Hubby and I had the dinner bento boxes, hot saki, and hot tea. We travel from California to Missouri and back every Spring and Fall and this was our first time here. We will be back. The food was plentiful and excellent, good value for the price. I would have given 5 stars if not for the minor flaw. The miso soup was on the weak side and tea came lukewarm and had to be reheated. Except for that, we rated it excellent. It was actually too much food and wish the lunch bento box could be available for dinner. The staff was the genuine article with heavy Japanese accents, which lends credibility to the food. They were also super friendly. We are keeping this on our list of great places to eat!

I did not expect to find a sushi place this good in a small town! Sakura offers everything you can imagine sushi-​wise, along with hibachi grill items as well. I didn’t notice grills at any of the tables however. I’m strictly a sushi roll girl, so I didn’t experience the hibachi, but I was really pleased with my dynamite roll. That with edamame was plenty to fill me up, but their normal rolls (as opposed to the special rolls) are all very reasonably priced at $ 5/​each. You’d surely want to order at least two of those. We had great service and I was pleased with how nicely decorated and clean the restaurant looked and felt. I hope they continue to do well and offer something that maybe people who live here don’t get a chance to try on a regular basis.

When I heard that a Japanese restaurant is opening in a small town I refused to believe it, until it came into fruition. SAKURA! I LOVE! I personally recommend a few favorites: Sweet potato roll, Hawaiian roll, Captain Crunch roll, Pad Thai, Teriyaki salmon bento box plus many many more!

Had lunch there. Food was good, a bit pricy for lunch, but this isn’t a fast food restaurant. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Will go back to try their dinner menu.

The good: the lobster role was visually appealing and was delicious. The fried calamari were very good. My filet and scallops were good but certainly didn’t knock my socks off for the high price. My kids loved the noodles.
The bad: our waitress couldn’t really speak English, service was slow, the hibachi chicken was way over cooked, the fried rice was greasy and bland. The tempura chicken tasted like oil, dry, and just overall horrible. We fed it to the dogs.
Overall, it’s too expensive for the quality of food they serve and I’m not sure we will be back. This place just doesn’t come close to the experience I have had in other Japanese Steak houses.

Not really a sushi guy, but it’s pretty good here. The hibachi is good, but even better if you tell them to spice up the rice a little bit. Actually, that’s the whole reason for this review. That damn fried rice, with whatever hot sauce they used, was the best fried rice I’ve ever had. It’s a small thing, fried rice, but it’s so damned good that I ordered a second plate of it just to take home. Food comes hot and fast.
Only downfall, if you could even call it that, is the language barrier with the wait staff. They don’t speak very good english. BUT… our orders have been correct the couple times I’ve been in so far, so perhaps it’s not a big deal. They do, however, have some young punk playing host at the front desk that has a crappy attitude. If I’m coming to your restaurant to spend 20 – 40 bucks on rice and chicken, with 3 friends all looking to do the same, don’t act like such an ass when we (4 grown men) request a table, and not a tight booth.
Other than a minor customer service issue, this place was impressive and delicious. Looking forward to returning this weekend!

I love this place! We are lucky to have this restaurant in Ponca City. The staff is so friendly if it’s not right tell them and they will make it right. Everything I have had ordered has been wonderful. The lunch specials are very affordable. Give them a try.

Great sushi, decent hibachi, Pad Thai needed spice, rather bland. Decent prices. Great ambience. The TVs are in the middle of the restaurant which is good AND bad. They have a bar that will be ready to serve alcohol in November.
