Great service and great food. So happy that we found this little restaurant on the way from Manhattan to Greenwich, it’s a gem. The sangria’s flavor is just about right, the food is also really tasty, even the free corn tortilla

Food is amazing, I always get the tacos plate. Typically Salmon and the bistec — amazing! Especially with the salsa! Absolutely no complaints about this establishment – service and food are great.

Wow. Apps, generous cocktails, dinner and service was all fantastic. Fajitas, home made chips, tasty guac, My local fave Mexican restaurant of many years has taken a significant turn for the worse-very happy to have found Salsa Picante as our new go to place. Small so make sure you make a reservation at least on the weekend. Four in our party and all of us were very satisfied.

The chips and guac were amazing to start. We also got a fish bowl of margaritas which was a good size for four people. I ordered the shrimp taco(which had a lot of shrimp in it) and the chicken quesadilla appetizer. Both were amazing, but the quesadilla was big enough for a main course after the chips and guac!

Got take out from this place — the food was delicious and the service was great. The staff even let us sit at a table while we waited and served us water and chips/salsa. We got steak/onions and shrimp burritos with mango sauce. Everything was so delish!

This place is a hidden gem. Not many Mexican places that go above & beyond. Don’t get me wrong, there are some awesome places in the area such as Tequilla Sunrise in Larchmont or Tequila Mocking Bird in New Cannen but nothing compares to Salsa Picante. Parking situation is super easy — the only problem with this place is there’s not a ton of tables so make your reservations.

We went here for Mother’s Day and we loaded up. Margaritas check, nachos check, tacos check, and my fav chile relleno. Everything was delish. My brother in law was taken back by the thicker tortillas, but I liked the change from the traditional thin flavorless corn tortillas. We will be back for sure.

I love their Tortas and that’s really all I’ve ever eaten from there but it’s definitely one of the best things i’ve ever eaten.

This place has some seriously good high quality chile rellenos. I hope I can get the recipe as I live far away so I can imitate this tasty version.

We showed up without reservations on a busy night, on our way to a concert in town, after being turned away at a couple of other places. When the manager discovered we needed to be out by a certain time, he graciously shoehorned us in. My house made(extra cost) Margarita was excellent. My companions«regular» Margarita, made with a mix instead of fresh juice, frankly was bad. Go for the extra bucks! I honestly cant remember what she got, but it was pretty darned good. I got one of the hangar steak plates and it was amazing… far, far, far beyond expectations. Based on the cost, I truly didn’t expect more than a «meh» meal. I ordered medium rare, and it’s a thin cut. Though it didn’t come out exactly medium rare, the darned steak was moist, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. Have I already said this far, far, far, exceeded expectations? Side dishes were good, and an appetizer of guacamole was obviously freshly made and quite good. The place was slammed and waitstaff was cheerful, hurried, not necessarily focused on customer service as much as quick service. That’s not a complaint, but an observation that they handled a full house quite well. It’s a keeper.

Had dinner here one evening based on all of the good Unilocal reviews. I ordered the Queso Fundido, a side of Guacamole, and the Nachos with Chorizo sausage. I was served a basket of chips and what I assume is their House salsa. The chips were much thicker than I am accustomed to. Some were good, other tasted stale, and a number of them were inedible. They were stuck together and the texture when one put them in one’s mouth was so chewy as to be unpleasant. The Queso Fundido was bland and very greasy. I ate some of it, but due to the amount of grease, I abandoned it. I asked for some hot sauce, and received three soufflé cups of three different sauces — one green, two red. The green sauce was rather bland to my palate, but the two reds were outstanding. Both were tasty, hot, and smoky! I completely destroyed the two reds and would have licked the serving cups clean if I thought I could have gotten away with it! The Guacamole was decent enough. Served in a large Granite looking Molcajete bowl. It could have used some seasoning though. I added some of one of the red sauces into the guacamole to give it some additional flavor. The Nachos were also to greasy — due to the Chorizo sausage. I’d come back here again, but perhaps order something else — with either steak or chicken instead. Service was very good.

I found Salsa Picante to be an overall solid, if not exceptional experience. Okay service, okay food and good margaritas made with fresh lime juice(not really a margarita otherwise). We had the guacamole to start which was really good, but the entrees left more to be desired. I had a couple tacos(chorizo, steak and tongue) which were fine, but didn’t make me say wow. My sister got a salad(wouldn’t have been my first choice at a Mexican restaurant but…) and my girlfriend also had some tacos. They expressed the same sentiment: good — not great. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back, but also wouldn’t steer anyone away.

Salsa Picante has been on my list to try for a few months now. We finally got the chance when my brother in law was in town and craving Mexican food. Salsa Picante is a quaint restaurant that is mostly candle lit by night(que the romantic atmosphere). You can see the open kitchen from the dining area and everything is kept immaculately clean. The waiters and waitresses were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I am a vegetarian and the menu had a solid variety of options to choose from including vegetable enchiladas with an amazing green sauce, tacos and burritos. The food was cooked well and spiced nicely. The flavors really did take me back to the months I lived in Mexico during college. Everyone at our table was throughly impressed by the food. The sauces that they made for the enchiladas and burritos were simply amazing. We went during dinner time and the prices to me were very reasonable considering the portions were large and all plates come with beans and rice on the side. If you aren’t incredibly hungry the plates are really large enough to share between two people. PROTIP: Try the passion fruit margarita, it was quite literally the best margarita I have EVER had. We will definitely be back!

Tortilla soup very good. Enchiladas good as well. Good lunch with a Corona. Nice spot. Stands up to its rating. Manager is very friendly. I Like atmosphere. Ola. I’ll have to stop in on way back home as well. I agree with Benjamin as well on all points.

Decided to give this spot a try given all the rave reviews… Over Bar Taco where I’ve been many times. Tried out a few tacos… Good portion size and tasted okay… Just nothing spectacular. We also got the juices, were told they are fresh… Realize it’s not… From concentrate I take it… Maybe it’s a off day… I’m willing to give it benefit of the doubt…

First of all, we selected this location because we were looking for a Mexican Restaurant in this area since we wanted to do an outing here. At first the store front was unassuming, we figured this was the place and were both pleasantly surprised to see how warm and inviting this place really is. We were quickly greeted and made to feel welcomed as we were taken to our seats. The staff was courteous and prompt at returning our orders. The food we chose was delicious and the amounts we received were more than I expected as I had a lot of leftovers to take home. I’ve given them 5 stars because the service was good although the salsa was not that Picante and the coffee wasn’t as good as I’d hoped for, but who goes to a Mexican Restaurant for coffee anyway? This is an awesome place to take a date to, a friend or family too… Buen Provecho my friends.

Great Mexican restaurant in Port Chester! Came through on a visit on Christmas Day and they were one of the only places open in the whole village! Great food, great portions, delicious sangria, and perfect appetizers that served as brunch! 5*!

Really good! Their 2 for one happy hour is awesome. Chips and salsa-watery salsa(not my preference) but they are free. Their tortas are excellent! The bread is perfectly toasted and the ingredients are high quality. Its like a fine dining version compared to the greasy, oily taco truck tortas I’m used to. I also like their tostadas– they pile on the ingredients, almost too pretty to eat. I usually get them with chicken or steak. They lack flavor(there’s an abundance of lettuce) and have to pile on hot sauce, but I enjoy them. Beans/rice– just okay, again lack flavor but still fine. Elotes– eehhh misses the mark. The corn was mushy and couldnt get past that texture. Maybe it was a fluke. Service is not perfect but they are all really friendly. Overall, for a sit down mexican meal, will go back!
