocal’s Local Beer Week. We were greeted by our host Blue who introduced Adam of Bangin Banjo Brewing Company. This brewery got its start in Gainesville (Go Gators!!) but I’m sure glad they made their way down to BPB! I really enjoyed the beers and pairings.
I also loved the décor of Bangin Banjo. Very rustic, but warm and homey. It was a nice change from the typical industrial brewing spaces of newer craft breweries. It was also a perfect setting to get to know my fellow Unilocalers. I was glad to sit with Dorothea P., Joe D., Crystal A., Caryn B., and Robert M. Those guys are Uno card sharks!
Our tasting started off with an amazing breakfast-​sandwich creation. Warm scrambled eggs, gooey cheese, and thin-​cut bacon between a glazed donut with sprinkles! Holy cow! This is breakfast I wish I ate everyday. What a yummy treat. But it didn’t stop there, Rhino Donuts and Bangin Banjos put together these delights:
1. The Gosegetter (a fruity-​sour) paired with a pomegranate, orange cheesecake donut.
2. Odin’s Revenge (a Belgian-​red) paired with a crème brulee donut.
3. Moodoo Voodoo (milk-​stout) paired with a maple bacon donut.
4. Country Fair Pumpkin Porter paired with a Apple Fireball Donut.
I was really impressed with the Gosegetter and Moodoo Voodoo Milk Stout which are totally different beers. It speaks to the ability of these brewers to produce quality beers across the spectrum. The Gosegetter was light, with bubbly carbonation, and a sour finish that was a perfect contrast to the sweet citrus and creamy center of the donut. Moodoo Voodoo was sweet and creamy with a nice roast. It was a perfect pair with the salty, yet sweet, maple bacon donut. The Rhino and Bangin Banjos team could not have married better flavors in those two pairing.
I also really enjoyed the tour led by Adam. He gave a complete overview of brewing without getting too technical and you could really tell he loved brewing. I would highly recommend this local brewery and plan to go back soon!

What a great way to kick off YLBW! Being new to the world of beer I’m always eager to try some of the new local breweries, and after Jessica G’s review of this place a few months back I’ve been wanting to try Bangin’ Banjo!
Like most breweries in the area Bangin’ Banjo is located in a nondescript warehouse district, but once inside you’ll fall in love with their rustic charm. It really is a nice space and would be a great Sunday afternoon drinking spot over board games with friends.
I grabbed a seat with some of Unilocal’s finest — Howard, Amanda, Patty, Jeanne, Yohe, Juliet and Kim. We spent most of the afternoon cracking up over Apple to Apples, and came down to a tie for winner — Patty and Jeanne, with Patty eventually taking the crown. (And yes Juliet whips are exhausting! LOL)

PAIRINGS!
The morning started off with a bang, and those who drink coffee got to enjoy some Rhino brew with our first sampling — a glazed sprinkle donut egg/​ham/​cheese sandwich! Seriously yum! I lean slightly towards the savory side of breakfast (ok it’s about a ⁶⁰⁄₄₀ lean) but combining sweet and savory is probably the best thing ever! I’m already thinking about how I can make a french toast egg/​ham/​cheese sandwich lol.
Next up, a delicious beer and donut pairing!
**Gosegetter and Pomegranate Orange Cheesecake Donut — probably my favorite beer of the day. Still not as sour as I like them, but the pairing with the orange donut enhanced the subtle orange flavors of the beer.
**Odin’s Revenge and Crème Brulee Donut — I must have gotten hungry at this point because I inhaled the donut before remembering to wait for the beer lol. I could tell though that the sweetness of the donut would have paired well with the beer lol.
**Pumpkin Porter and Apple Fireball Donut — the darkest pumpkin beer I’ve ever tried, and perhaps my least favorite of the four. My beer palate is probably not refined enough for such delicacies lol.
**Milk Stout and Maple Bacon — Ok, I’m not ready to use the word LOVE yet, but this beer intrigued me. Adam explained how they actually add lactose to the beer to get that milk flavor across and yes, I actually could taste it. I was that weird child who only drank milk growing up (seriously, no water, no juice, nothing but milk) so I love milk. I’m going to need to explore these Milk Stouts more! Oh and about the donut, yes it was great too lol.

TOUR!
Our group was the first to be taken on the beer tour by owner Adam. Adam did a great job of explaining the beer brewing process, while letting us in on some of Bangin’ Banjo’s twists on the process. Shhhh I’m sworn to secrecy lol. He kept the tour light and entertaining and let us try some of the grains (yes I still don’t think raw grains should be eaten lol).

After all the mystery leading up to Unilocal’s Local Beer Week, the BEERunch 2 at Bangin Banjo Brewing Company starts off the week with a BANG!
BBB beer paired with Rhino Doughnuts made for an awesome afternoon with some rowdy Unilocalers. BB Brewery is located at the back of 32^nd Street, in a very unassuming commercial buildings. Just follow the signs that say «BBB» and you’ll see the sign above the door. Inside, there are high tops and large picnic tables located inside, as well as several TVs to catch sports games. Before this event, I had honestly never heard of BBB, especially when they are located so close to where I live. But I was super thrilled to hear that the owners and brewmasters started their craft in Gainesville (GO GATORS!).
I’ve had Rhino Doughnuts on a many occasions through Unilocal,and just when you think you’ve had every kind of gourmet doughnut, they come up with even more inventive and tasty flavors! The event started with a savory breakfast sandwich: ham, egg, and cheese on a glazed sprinkle doughnut. I’m still dreaming of it as I write… the salty and sweet combination was so delicious, with the eggs soft and runny, just how I like. You get a filling breakfast and a touch of dessert all in one bite!
The rest of the event paired even more doughnuts with BBB beers, while the different tables played games or went on a tour of the brewery.
First: the Gosegetter Gose paired with a Pomegranate-​Orange Cheesecake doughnut. The Gosegetter is a carbonated, sweet and tart wheat ale. It tickles your nose while you drink it, and has a bright flavor. This was my second favorite beer that I tasted from the event.
Second: Odin’s Revenge Belgian Red Ale is an ale with a hearty, biscuity and toasted caramel flavor. Ales are heavy and knock me out when I drink them, and this beer was delicious and tasted like a Norse god would drink it at his table. It was paired with the Crème Brulee doughnut.
Third (and my FAVORITE doughnut): Apple Cinnamon Fireball Doughnut with the Pumpkin Porter. This pairing tasted like fall in my mouth. The doughnut was fun and not too sweet. The apple pieces were soft but still crunchy, just perfectly made. Pumpkin flavored everything comes around during fall, but the Pumpkin Porter is no gimmick. It has the taste of pumpkin, but also nutmeg, ginger, and cinnamon; roasted spices that give the beer a deeper and developed flavor.
Fourth: Moodoo Voodoo Milk Stout with the Maple Bacon Donut. This was my FAVORITEbeer, hands down. I love a smooth stout beer, and the Moodoo Voodoo was perfect! It was roasted, coffee-​chocolatey, milky… When I come back to BBB, this is the first beer that I want to get. The doughnut went great with the beer; the bacon bite was cooked perfectly on the doughnut. It wasn’t wilted or greasy. The bakers at Rhino Doughnut really outdid themselves at this event.
The tour of the brewery in the back was very insightful. I got to taste some wheat ingredients that go into the beers, which was interesting. The fresh taste of the ingredients really show how much care is put into BBB beers. If you plan on visiting BBB for a tour, be sure to wear closed toe shoes for safety precautions. I also assume that it’s dog friendly, because some regular customers came in with their dogs on a leash. I really appreciated this event for showing me a local brewery and a new drinking hole that is very accessible to where I live. I’m excited to support local business and for the rest of Unilocal Local Beer Week! Thanks Blue!

Best way to spend Sunday Funday? Unilocal’s Beer Week Kickoff BEERunch Event!!! Artisan Craft Brewed Coffee, Chef Made Doughnuts & Locally Craft Beer all served with the Southern hospitality charm of Bangin’ Banjo’s Brewery in Pompano.
Definitely of my favorite breweries. This taproom reminds me of being in Tennessee in a cabin. I want to stay here all day! We occupied all four of their wooden picnic tables. As soon as we walked in, we hear Nancy M. saying «Come sit with us». In our table were familiar faces like Jenn F., Michelle W., Colleen R, and new friends Linda L. Tairyn A, and Kimberly D… LADIES TABLE!
We had Rhino Doughnuts coffee which was delicious with the Jersey Pork Sandwich. It had egg & cheese and instead of the sandwich bun it was a Sprinkled Doughnut. GENIUS! Or as Blue A. said it best with his «dad» joke «EGGcellent.»
The brewery has a table full of board games for their patrons so of course we had CARDS AGAINST HUMANITY. Biggest joke of the afternoon… MAN MEAT!!! So glad to be sitting with these ladies playing this game. We all got to know each other’s sense of humor quite rapidly.
First pairing was the Orange Pomegranate Cheesecake Doughnut with the Gose Getter (4.4% ABV). The beer, a German-​style sour wheat beer with Florida orange zest and coriander, was tart and bitter and it paired well with the fruity and tart flavors of the doughnut.
Second pairing was Crème Brulee Doughnut paired with Odin’s Revenge, Belgian Red Ale (5.9% ABV). A lot of the ladies in the table liked this beer because it was very easy to drink.
Third pairing was Cinnamon Fireball aka «Drunken Doughnut» paired with the Pumpkin Porter (seasonal). This doughnut smelled like… insert Pit Bull’s voice… FIREBALLl… It was perfectly paired with the seasonal Pumpkin Porter.
Last but not least, the Maple Bacon Doughnut paired with Moodoo Voodoo (4.5% ABV). The doughnut had a piece of delicious bacon on the top. This dark rich milk stout was my favorite. It has a coffee roast smell.
We also toured the brewery with Adam Feingold, one of the co-​owners of Bangin’ Banjo Brewing Company. He explained how it’s done at their brewery, everything that is brewing (Peppermint Beer anyone?), and he even let us taste some of the ingredients in their beer.
At the end, we all got to take home some swag, a Unilocal glass!

I’ve always stuck with liquor and wine, so today’s event was something different for me. I joined a few of my fellow Unilocalers for the first ever Unilocal’s Local Beer Week kickoff. I didn’t think I would enjoy any of the beers that were offered today and I was proven wrong. Of course, the doughnuts played a factor in this as well. Beer and doughnuts? This is something I would not go for normally, but would I do it again? Oh yes!
Rhino was on duty to serve us some of their fabulous doughnuts along with Bangin’ Bango pairing it up with different types of beers. The first one was a sprinkled glazed doughnut sandwich with egg, cheese, and sliced pork. It was served with coffee for the ones that wanted it and the sandwich was awesome! It had a nice balance and wasn’t too sweet or too salty. The pomegranate orange cheesecake doughnut was paired with the Gose Getter. It was an excellent combination. The Gose Getter had a light tart taste with a little bit of bitterness from the orange peel similar to a cider mimosa. The crème brûlée doughnut was paired with a Belgian red beer. The beer had a fruity aroma with a nice balance to it. The maple bacon doughnut was paired with the Moodoo Voodoo beer. The beer was smooth with a nice malt to it. The apple cinnamon fireball doughnut was paired with a pumpkin porter beer. You can never have enough pumpkin in a beer. It was different, but good as well.
Each table was able to go on a tour of the brewery. Adam did an excellent job with describing all the fundamentals of making a beer. It was neat to learn how the beer process works and see the action behind the scenes. He answered any questions that we had about it and it was a fun learning experience.
Thanks to Bangin’ Bango and Rhino for making it a Sunday Funday for all of us! You filled up with delicious doughnuts along with some awesome brews. The educational tour and gracious hospitality made this event wonderful. We played the Apples to Apples game at our table and I happened to win the first time ever playing it. I may have not got a prize, but it was all in good fun. All of us got a Unilocal pint glass and I’ll be using it for a cold one pretty soon. Thanks to Blue for a bangin’ awesome time and looking forward to having a couple or few rounds of flights this week for half the price!

Since there are so many new craft beer places in the area, I felt like I owed it to my Unilocal friends to acquire a taste for beer. I have read a bunch of good reviews for Bangin’ Banjo, so I put it on my «Yelp’s10 firsts» list for this year.
While I would never have thought of pairing beer with doughnuts, Bangin’ and Rhino did a superb job of pairing the two. It was great to start off with the ham and eggs on a glazed. The sweet and salty totally worked.
We had an interesting tour of the brewery and learned all about the process of making beer. We actually got to sample some of the grains. While the first one tasted pretty much like bird seed, the second one was really pretty tasty… just needed some light roasting and salt. :)
What I learned in the course of the sampling is that I really prefer the dark beers to the light. My favorite of the morning was the Odin’s Revenge. Of course maple bacon donuts will always have my heart… and stomach. :)
While we sampled, we had a great game of Apples to Apples to keep us laughing. Congrats to Patty W. For taking the prize, even if we didn’t have one.
After this, I’m really looking forward to my next beer experience!

What a great way to end a weekend at a brewery enjoying some great beers and awesome donuts. And it’s also just the start of Beer Week. And I was so excited when I heard that Blue was doing a beer brunch at Bangin Banjo since this is one of my new favorite brewery’s.
BEERS… and DONUTS…
Before we started our beer brunch we got to have some coffee with a glazed donut breakfast sandwich. This donut sandwich was so good; it had egg, jersey pork (ham) and cheese on a glazed donut with sprinkles on top. Wow… RHINO DONUTS, you gave me a good idea to make this at home for breakfast too; so i will be stopping by to pick up those glazed donuts.
First beer was a Gose and it was served with a Pomegranate Orange Cheesecake donut. This one was my favorite pairing. The beer was fruity and I thought I was drinking a mimosa and it went with the donut too.
The second beer was a Odins Revenge which was a red ale and they served it with a Crème Brûlée doughnut; not sure if I liked the beer but I did like the donut.
Third beer was a Pumpkin Porter served with a Apple Fireball donut and this pairing I liked a lot.
The fourth beer was another one that I also liked, the Milk Stout beer with a Maple Bacon donut. I really love dark beers so this one worked for me. It has a creamy taste to it and I always enjoy a dark stout with a desert.
We also got to go with Adam (one of the owners and brewers) to the back room and he showed us how they make the beers and with details of each step that the have to do and I was so surprised how much more goes into it than i thought.
Thanks Adam for having us at your brewery and sharing complimentary beer with us. We have been here before and always love how nice everyone is and love the atmosphere too. I also like that you are a gator too… GO GATORS!!!

Today was the day I got to enjoy ALL THE THINGS I LOVE (well, most of them anyway)…
FOOD (A.K.A. Sugar and/​or Brunch) :
Yes, I love food (shocker, right ?)… and in today’s case Rhino was there to feed my hunger for brunch… I like sugar too but I’m not much of a sweets or candy eater so Mountain Dew and donuts do play a part in my cravings for sugar and Rhino certainly does it well.
That first Donut Sandwich (glazed donut with sprinkles sandwiched around egg, cheese and sliced pork)… yeah, it’s not something I would think to do on my own even though it seems more sensible than gastropubs that make burgers on a «donut bun»… I liked… actually I liked it a lot !
BEER :
Yes, I love beer (another shocker, right ?)… and in today’s case Bangin’ Banjo Brewing was there to not only host our shindig but also provide us with some decent alcoholic beverages.
The Gosegetter Gose (unique version of a traditional gose style beer)… hands down my favorite of our Bangin’ Banjo beers today… great balance and easy to drink and best paired beer of the brunch

Yes, I love them too… but no shocker here and today I got to finally meet some newer Unilocalers too

I had to set an iPhone reminder to not only put the event on the calendar but I made sure it was notated to remind me to NOT WEAR SANDALS… closed-​toe shoes or else you couldn’t go on the brewery tour (where the «magic» happens) but being the brewer and all-​around nice-​guy he is, our host Adam stilled allowed those rebels and rule-​breakers to still partake in the tour…
Keep an eye out for Peppermint Stout to be released later this month…
AFTER-​PARTY :
Where would you expect to go after a beer event? Of course… another brewery and what better way to support (2) things… a local business and another brewery participating in the « Unilocal’S LOCAL BEER WEEK» !
A bunch of us headed up to Barrel of Monks and it was nice to see a bunch of us took advantage of the HALF PRICE FLIGHTS… thanks to Unilocal !

Today, being the first day of the Unilocal BPB Beer Week, Blue couldn’t of jump started this week any better than being at Bangin’ Banjo and having Rhino donuts contribute to a great craft beer and donut-​food pairing. Bangin’ Banjo and Rhino donuts really gave us a great start to this great promotional Beer Week. For me, this was such a great day because being a wine lover and not really having the chance to find the tastes I would love to have for craft beer, I was fortunate to get to go to this event with three of my «beer aficionado» friends who could help me understand the value of most of these rare beverages that are only made at local brewing companies. It really added to my day, so thanks Glenn, Hiram, and Patrick for taking the time to make this event more meaningful. Adam Feingold, one of the owners of Bangin’ Banjo who put this together for us, really showed me the other half of the puzzle; the process of beer making and the making of a successful brewery in Pompano Beach, located in a complex filled with local businesses and small warehouses.
When we arrived, I was so taken by how different the atmosphere was of this local brewery. It was not the «warehouse» type atmosphere a lot of the breweries portray, but it was decorated with so much more warmth, with wood paneled walls, decorative signs and a real colorful, laid out picturesque diagram of their brewing process that overlooks the tasting room that is mostly used for visitors who want to sit together at great wooden picnic tables and benches as well as wooden high top tables of four spread out all over the brewery. So clean and organized.
When we arrived, we checked in and all sat on the large picnic tables in large groups. We were offered coffee as we waited for the beer and donut pairing. All the tables had games we could play together, but our table were all the Unilocal BPB «conversationalists» who wouldn’t have the patience for games. After Blue spoke about the excitement of kicking off Beer Week here, Adam spoke about their start in Gainesville (GO GATORS) with home brewing in 2009, and their start and success, having Pompano Beach their home brewery and the craft beers they are making now.
What a brunch, great Craft beer, home grown with Rhino Doughnuts, a successful local donut company started in Ft. Lauderdale, with, now other locations. They started us off with the most delicious and unusual donut, a glazed, sprinkled donut stuffed with egg, cheese and pork, and calling it their New Jersey Pork Roll. A «delicacy donut» in my eyes.
First pairing started out with a bang for me because it ended up to be my favorite craft beer at «the Banjo», The Gosegetter Gose. It was creatively paired with the Pomegranate Orange Cheesecake. The first type of beer-​donut pairing of its kind!!! Second pairing was the Revenge Belgian Red Ale with the Crème Brulee donut. Not bad, but the Gosegetter Gose was still in my mind for later. The next 2 pairings were: Moodoo Voodoo with the Maple Bacon Donut, and the Apple Cinnamon Fireball Donut with the Pumpkin Porter. After this great beer tasting brunch with Rhino Donuts, I have a better appreciation for craft beer. Definitely, buying beer LOCALLY, is much better and so many great beers have been created here.
The tour Adam gave was very educational as he took us from the first step of heating and neutralizing the water in one vat to adding the grains as well as carbonation in two other vats. It was pretty apparent that this is his love and passion in life. He really explained it so I could understand.
All 4, 5 and 6 beer flights are creatively served on carved out wooden Banjos brought to your table or step right up to the bar to «strum up» your own combinations.
Personally, this was really a great day and I was so glad I went to this kick off event. I got to know some more of my friends better because of the love of beer, so much that we did not stop here, we went to a second brewery for a great, fun after party with more beer tasting and more discoveries.
To Blue, every time you do an event, I gain something different personally. Patrick and Jamie, so glad I got to know you two much better and Glenn and Hiram, you two know your beers like I know my wines and this was just great because of you all.

Amazing event to kick off beer week! So glad the event was at bangin banjo as I’ve had this on my to do list since they opened.
The venue and staff were very pleasant as to be expected. It was interesting taking the tour and seeing what goes into the brewing process.
The pairings of donuts courtesy of Rhino donuts? And beer courtesy of bangin banjo brewery of course we’re nothing short of amazing. They really went well and complimented each other nicely, even the pairing I wasn’t too fond of was still top notch!
Finally, the highlight of these events are the friendships formed, I had an amazing time at my table which consisted of all new faces to me. It was a pleasure meeting and conversing with all of you, you made the event worth every minute. (Hope you all weren’t too mad at me for winning uno) :)
I hung around for a bit afterward to take advantage of the check in offer and try a few brews that weren’t on the event menu, but that’s for a different review.

I love brunch. I don’t necessarily love beer, but want to expand my horizons with this craft beer phenomenon. I’m really excited for Unilocal’s beer week to uncover some tastes I may not have normally sought out.
While driving to Bangin’ Banjo Brewery (BBB), I must say it is not easily found. It’s in the back of an industrial park off Powerline Road between Copans and Sample. They do have a few lawn signs to help guide the way.
We were welcomed by our awesome CM Blue and immediately started to settle in with some Unilocal friends and admiring all the smells and view. I sat with Robert, Crystal, Joe, Erin, and Dorothea. We even had fun with a couple of games of UNO!
We had four pairings of a delicious Rhino donut and a BBB craft beer. My favorite was the pomegranate/​orange cream donut paired with the Gosegetter Gose, a really tart and fruity wheat ale.
We got to learn from Adam, Brewmaster and owner, of BBB while he led us in small group tours of the brewery in the back. Really interesting and his passion comes right through. Go Gators!
So glad I went and looking forward to trying more beers later in the week! Thanks so much Blue, love the Unilocal pint glass too!

Beer & Donuts! How have I never had beer with donuts? It seems impossible that I have gone this long without combining Homer Simpson’s two favorite things. Thanks BEERunch for making my dreams come true.
Bangin’ Banjo showed us some Southern hospitality and hosted us Unilocalers for a memorable event. Sitting on picnic benches and playing games transported us out of an industrial park in Pompano and into a backyard Unilocal family gathering. I do not feel like discussing my multiple losses at Uno so I’ll focus on the food and beverages. We got things started with a ham, egg and cheese sandwich on a fluffy Rhino donut. It was a delicious pairing of sweet and savory and that concept carried through to most of courses. Oh, so many courses. Some of my faves among all the great courses were the Gosegetter Gose with the pomegranate orange donut and the Moodoo Voodoo with the maple bacon donut.
I also want to mention the brewery tour we got from Adam. He was passionate and informative and made me want to taste all the different varieties of beer they make, even some of the failed experiments. Of course no Unilocal BPB event would be complete without Blue keeping everything fun. Looking forward to 6 more days of Beer!

It’s no secret. I love beers. When combining beers with brunch, that’s like music to my ears. To help celebrate Unilocal’s Local Beer Week, my wife Amanda Y. and I joined a few fellow Unilocalers in the first ever Unilocal’s Local Beer Week event.
I was very excited attending this event because I love to discover local breweries in our area. I’ve been to a few others and loved them all. So to attend and taste beers from a brand new brewery is like a real treat. Not only we did get to taste different kinds of beers made on site, we also get to pair different sweet yummies with each beers thanks to the folks from Rhino Doughnuts. I never thought of the idea of pairing beers with doughnuts, but since its a brunch, I am totally for it.
Before we started our beer tasting, we received hot coffee with a nice Jersey Pork with glazed doughnut. The coffee was probably a good idea to warm up my stomach first before I start drinking cold beers. Since I didn’t have any breakfast before I came, that Jersey Pork doughnut hit the spot nicely.
So lets talk about the beers with desert. First up was the Pomegranate Orange beer with a cheesecake doughnut. This beer tasted kind fruity, and feels like drinking a mjmosa. Very light tasting beer with goes well with the sweet cheesecake. The next one up was their Amber ale paired with Crème Burlee doughnut with the Amber Ale. Crème burlee is my favorite so this was my favorite doughnut of the day. The Amber Ale was not strong for craft beers and i like its malty flavor. Pumpkin Porter was paired with the Firebomb doughnut. I am not a big fan for pumpkins but I dont mind having it in this beer. But my favorite beer of the day goes to the Milk Stout. It’s a sweet and dark beer with a full body of taste. And yes, it taste like coffee and cream, but with alcohol it it.LOL.
Big thanks to Adam, the beer brew master and his staff for hosting this event. Not only we get to taste different beers, he also gave us a tour and explained to us how the beers are being made in the facility. Thank you Blue for making such a wonderful and educational event. And Blue, thank you for organizing this wonderful and education event. I am drinking a cold one while writing this review. This cold one is for you!

Beer for breakfast? count me in! Thankfully I was only 8 minutes away from The Bangin Banjo. I have been here only once before and i enjoyed my experience, however this event made me enjoy this brewery so much more.
After getting checked in, we grabbed some coffee and then a seat at the picnic tables. first thing i noticed on these tables was that it had a game in the middle of it. hmmm. Before i pondered any longer about the games, breakfast/​dessert from Rhino Doughnuts was on the way! Now this was absolutely amazing. Amazing because i wouldnt think it would work and after biting in to it i realized i wished i could have more! It was a sprinkle-​glazed Donut (used as the bread) with pork, egg and cheese. This was delicious i mean if it was possible, id order a few to go that very moment!
Up next was the Pomegranate orange cheesecake doughnut. This, mmm, i couldve order a dozen just because ! it was perfect! perfect size too. This just might be my 2^nd favorite doughnut ever… honestly could just be #1.but ill have to have it once more to decide lol. i enjoyed the Gosegetter Gose beer that it was paired with it too. i think i enjoyed that beer the most.
After that it was time for the tour! Adam was great in explaining the process of how they make beer. I noticed how passionately he spoke when explaining about all the different things they use and the science behind it. He had inside jokes on how the beer making process goes and even though i know i am not cut out to make beer in the future, it was great to see him in his zone!
Back at the table, it was time for pairing #2. The Crème Brulee Doughnut with Odin’s Revenge Belgian Red. Once again, the doughnut was ridiculously good and the beer went down nicely!
I learned a new game with the fun and entertaining group at the table. Who wouldve thought that whips were exhausting or that the NRA was cuddly lol
while laughing it up during the game, our 3^rd pairing was on its way over. The Maple Bacon Doughnut with Moo Voodoo. The beer was pretty strong for me at first but after biting into my doughnut, the beer went down much smoother. The last pairing was the Apple Fireball Doughnut with the Pumpkin Porter. Both were equally delicious with bold flavor! the apple Fireball doughnut reminded me of christmas morning! The pumpkin porter was yum!
This was a fun laid back event and i was super happy it was so nearby to me. i was also So glad to finally see my girl Kim T after a while! I enjoyed the fun with all the Unilocalers at our table. i hope to see you all soon. it was very nice! Thanks Blue for a wonderful brunch with awesome people, beer, doughnuts and lots of laughter!
