Gastro Pub is the only restaurant that I will wait in line with my kids to eat at. That’s saying alot from a mother or 3. Everything about this place is spot on! Fantastic food, great vibe and delicious beer!

Small but cozy pub/restaurant in Port Angeles. There is a standing room only bar area and big screens to watch the sports game du jour. But the food. To. Die. For. Order the Mrs. Newton burger. Painted Hills beef, slices of ooey gooey brie cheese, bacon, arugula, and the most surprisingly part — fig jam. I’m not a huge fig person — brings back memories of fig newtons as a kid because they were the«healthy» cookie option because my mother refused to buy the striped fudge cookies. The fig jam I could eat by the spoonful. Any little bits of jam that managed to fall out of the burger and onto the plate or table were rescued. Just too good to let go to waste. The sweetness of the jam and perfect peppery complement of the arugula cut through the richness of the cheese, beef and bacon. Service was fine, it was a busy night but I got seated pretty quickly and had excellent recommendations for beer from my server. Going back for more… maybe I will try something else… or not.

Great food and brews. The beer selection was a good selection of craft brews from around the area. We tried the BYO fries with garlic parmesan and bacon which was a surprisingly large portion and tasted great. The food came in pretty good time considering the amount of people that were present during lunch. My chips were a little burned and my fiancé’s salad was bland but overall is give food 4⁄5. So why 4 not 5? Partly because the food was really good but not great and mostly because we went at a busy time which yielded spotty service. I’d HIGHLY recommend this establishment but try to avoid busy times(which I don’t know exist because they have a very good rep)

Great food, great beer list, great crowd. Was a perfect cap to a weekend out in the peninsula and the last place we stopped before heading back home. This is one of those places you remember and come back to each time you are in that part of the state. Prices were good and less than you’ll pay in a downtown Seattle GP, but with equal quality of service and food.

Really great food in a great atmosphere in Port Angeles, a beautiful seaside town. We love finding cider on tap most visits, wonderful chips, and a unique pub menu. We love the burgers and salads, the balsamic dressing is awesome, but blue cheese and bacon on the fries is tops.

Take Out Experience: food was done on time but a bit pricey. Basic burger and garlic parmesan fries was $ 15. Staff was nice with the short interaction. Food was delicious. Burger was just right and not dry, quality vegetables and bun & sauce was something different than standard places and really brought flavor to the meal. The parmesan cheese made the fries stand out from other garlic fries. Would not spend that much on every burger I am get but worth the treat.

Food– it was pretty good, I got the fish tacos and they put way to much cabbage in the tacos. Not really a lot of fish and not alot of flavor. I’ve had great fish tacos and it wasn’t there. Service– it was decent they were kinda busy but not like they normally are I had to ask twice for a refill on water. Over all I didn’t like what i had to pay the the food and the service

Excellent selection of beers and some great food. The stout on tap was good. We ordered fish(battered) tacos, chicken tacos, not just average Joe burger and Yam fries. The burger was juicy with thick bacon and onion rings, the tacos were good although the fish taco was slightly under flavored. The atmosphere was pleasant, the servers were polite. The wait time was a hassle but worth it. Definitely recommended.

Gastropub seems to be the place to be in PA, even on a rainy cool Wednesday evening in December it was packed and stayed that way. Not as if this is the only option in a small town, but it draws the crowds for a good reason. Had the fish tacos, really outstanding, excellent flavors and options to buy as many as your appetite demands. Excellent service, wait staff was very attentive and informative but not pushy even when our meal was finished and people were waiting for tables. This place was worth the short wait for a table and will be on my radar when I pass through next time.

Finally! Our glorious return to Port Angeles has brought us back to NextDoor! After a windswept beach hike on Dungeness Spit, we made it our goal, nay our MISSION to return and try some food at this awesome spot in downtown. Service was a little slow a first, but it was busy, so I can’t complain. Our bartender was perfectly chatty once everyone was settled in. We both ordered a beer from their awesome rotating selection and were pleased with our choices(A Lemony-Ginger Cider for me and a Harvest Amber for him). El Husband-o ordered the special of the evening(a French dip) and if my Brie and fig grilled cheese hadn’t been so damn tasty I would’ve been extremely jealous. I will cop to dipping my garlic Parmesan French fries in his au jus…

Great burgers and appetizers. Cool atmosphere and amazing rotating tap selection. Humus is great and cheese garlic fries are killer. Amazing Mac n cheese. A must! I had the Mrs Newton — ½ lb burger, arugula, fig spread, mustard and Brie cheese. I would definitely recommend it.

I’m giving this a higher rating because it’s one of the few so far we’ve had in the area with better tasting food. The place is very small and cramped, but the food is decent. The desserts are usually limited but ok. Update: I see mgmt has replied to me… I’ve only been there twice, it struck me as somewhat pricey when I was there this summer but being that we’ve tried more restaurants in the area we realize it’s apparently difficult to find decent ones so I’ll take that; As far as the actual food, what I had was tasty… one idea would be to introduce some new things every so often to keep things interesting.

This place was rated #2 places to eat in Tripadvisor back in July of 2015. WRONG! This place should have been rated #1. I went to the #1 rated restaurant in Port Angeles and I can tell you, that as an Asian and someone who grew up on the foodstuffs of Asia(Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Thai) the restaurant rated #1 in PA is way-off…and I won’t name names. Parking was a pain in the buttocks as it was street parking and there were signs with all kinds of stipulations that made you read and re-read when and if you’d be towed. We opted for seating outside, thinking it would be nice in the middle of July but it was freezing cold and the only saving grace was a heater directly above the patio that a patron had turned on by standing on his chair. The tables and chairs(stools) were separated from the sidewalk with a few mere inches of brick and mortar. My first experience with Kestrel Chardonnay was at this restaurant. I’d ordered a glass($ 9), not expecting much but it was a revelation of sorts that caused me to hunt high and low in the state of Washington for this amazing wine! I could only have one glass as I was driving and swore that if I came back here I’d have someone else drive! The Crab Cake sandwich($ 20) was rich, creamy, fat and decadent. It was so doggone amazingly fat and rich that I felt like I was eating a crab cheesecake of sorts! The fries were yummy too. Fat, fat, fat… delicious fat! Diet be damned! The kid ordered mini burger sliders, which was the least of the deal here, for two teeny tiny burgers at $ 8.00 plus more for the fries(I forget). We had to send it back to the kitchen because it was pretty raw inside and he lost his appetite when it came back cooked to his liking(well done). Next time your kid wants to eat something, order the adult-size, then take home what your kid can’t eat and you can have lunch the next day. Make sure you tell them«well done» too, if ordering for the kid(s). We ended up throwing the sliders away two days later. Not appetizing enough for the kiddo, apparently. So despite the crappy parking, the freezing in the middle of July(we are out of town and we know it) and the expensive kid’s «meal» which he didn’t eat, why did I give this place a 5-star? It’s because I had a gastronomical blast and anyplace I vow to return to whole-heartedly with a resounding YES gets a Five! I’d definitely come back here when I return to Port Townsend! Service — outstanding. Wine — outstanding. Food — good. Parking — problematic, but that shouldn’t stop you if you want the gastropub experience! Price — great!(I live in Honolulu, so the prices were pretty decent here) Ambiance — good. Return factor — hell yeah!

My family and I attended the crab fest and needed a place to watch the game on Sunday morning before leaving town. We came here for a delicious breakfast and major Seahawk fans! The service was a little slow but they were really busy in there. We had everything from there are only to their Poutine. Everything was delicious except for the poutine, I would never get that again there. This place is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night action! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here.

Found this place based on Unilocal reviews. We were not disappointed. Came here from camping in the Olympics. The fries were excellent. Had some burgers and they were excellent. Very juicy and big. The fries were better than the chips. We ended with the dessert truffles. They were very tasty. The price was excellent and beer selection was excellent according to the beer drinkers at the table. It gets busy but we got here at a pretty good time and was seated right away. Service was quick and efficient.

In Port Angeles for short vacation. I found this place on Unilocal. We waited about 15 mins for a table. The place is ‘happening’, there are about 8 beers on tap that rotate. The food is good too. But…(why 3 stars vs 4) 1. Service is slow. There were 3 waiters on a full night and did not get good attentiveness. They were busy tending to all the tables. 2. Value. Beers and food are on expensive side. This is more like a $$$ place than $$. We had the burger with guacamole, cob salad, fries, and a kids mac & cheese. Kids mac and cheese was particularly good.

We came around 1pm on July 4th and the place was packed. Luckily, there were two bar seats left so we opted to sit there. The first thing we noticed was the selection of beers they had on tap on the wall. The spire, dark and dry cider, is one of our favorite ciders and we were elated they offered it here. Coming from California, we’ve only had it bottled so tasting it on tap was much more refreshing. After scanning through their menu for awhile, I opted for the Mrs. Newton burger with yam fries since it was a highlight on Unilocal. The burger comes with bacon, brie, and fig jam. The jam had a very distinctive taste that I could taste in every bite. The burger was decently large and I felt satisfied when I was done. The fries came with a side of curry ketchup, a slightly spiced and not sweet ketchup. I thought the service here was pretty good since we sat at the bar and the atmosphere was very lively, probably because it was independence day.

I wish this place had come up in my search the previous day… We spent the night in Port Angeles so we could visit Olympic National Park before taking the ferry to Victoria. Dinner was odd the first night – that’s all I am going to say. We had a great day hiking in the park until late afternoon. We were hungry, but we were short on time so we decided to wait until after the ferry ride to Victoria to eat. After arriving the required 90 minutes prior to our 5:50 sailing, we were told that we did not have to stay with the car and could return 30 minutes prior to departure. I tried Unilocal again. Next Door Gastropub was only two blocks away. What a great local spot for food and beer. I was parched so I ordered an iced tea. Our server brought the tea along with an extra cup of ice… nice touch. J had a local brew. I ordered the Apple Chicken Salad and J had the Black and Blue Burger. The food was good. The service was good. It was surprisingly good for a pub. This is the place to eat when in Port Angeles

After a long day in Victoria, BC it was decided we would eat before driving back to Poulsbo. Having experienced a Gastric Nightmare the last time we were out of town and did not check the Unilocal reviews; we decide to Unilocal a place to eat. Our first selection appeared to be closed so we moved to our second choice. We were greeted with the news we would have to wait 30 minutes before a table would be ready. We asked for a booth(sight unseen) and took our place wandering around outside. Did I mention the weather was great! So it was our turn and we ran into a snag. My one year old Grandson could not be accommodated in the booth. Not wanting to go somewhere else, we asked the server if she would mind asking the gentlemen who had just been seated at a table if we could trade. When the conversation did not appear to be going well, my daughter and I went over to explain. In short they happily agreed after I bought them a round of drinks! Thanks guys!!! The Next Door Gastropub appears to be a favorite with the locals. They have a full bar, indoor and patio seating and a great atmosphere. I ordered the Crab Cake Sandwich: dungeness crab cake, dubliner, caramelized onions, organic mixed greens, tomato, ancho aioli, pane d’amore pub bun and opted for the Sweet Potato Fries which brought it all together. The sandwich was just AWESOME !!! This was a CRAB Cake… Very little filler. The rest of the crew devoured theirs with rave reviews… Burgers, Fish Tacos and a Caesar Salad. Now for the bad news… Although our waitress kept tabs on us, ensuring we had full glasses… the wait was almost an hour from the time we ordered till the food arrived. My Bride got a look at the kitchen and she thought it a bit small for the number of folks dining. These guys are knocking out of the park and I really wanted to give them five stars BUT, the wait was much too long.
