Food is okay — a bit pricey for the atmosphere. Also we ordered a kids meal for our toddler and the meal came with potato chips for $ 5, so basically we paid five bucks for a very dry grilled cheese sandwich and a $.50 bag of Lays potato chips. They had no other side dish items available with kids meals other than french fries which they wanted an additional $ 2.75 for! That’s a little bit nuts in my opinion. On the adult burger meal it was only $ 1.50 to upgrade to fries instead of potato chips. I pointed this out and the waitress looked legitimately embarrassed and just said I know but there’s nothing I can do about it. I got the fish and gulf shrimp. On the plus side, The seafood wasn’t frozen and the batter was flavorful. The shrimp were very small though and the fish was cut thick and very fatty. I think the price was around $ 15. Margarita wasnt great– I couldnt finish it. Bartender/waitress was very nice and checked on us often.

Local bar with divey atmosphere. Live music on patio, relaxed casual family ambiance. Food was your typical bar food, decent but nothing to die for. We ordered hot wings, half of which were still frozen/uncooked in the middle. Friendly service. Smoking permitted indoors.

This is the worst dining experience I have ever had, the OWNER told our waitress I was wrong about the food tasting bad right in front of me she also didn’t refund our $ 7 we spent on cheese sticks how is it even possible to screw up chese sticks? It’s literally the easiest thing to make? The owner then proceeded to argue with me about the food tasting like it was fried in old grease rather than coming up with a solution. I will never eat at this dive again.

Waitress told us to find a table outside after 25 min of not getting service I found her and she said she was the only waitress and was packed that we would have to go to the bar where there was no space, the restaurant is huge it was a Saturday I asked her if we should just leave and she did not answer, I have no idea how the food is just if you are come with more than 4 people it will be hard to get service at all

We both had the Chrimp burger there last night and like always it was great! Our server took great care of us. The only thing I question is their addition. Bill was $ 22 and 8.25% tax was $ 2. Are they really sending the whole $ 2 bucks into the state.

We had the most unfortunate experience here. The waitress visited our table very infrequently. We did not receive drink refills and ended up visiting the bar to order more drinks where the bartender(also the manager) told us she would get our waitress for us. We were a large party of 18, but we were not a demanding group and knew that being a large group would slow our service. Once our food was finally delivered, the waitress did not return until bringing out our checks. We were never brought refills, or asked how we were doing. When the checks were delivered, many of us noticed miscalculations. 15% gratuity was added, which was expected, but there were mathematic errors in the checks causing us to have to recalculate and speak to the manager on a few checks. My check in particular was correct, however it was not itemized clearly and led me to believe I had been over charged. When I asked the manager if she could check it for me, she passed the check to my waitress who proceeded to have an extremely negative attitude with me. After dealing with her dramatic typing into a calculator and eye rolling, I turned back to the manager to explain our poor service. The manager continue to defend the waitress stating that«she works her ass off» and«if she delivered drinks and food to you, that’s all she is suppose to do». My concerns were never listened to, and we left feeling extremely disregarded. In a customer service driven business it is imperative to listen to complaints(even if you do not agree with them) and above all, as a waitress it is your JOB to provide decent service. Yes I said, DECENTSERVICE. The 15% gratuity was not deserved and listening to customer complaints may help your restaurant.

This place looked pretty questionable when we walked in. It was not super clean, and there were people smoking inside. There were only two or three people waiting tables so service was very slow. They were very friendly though. The waitress suggested ways to save money on our order and was very helpful. The place got slammed right after we got there. We waited for probably 45 minutes for our food, each minute making me more worried about our choice in eating here. Once our food came, we were very happy. We had pizza, shrimp po boy, chicken fingers, chicken fried steak, all very good. This is a good option of you’re on Port Bolivar, not scared of questionable surroundings and not in a hurry!

Stopped in here afternoon of July 5th2015. Wife said«oh, great, more bar food.»(sigh) I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and a cup of chicken and sausage gumbo, she opted for a Philly cheese steak. service real good. Eats were even better! The Philly cheese steak was really tasty and tender! My chicken salad salad sandwich has to rate in my top 5 and the gumbo, while not New Orleans, was very good for the Texas Coast. I recommend a stop here if you are in the area.

We love this place! My husband and I eat here just about every time we are at the beach. All their food is made from scratch and I’ve never had anything I didn’t like! Atmosphere is fun and laid back, they do allow smoking so be prepared for that but the food is amazing! All of the staff is amazing and really make you feel at home. The owners are always there to make sure things flow smoothly and they are the nicest people! Definitely recommend, highly!!!

Hole in the wall. Surprisingly good food. Minus the horrible cigarette smoke I managed to survive with only a minor headache.

We had a late lunch there yesterday afternoon. The margaritas were excellent. We had appetizers. The shrimp kisses are great. Wings were very good as well as crab cakes. All very delicious. Our group ordered cheeseburger, grilled shrimp and the crimp burger. We were all very happy with our selections. Very friendly place.

Right after we ordered, I tried for 15 minutes to get the waitress’ attention. I wanted a baked potato instead of fries, and she served me a coke rather than unsweetened tea. My friend ordered wings, i ordered the cheese steak sandwich. When we finally got her attention, I asked about the potato, and she said we could. Food was good, service was better after the initial delay, but took a long time for a refill on tea and the waitress was not very pleasant when my friend asked for a second refill on his soda. Should be 2 ½ stars. They seem to pay more attention to people who live on the peninsula. I would certainly rather go to Stingaree.

For what it is it’s the best. Great«local» atmosphere with lots of space. Seems like great«family» space. Broccoli and cheese soup was perfect. Great friendly service by Georgia. A must stop on this sweet little peninsula after delightful ferry ride from Galveston.

Great little local bar. Fantastic desserts and a really good club sandwich… oh and btw… ice cold beer!!! Ok, it’s the next day and I have time to write a full review from the computer vs. the phone. I stand by my opening. This is a great local bar. Everyone was very friendly, staff and patrons alike. They had a raging fire going and it was perfect on a raw day. We took a table by the fireplace and ordered. Our server/bartender brought ice cold beer and brewed a fresh pot of hot coffee to mix with Kahlua. Granted it was only a club sandwich and fries, but it was a fantastic club and the fries were very good. The brownie cheesecake and the Key Lime Pie were very good. For a small town local bar, the presentation was fantastic. There was a fresh lime drizzle for the pie and a wonderful chocolate swirled over the cheesecake. They had the football game on with gameday food and drink specials. The service was great. I don’t get the bad service reviews. Maybe the different time of year with a short staff issue??? Who knows. But, It’s a small beach bar. If it’s busy, you may have to wait for table service. If you’re impatient, don’t be shy. Head to the bar and get what you need. This isn’t ever going to be Bennigan’s. So, get over it. It is what it is. And that’s why you’re there! I can’t wait to go back. This will be one of my go to places whenever I’m on Bolivar Peninsula. Try it out if you are nearby! I can’t wait to return.
