One of our favorite places to eat. Friendly service and good food with large portions. Do not understand why folks complain about the food… we like it.

The latest good review had to be written by owner or some starving person with zero Resturant dining experience. The food here would disappoint in a school cafeteria. Go open a can of ChopSuey.

Wow, if I had read the previous reviews I would have missed out on a REALYY great chinese dinner with my family. We ordered take out for 4 adults. It was ready in 15minutes as stated, piping hot and the woman who helped us was kind and gracious. When we got home we had an extra guest, no worries. The portion size of everything was more than the 5 of us could eat. Egg foo Young was excellent.(My husbands fav and he raved) My Kung Poa shrimp was spicy perfect and the ample veggies were done crisp, but not overdone. I also got my favorite hot and sour soup and the variety of mushrooms and balance of veggies again, wonderful. Shrimp fried rice, loaded with shrimp. Everyone raved about the food. I have eaten ALOTOF Chinese in San Fran, NYC, LA, Seattle and this was just as good as it gets. And the prices were reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any one looking for authentic chinese food served fresh, hot and in a timely manner. This is a gem in Sandpoint. I think if people are polite and kind persons they get better service. Way too often tourists in our town are rude as can be, i suspect others got what they deserved and should probably go back to california and leave the gems to us. I will be back again and again and hope to see the locals there who enjoy a good meal from very nice owners.

Our experience at this restaurant this past Saturday reminds me of two important truths — 1) we are blessed(spoiled, even) to live in the SF Bay Area where there is a plethora of incredible Chinese restaurants; and, 2) I should never go to a restaurant out of town without checking Unilocal first. I too had the same experience as the other commenters here. You would think with a nice Chinese family running the place the food would be better. This was BYFAR the WORST Chinese food we have ever had in our entire lives. We ordered three chicken dishes(sorry, my family was a bit one-tracked at this seating). The Lemon Chicken was chicken pieces coated in a batter and deep fried, then covered in this orange looking sauce(I thought lemon sauce was yellow)??? It was way too salty and the lemon flavoring did not strike one as lemon! There wasn’t even lemons used as a garnish to indicate what it might be. Next, the Sweet & Sour Chicken — eeks, the same chicken as the previous item, but this time coated in a brown sauce. Brown Sweet & Sour sauce? Seriously? It didn’t quite resemble in appearance or the taste of S&S at all.(BTW, this was the second restaurant in the upper Idaho area that served this horrid excuse for a S&S sauce). By the way, that’s all there was to it — deep fried battered chicken pieces, brown S&S sauce, and that’s it! No vegetables at all(carrots, peppers, onions, etc). The final dish broke the straw. We ordered Almond Chicken. Guess what it was? Same deep fried battered pieces of chicken, but this time coated in … ready for it? … Coated in chicken gravy! YES! Chicken Gravy! Where were the almonds? Well, there was some type of shredded(almost granulated) almonds tossed in with flour and something else to give it some base. No veggies! No nothing — just chicken, gravy, and some shredded almond-like topping. Please, northern Idaho residents and visitors — DEMAND better Chinese food from those restaurateurs in your midst. They come from a strong Chinese heritage. They are holding out on you! Yes, I know, bok choy and chinese cabbage are not indigenous crops in Idaho, but these restaurant owners can easily go down to Super 1 or Safeway and get some American equivalent veggies to incorporate in their dishes. My family and I were giggling out of the restaurant to the car(yes, we were discreet) knowing that we had just experienced the worst dining experience(let alone Chinese cuisine experience) of our lives. We enjoyed the warm chocolate chip cookies back at the hotel at least! :-)

I’d been here three times in the last two years with absolutely horrendous results. However, one couple at church said they were there recently and liked it. So, perhaps Golden Dragon had changed, ownership, management or attitude? Went last week. I’d hoped to find at least some/any improvement. What we found was dissapointment. Very substandard food. Looked and tasted bland… plastic. Uncaring, rude & unprofessional service. Owner/management completely arrogant, ambivalent to our problems with our lunch. So sad, they must have a money tree growing somewhere as this place is dead. Again, I suggest Safeway deli. No, its not good, but it is edible and nobody at Safeway is likely to yell at you. If you are willing to drive a bit there is a «better» place on sw side if Newport, or a nice place in Rathdrum. Honestly, this has dtiven me to learn to cook my own Asian food. So sad. They need to permanently close the doors.

Tried this place once… never again. Took one bite and couldn’t go any further… how can you mess up Lo Mein noodles. It always amazes me that the are still in business.

We were expecting good things when we tried this place. The staff were all Chinese, there was Chinese pop music playing on the stereo when we arrived, and everything looked promising. The food was just disappointing. I got the lunch special and only had a few bites before putting down the chopsticks in despair. Thank god our hotel didn’t have a fridge so we at least had an excuse not to take the leftovers. How this place has staid open for two years is completely beyond comprehension! Go to Bamboo Chinese in town an save yourself the agony.
