The food quality is good. The service is great and the owner is very personable. The place also has a nice ambiance with plenty of characters that frequent this joint. I would have given more stars to this review if the food was better.

Five stars for food, price and service. I had the red beans, rice and sausage and my husband had a hamburger. The hamburger was no frills, but had lots of flavor. My husband really loved it. The beans and rice were great as well. Simple good food at a great price. My entrée came with a dessert. We chose banana pudding. Again, great. We left pretty stuffed. It seemed like one of those, «Where everybody knows your name» type of places. The staff was very attentive and kind. It reminded me of being back home or visiting my friends who had the dads who really want to make sure the food is good and everyone is enjoying themselves. We’d definitely go again.

I had the catfish and shrimp plate. It was really good. Onion rings are really, really good. Order those for sure. My son had red beans and rice and said it was as good as any he had ever eaten. Huge piece of sausage with it. I’d recommend to anyone. Service was outstanding.

Great food and great service. I’ve been there a few times. Paul(I assume it’s Paul, he looks like he’s in charge) is always there and walking around. He’ll point out customers to his servers that need something or even help out himself. It seems like it would make me nervous if I worked there, but I don’t, so it’s all good lol. He doesn’t chew them out or anything, just makes sure his customers are taken care of. It works because the staff is great. Friendly guy, makes you feel at home. He cares about his customers and his business. Food has always been perfect, biscuits are more than perfect. Low prices, no complaints. Check this place out.

Solid breakfast, great coffee, super friendly service. The local strawberry jam on fresh, homemade biscuits was definitely the star of the show. Bathroom is a bit odd. It’s a step up and is so small some people might not even be able to shut the door once they’re sitting. There were even handles on the door jamb to make it easier to sit down and get up Adorable town in general, and if we pass through again I’ll definitely come back!

Friendly, fast and delicious! Stopped in for lunch on the way north from New Orleans and it was perfect. The Shrimp po-boy was fantastic, as were the okra & tomatoes and roast beef po-boy. Many guests were raving about the plate lunch which came with a small desert, all for about $ 8. Seriously, if you are headed North from New Orleans and need a quick, delicious meal in a friendly atmosphere, Paul’s is the place to stop.

Paul’s Café was packed at noon on Sunday so we sat at the counter which we love to do. The service was quick, friendly and efficient. Paul stopped by a couple of times to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Great customer service. I had the red beans, rice, and sausage and split a bowl of gumbo with partner. Partner had the beef and gravy over rice. Everything hit the spot. One of the better meals on the road. Asked about the daily specials and already planning to go back Tuesday for the fried chicken. Local, casual, friendly, satisfying. What’s not to like?

Ok, first let me preface this by saying I go to Paul’s every time I’m in the Ponchatoula/Hammond area. It’s charming, friendly, and generally tasty. My usual choice is a poboy or sandwich with a Strawberry Daiquiri. My food is always very good. However, today my husband and I both got the specials– him red beans and rice and the roast beef and rice with gravy for me. Our food came out within a minute(yeah specials!) and we got to eating. My husband said his was good, not great, and my roast beef was disgusting. I mean bad. It was flavorless and tough as nails. The rice was ok, a little undercooked for my taste. I just sat there with my full plate and when the waitress came to bring our dessert(chocolate pudding, meh), she didn’t ask about why I had a full plate I wanted taken away. To be fair, the place was the most crowded I’ve ever seen it, and she was young and maybe scared to ask. I would definitely go back, because every other time, it’s been delicious. I’ll just avoid the specials at all cost.

Stopped by this little café on our way back from New Orleans. All I can say is this is one of the best café’s we have stopped at. Not only was the food amazing, the service was tops!!! My bf had the roast beef po boy and I had a cheese burger. His sandwich was HUGE! My burger was amazing! A typical diner type burger. The friends and onion rings were so good as well. The prices are very good! If you are ever passing through this area it is definitely worth the extra time to stop and eat there versus going through a drive thru.
