This place is awesome and it’s a great find for a small place. The BBQ is good and those baked potatoes are huge. We had the pulled pork, ribs and brisket.

Went here for the first time. Was in town and didn’t know where to go. Someone said to go here for great food. We walked in and asked how do we order and it was our first time. They were more than helpful. Suggested the loaded shrimp potato. It was awesome. Great job guys. Keep up the great food and service.

My girlfriend and I have been in New Orleans for 4 days now. We decided to go to Baton Rouge for 1 day. We found this place on Unilocal.Let me just say, this is one of the top 3BBQ joints I have ever been in. And I have been in Memphis, St. Louis and Asheville NC. Definitely must stop here when you are near.

Totally worth the drive to Port Allen. We were in and out of there in 30 minutes. Excellent service, quick and friendly. The food is absolutely amazing. We got a 2 meat platter, moist brisket and quarter chicken. Our sides were the fried okra and waffle fries. Next tjme I may swap out waffle fries with something else(looking at you potato salad.). They have 3 sauces and I honestly can’t decide which one I like best. The sweet? The smokey? The spicy? I just mixed them all together for perfection.

I search for the best Cajun out there we ran across this place. First off, the smell from here is wonderful. I am always game for rice dressing which is one of my favorite things ever and this place serves it up along side my other favorite, bread pudding. Both are spectacular. I ordered BBQ to compare with others plus gator balls and catfish with shrimp étouffée. The BBQ is good but not stand out. The BBQ sauces are though. On to the catfish étouffée. This was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Absolutely delicious. I will never order BBQ here again due to the fact they do serve some of the best Cajun food anywhere. Outstanding. Just outstanding. The gator balls are great but at about a buck a piece I find it a little high for a mini boudin ball. The bread pudding was also very very good. So here it is. BBQ no. Cajun YESYESYES. I’ll be back many many times.

I didn’t remember to take a pic but it was great. Many great menu choices, especially the stuffed potato. My friend had the ribs, he said they were great.

I love, love, love, Cou-yon’s! You can order anything off of the menu and you won’t go wrong! The smoked turkey, and the potato casserole is fantastic. Brisket melts in your mouth. Let’s not forget the stuffed baked potatoes! You can feed two people on them! Worth the trip across the bridge! Service is excellent.

The outside doesn’t look like much, but don’t be fooled — this place is definitely worth going out of your way for. Barbecue and Cajun, and both done very, very well. Fresh ingredients, great offerings, and great service. A must!

Great food, fast friendly service. I had their«Meaty Potato» with smoked turkey in it. It was delicious! It is a meal all on its own. Turkey was moist and tender. Everything my husband and I had there was very good.

Excellent food, great service, awesome music. I cannot say enough nice things. We came in on a rainy day and this place provided perfect refuge from the storm. I’ve been to some of the best BBQ Restaurants in the country and this is right up there. The BBQ isn’t the only thing worth trying. Their slash and fried green beans are out of bounds good! Highly recommend.

Great BBQ place just outside of Baton Rouge. The brisket is always fork tender. I recommend getting the 2 or 3 meat platter. That way you can try the ribs or smoked sausage. This is a great place for lunch because the service is fast.

Ridiculous. One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. I tore apart the shrimp etoufee stuffed baked potato with fried catfish. Also had smoked wings, fried okra and his puppies. I can’t believe how tasty everything was! Incredibly hospitable owners and staff and a clean restaurant. I can’t wait until I’m back in the area.

Whoooo! 44, that’s me! Gonna get some Cou-yon’s today. 44, ladies! Get some Cou-yon’s, get some Cou-yon’s. That intro will be completely irrelevant in 2 years when the Icky Woods Geico commercial is no longer in the lexicon of American tv watchers, BUT, that’s what we say when we head across the river for some BBQ. There are Cou-yon’s in several locations, but this is the only one I’ve tried. There’s a food truck and I think one built into a gas station. This is a brick and mortar location in Port Allen. This is some good BBQ. As connoisseurs know, BBQ ain’t cheap. 2, big eater type, people will be sassyfied on $ 30. I know b/c Rob bought me lunch the other day and his bill was $ 30. I paid this week and my bill was $ 34. So there’s that. We both got the 2 meat plate, which also comes with 2 sides and toast, then made a drink and waited for them to call #44. And awaaaaaay we go: Baby back ribs: wonderful texture. Tender but maintains its form while you chew. Doesn’t turn into paste, which is great. Not a ton of flavor though. Expect to use some of their bbq sauce or expect to just savor a little smoke with a little spice.(I did both) Spare Ribs: So much meat! Wow. Meaty, delicious, tender. Same flavor profile as baby backs, but tons o meat. Brisket(moist. Also comes in «lean» variety): Not bad, not amazing. It wasn’t as moist at the end of the meal as it was at the beginning. Flavor=not a lot.(This is a trend here. Don’t expect to get punched in the mouth with spice) Chicken: I didn’t have it but Rob said it needed more smokeyness. It was ultra-tender and the bones pulled right out. Mac and Cheese: Run of the mill Fried okra: Couldn’t have been fresh, but I still love fried okra. Fried green beans: Wow. I loved them. Never had before. Will have again. Potato Casserole: Pretty good mix of cheese, potato, brisket, salt and pepper. BBQ sauce: Smokey, Sweet, Hot. We agreed that Sweet was our choice. Overall, we gave high rankings to Cou-Yon’s ribs. On par with TJ, much much better than Smokin’ Aces(but then again, everyone is better than Smokin’ Aces).

I decided to update my review for this spot just because I feel like it has to be noted how much they really care about their customers’ opinions, as well as the quality of the product they are putting out. Not much has actually changed, review-wise, since my last review: Cou-Yon’s is still a great place for BBQ. I would still recommend them to anyone in the area … even outside of the area! This is a place worth trying. Today for lunch I had a stuffed potato with chopped beef and it was incredible! Their potatoes are humongous and could satisfy one really hungry LSU offensive lineman, or two regular people with strong appetites. And they’re delicious, especially topped with the right meat. The moist brisket is still my favorite item on the menu. The pulled pork is great. The potatoes are awesome. I have been to Cou-Yon’s on numerous occasions and have never been dissatisfied. In my last review I mentioned the fact that I thought the sausage was lacking(And here’s the reason I had to write another review and note the owner’s desire to fulfill greatness). The owner recognized me and brought me samples of sausage. He said that he had read my review and thought about it often, wanting to know what it was that made the sausage less-than-great to me. I tasted the sausage and it was better than I remember, but it still isn’t my favorite on the menu. I can’t put my finger on it, but there’s something about the texture that simply makes me say, «nah, I won’t get the sausage today because there are so many better options.» Needless to say, I love this place. The menu is great, the employees and owners are phenomenal, the atmosphere is nice(note: it’s a great lunch spot or very informal dinner spot — not a dress up dinner type place). I’m a fan. And I will continue to eat at this establishment simply because I feel like if the owners and the employees genuinely care about the food and the customers [like they do], the food will continue to be great.
