Slice of Chicago

Wish I could give this as high of a rating as others have. However, I’ve been trying to reach them for the past 45 min and their answering machine picks up every time I call. It is 7pm on Friday Nov 13^th. I’d like to order for delivery, but unfortunately can’t because they aren’t answering.

Placed order at 805pm. Was told to expect 40 – 50 minutes for delivery. Pizza arrived hot at 840pm. Delivery man was nice and friendly. Pizza was exactly as ordered and was one of best I have eaten. Great Pizza Resturant!

The deep dish pizza pie is wonderful! So good we went there twice in three days.

Great Chicago style deep dish pizza and service. We arrived late, but the owner welcomed us and was super friendly. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic Chicago style pizza. Best I’ve found so far in Texas. It’s even better than some of the pizza I’ve had in Chicago.

The pizza was delicious. Perfect after a day of fun in the sun. However the waitress was rude and seemed like she didn’t want to help us.

Pizza was really good! Super generous with cheese and toppings. Only down side (the reason we didn’t give it five stars) was the price. I don’t mind paying higher prices on the island, but it was a little out of control. Overall though, I’d recommend!

Staying a couple of days in Port Aransas with my wife and we were pretty beat after touring the island all day and decided to order in. Have to say this pizza was incredibly flavorful. I wanted Italian sausage and pepperoni while she wanted mushrooms and olives. So we did a half and half 12 inch thin pie.
The crust was cooked perfectly and the ratio of toppings was spot on. At other places I usually have to order extra cheese but this wasn’t the case here.
We also ordered the buffalo wings which were tasty as well. The meal was delivered quickly with a smile. The driver was pleasant and friendly.
My wife and I are planning on having lunch there tomorrow to try their lasagna.

The deep dish supreme pizza was great, toppings were fresh and the crust was cooked perfectly all the way through. The box had to weigh 8 lbs with the full pizza in it. The hours were a little confusing, but we waited until they were open and ordered the beast.

I try to find the positive in small local restaurants and I don’t mind paying the prices for good food. But this was a real disappointment.
We played the safe card and ordered thin crust cheese pizza and a pepperoni pizza as theses are the basis for a good pizza.
My positive would be the toppings were generous. However, the pizza was soggy, probably due to heavy sauce that tasted store bought. Totally, not what I expected from reading the previous reviews.
We were also disappointed that the «ranch» we ordered for the kids dipping sauce came from a bottle. We actually saw them pouring it in the dipping containers. :(

Good food and great service. I got the thin crust pizza and it was extremely tasty. The staff was very helpful and had plenty of suggestions for me since it was my first time. Will definitely go back next time I am in town.

Fantastic pizza and good service! The food is overpriced but this is a rare example of when it’s worth the extra cash.

You don’t expect to find Chicago style deep dish in Port Aransas, TX, but after several days of seafood you feel like something different. In a lonely little shopping mall before you set to the main part of town you will find it on the right side before CVS. Ron was manning the register he is the owner and holding down the fort after a busy lunch, I liked dining after the lunch hour you will find it much quieter, unless like the Black Marlin and you don’t need business you just turn us away. The pizza a deep dish takes a little time and so we tried the garlic Parmesan chicken wings, the crust was good it was billed as large drummette size not even close, but they were yummy. Then the deep dish arrived steaming we did half meat with sausage, pepperoni and Canadian bacon and half with mushrooms and all with roasted garlic.
WOW, it was steaming hot, perfectly cooked and delicious to the last bite. The owner is from Texas and his girl friend from Chicago she has taught him well, when in Port Aransas try the pizza !!

Deb and I came down to the Island in Corpus for a long Easter week. The grand kids came to visit and wanted pizza. I had heard from several people that the «Slice of Chicago» in «Port A». was outstanding!
We were not disappointed!!! We ordered a 12″ Supreme 8 topping pie and it was out of this world. We have spent a lot of time in Chicago over the past 20 years. I can tell you this pizza was as good if not better then the deep dish we had at the best places in Chicago. They told me the sauce is from a 100 year old family recipe, and everything is made fresh daily including the dough.
I had a couple of ice cold beers, Deb had a glass of wine. Their new dining room was very attractive, comfortable. We were happily stuffed but we all split a couple of pieces of their «Key Lime» pie and it was terrific!
Before we left because the pizza was so good, the grand kids wanted us to order the Lasagna «to go» for dinner at the condo the next day. It too was as good as it gets!
We will go back again this coming week for sure!

My boyfriend and I showed up after they closed (unaware) because the open light was still on. We are both in the restaurant industry and know how frustrating it can be to serve/​cook after hours. That being said, they were still very friendly and considerate. We ordered an 8 in deep dish. The pizza was so amazing, the sauce flavorful and the ingredients fresh! My family is from Chicago, so I am fairly picky about it. However, this is the best deep dish I’ve had outside of Chicago. Thank you for the great meal and service. I will have to take my family here when I visit port A again.

Excellent crust on the deep dish. Good sauce on both and we left not a single crumb. Super nice folks and classic 80’s rock playing on the radio.

We showed up at 10:10pm not realizing they closed at 10. There were a few people still in the dinning room eating and I could tell just by the look on the guys face he really wanted to turn us away but decided to serve us anyway. Let me say as a small business owner myself I know what it’s like to be at the end of a long day have to put on the happy face and go the extra mile to take care of a customer, and the employees certainly did on this night. We keep our motorhome on the island for the spring and summer and stay there as much as our business will allow us to be away and we will definitely be back often.
We’ll be back because not only was the service top notch the Pizza was FANTASTIC! Tons of cheese on thin crust that was crispy and delicious. For sure the best pizza on the island (even better than Stingray’s or Port A Brewing Co). Absolutely a great way to end a long hot day on the beach!!!

They now have indoor seating, full service with fountain drinks. The service itself was a bit spotty with one guy scrambling to take orders and keep drinks filled but they’d only been reopened for a week when I was there, I’m sure they’ll have things running smoothly in no time! Pizza is still great and while there were three of us eating this time, we still couldn’t finish the 12″!

I currently relocated here from Chicago so I would like say I know a thing or two about Chicago style pizza and what it tastes like.
Slice of Pizza comes pretty close and I will definatly will be coming back. The only thing I would say this deep dish pizza is missing us the cornmeal in the pizza dough, cornmeal is the key ingredient to a Chicago Style Pizza dough.
Giving the location I now live in I will say this is about as Chicago as its going to get for me. I am really happy there is a little taste of my hometown here. :-)
