On historic Route 66 you get the feel that you are walking back in time entering and sitting down to a old school dining experience. Breakfast is a little better than average and the kind of place that you can go to every morning. Service was very good every time I was there. I wish I could rate this place 3 ½ because it’s not quite the place to be at four stars for breakfast.

Seriously? Could so not recommend to anyone! I ordered taco salad, how hard can that be? Ummmm, it was a bowl of tortilla chips, a cup of nacho cheese, a cup of salsa and a plate with icky lettuce with barely a tablespoon of taco meat and about for pieces of chopped tomato. Oh, and about a teaspoon of cheddar cheese. I wish I would have taken a picture. I looked at the waitress and said seriously? She could have cared less. Never again!

Yikes. Food was really bad and the service was weird. Walked in to the place and immediately felt like we were not welcome. I got a chicken Philly cheese steak that was not a chicken Philly cheese steak but a frozen chicken patty with tiny green peppers and onions on it and what seemed like ten french fries on a plate. My coworker got a burger and asked for mushrooms and onions on it. He got a cheeseburger with onions and fried mushrooms. We told the waitress that it wasn’t right, she didn’t do anything about it and only said«sorry» and walked away. It was quite obvious we were coworkers and not«together» as we both had high vis vests on when we went in. She seemed less than thrilled when we asked for separate checks when we received our bill. Overall a strange and less than ideal experience.

Drove up and thought the place was closed. So glad I didn’t drive away. The fried chicken was great!!! The best fried chicken I’ve had in years. The service was very friendly and helpful for us strangers in town.

Read the Unilocal!reviews and decided to pop in for lunch on our family roadtrip. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, maybe could have used some music. The waitress was kind and the food was great(loved the sweet potato tots)! I would definitely recommend stopping here for lunch.

Edible. Historic. Nice people. Unfortunately was not the best place for a meal. Husband had roast beef open face sandwich and the mashed potatoes were cold. Dad had country fried steak and instead of white gravy it came with beef gravy. Mashed potatoes… also cold. Chicken philly sandwiches barely had onions and peppers on it — sandwich was eh «alright». Old log cabin burger was pretty good. Waffle fries were not.

Friendly place with nice atmosphere. I think we might have had a better meal if we had ordered differently. The fish filets were very small in our fish basket, and the house made salad dressing on the iceberg lettuce chef salad was too sweet. We were happy to see sweet potato tots on the menu, but they were not as delicious as we’d hoped.

Thanks to Unilocal I was guided to this gem. Kitschy, friendly and good. I stopped at lunch with my son and at first glance was s bit skeptical due to only pick ups in the parking lot and the sign that mentions spirits. I didn’t want to walk into a local drunk hang out. Once you go in its a completely different atmosphere. You feel like your at a grandmas log cabin(who happens to collect Route 66 memorabilia). We sat at the bar, ordered burgers and coke — burgers were good and service was great. Topped it off with peach pie and apple crisp warmed — delicious. If you are in the area I recommend a stop — it’s better than most the places I’ve busted in downtown Pontiac.

Great food at an old school historic place to eat. The breakfast country skillet is awesome.

This place was great. Should definitely be featured on any trip to the Historical Route 66 Museum. Don’t eat anywhere else. Great food, amazing atmosphere and incredible service. Charming, registered historical landmark and still making great food. The beautiful décor is authentic, and invokes the feeling of comfort and community. Felt extremely welcome here.

Warm and inviting. Friendly people in a cute little diner type atmosphere. Food filling and reasonably priced. Not gourmet. Cheeseburger with chips and prime rib sandwich were fine. Rhubarb pie with ice cream was the best part of the meal. Tshirts and other Route 66 souvenirs for sale but I bought a Route 66 root beer for mine. I think it was worth the extra few miles off the highway but don’t ask Siri for directions. Use google maps instead.

Nostalgic Route 66 restaurant. Lots of memorabilia and souviniers. Food quality low to medium.

It’s worth the trip off hwy to eat here. Good price and fresh food. Don’t worry if the parking lot’s empty at lunch. Go in here! Btw you can put in a DVD and watch a movie!

This may be the worst place we have eaten. I ordered the Cod and it was still frozen. No one at our table enjoyed their dinner. When I sent back the Cod I was told that the busboy was cooking more fish for me. What is the busboy doing cooking the meals? Maybe that is why everything was so bad.

There’s nothing fake or phony about the Old Log Cabin. The history, food, and people are all authentic. The Old Log Cabin has been a favorite with locals for decades. If you’re looking for a taste of Pontiac, IL this is the place to go.

Authentic, cozy atmosphere rooted in Route 66 history. Restaurant filled with real locals. Service was friendly and fast. I ordered a breakfast combo with eggs, hash browns, and my first taste of biscuits and gravy. It was delicious! My boyfriend ordered eggs, crispy bacon that crackled when he munched on them, and perfectly buttered toast. Plus, theres a TV and a fully stocked bar for sports nights. Wonderful place, I high recommend the Old Log Cabin!

We live in the area, but were looking for a new place to eat on the way to Crescent Cinema in Pontiac. Found this place in an online search. Great roadside diner food. We had the onion rings, patty melt and double bacon cheeseburger. Cheap and delicious. We enjoyed the ambience and sat at the counter as all the tables were occupied during the dinner hour at 6pm on a Friday night. Seemed to be mostly locals who knew each other. We love the history of the place and are always looking for new spots along Rt. 66. We found the correct website and checked out their menu and history before we went. We will return and would definitely recommend!

Situated along the historical old route 66, this small town restaurant is exactly how I pictured it. I felt like I stepped into someones living room with several unmatching tables and chairs, a random bar along the back, «Uncle Greg» wearing a neckbrace and camo budlight hat, several fat kids wearing overalls and guns lossely displayed on the wall. I went for a late breakfast and I was extremely pleased to see large portions and low prices! Now, coming from an upper-middle class suburban/city upbringing, our party of 8 did get a lot of stares from the locals as we used words such as «Beamer», «lake house», and«Obama». Despite some farmers gawking at the girls at our table that had teeth, we were very pleased and will definetly go back if we find ourselves lost in the middle of nowhere. 4 stars!!!
