I paid $ 10 for a bag of chips. I didn’t mean to, of course. We happened upon Tarry Market one day during the ling haul from Long Island to Rhode Island. We were in bumper-to-bumper traffic, and desperately needed to pull over. The nearest exit was for this little village, and the nearest bathroom was in Tarry Market. While we were there, we decided to get lunch; a few sandwiches, some fizzy drinks and a bag of chips. It wasn’t until we were paying that my husband realized the $ 10 chips. I blame the Himalayan Sea Salt. The sandwiches were fine, if a little bland. I had the pest chicken panini and my husband has the caprese. I guess I expected a bit more from the Batali/Bastianich combo… saltier cheese, perhaps? The market itself is gorgeous and the people who work there are incredibly friendly. Everything from the produce to the meat to the canned goods is screaming with good taste, and the prices reflect that. You can come to Tarry Market and get your goods for dinner along with a cappuccino, a nice pastry and a sandwich to go. Pretty nice. I’m just not in love with it because it’s a tad ridiculous and over-priced. I just can’t get over the $ 10 chips, I guess.

This place serve not so fresh food at Batali prices. Super pricey, not quality, nice help though, the hand sanitizing dispenser is a nice touch. but the Batali name is no excuse for the shoddy old pastry served in the morning when you are expecting fresh croissant and a decent coffee. If you are going got pay those prices go next door.

Upscale Italian market in Port Chester… On my way to work and wanted to try something really good… Tarry Market is well put together. Their edibles seem fresh as well as their other items. They also stock up on refreshments. The Market is super fresh. As soon as you go in, all you smell is butter(that’s fine by me). It has enough seating area, to lounge and grab a quick nosh. I like the partially rustic feel at the Tarry Market i.e., the floors. I must admit, prices are a tad excessive. Yet, overall, acceptable.

This is a great spot if you have little kids. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They will do tiny espresso shot sized cups of milk. In the back they have a small selection of kids lunch options. Delicious pastries. Delicious coffee. And if you sit up by the windows in front you can watch the cars and trains pass by. The whole family enjoys going to Tarry Market.

A very pricey gourmet market in a working class town is Tarry Market in a nutshell. Granted, it is a short drive from some very affluent communities. This market is part of the Batali & Bastianich family of businesses, so an effort for high quality products comes with little surprise. They have a great selection of meats and cheeses that are great to serve at parties and special occasions, which has primarily been the purpose of my visits here. It is not logical however for the majority of people to any type of regular or semi-regular grocery shopping here. Although it would be ice to do so, the prices at Tarry Market are simply prohibitively expensive. It is truly a spot for an occasional splurge on some unique, tasty grub.

This place is great! So glad they open the café side at 7:30 I think I found my new morning coffee spot! Their coffee is way better than the others in the neighborhood. Will need to make a return trip later in the day to check out some of their imported cheeses and other fine foods when I’m not in a rush to get to work.

Italian Dean & Deluca. Hey, not everyone knows where to go to get the same thing for less in the Bronx w/o all the fancy display marketing. But, despite that I like it anyway. Of course I could do w/o the people who shop here but hey… Ultra fresh produce, unique regional Italian specialties like pistachio Nutella. Fresh meats, cheese, pasta, porcini, truffles, fruit, spreads, vinegars, olive oils, olives, etc. After you meander a bit grab an authentic rich cappuccino & charcuterie & sit by the window. Although it was around closing time on a Sunday afternoon, the staff was curt and we were told more than once they were closing. I found it rude.

Some breads are not fresh… I visited this store on 12th afternoon to get brioche. On the package it printed ‘packed 7th March, displayed till 14th’! It’s not fresh, I didn’t feel buying it so just got their homemade cookies. I think you’d better buy breads at Kneaded bread which located just opposite side. They bake their breads every day and sell them all within a day.

This place is very cool — combo upscale Italian grocery market /coffees and dessert place /lunch– deli spot. Real Italian products and most all home made. One of my favorites.

Tarry Market offers a great selection of Italian products as well as fresh produce, meats, prepared foods, and a great deli. The meatball panini — more like a sub — is delicious. The freshly baked breads serve the Tarry Lodge restaurants in Port Chester, Westport, and New Haven!

The market is located in a little town in upstate New York. It quite adorable. The place is decorated beautifully in Batali and Co. Charm. The Tarry Market is a smaller take on Eataly. They have street parking and if i lived here this is the place i would go on a daily for my gourmet food shopping or a place for lunch. I absolutely need one of these on Staten island. Its beautiful inside, set up into small sections from great pastries to fresh macaroni, butchers, veggies, fresh fish. You name it they have it. They also have a variety of wine and a wine bar next store. If your around this area or passing thru def stop in.

Random stop on the way back to NYC… And wow what a treat. Had the prime rib sandwich and porchetta sandwich. Blown away, especially the prime rib sandwich. Also tried the olive oil gelato… it was great. Took home some artisnal focaccia too, and that was also good.

Disappointing selection. a way smaller version of price-gouging tourist trap Eataly. At least Eataly has an interesting array of product that is nice to look at(until you look at the price tag).

Stopped in after a heavy lunch for some desperately needed caffeine… Had passed by this place many times before, but despite knowing it was a Batali joint, hadn’t had the opportunity to check it out. The place is very Eataly-like, but on a much smaller scale of course… The décor, layout, and selection are enough to make you feel like you’re shopping in an NYC market instead of Port Chester. Did a quick walk around the store, marveled at the aging prime steaks, and drooled at the sight of all the fresh pasta, but ultimately made my way back to the front of the market where the barista was waiting with a smile. The café menu carries what you’d expect from a high-end coffee shop; Espresso, Cappuccino, Mocha, etc. along with a decent selection of pastries and sugary goods… I appreciated the fact they served Lavazza exclusively for their espresso drinks, in an effort to keep with the Italian theme of the place. Went with the Mocha, which was reasonably priced, especially considering I had spent roughly the same amount on a Mocha earlier that day, at a certain Seattle-based coffee chain that will remain nameless. The barista took the correct amount of time with the espresso process and wasn’t just hitting some button that spewed out burnt espresso, unlike a certain Seattle-based coffee chain that will continue to remain nameless. The end result of all this foreplay was a perfect temperature, semi-sweet, and not-burnt Mocha espresso which was just what I needed after the meal I’d just had… Mission accomplished. Side note: Grab one of their chocolate chip cookies… I took one down with my Mocha and I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s probably one of the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had. Will definitely be coming back to sample more of the eats and do some grocery shopping; there’s a bone-in ribeye at the butcher station that has my name on it.

Bottom line… Food = awesome. Service = not so great. I shop here routinely, and by now I sort of know how to navigate the place. There is never a competent manager around. Trying asking a question at Eataly like, what Olive Oil is best and 3 people jump out of no where and give critical feedback along with a taste test. At Tarry Market you get blank stares. Don’t ask what type of sauce would go well with the short rib raviolis for instance, they simple have no idea. They used to have a very competent girl in the cheese area that I would go to with all kinds of questions, and she was great, but she isn’t there anymore. The butchers products are phenomenal, but again, it feels like they’re doing you a favor and I don’t get the feeling they have the type of passion about food that other Batali/Bastianich establishment representatives have. What would be nice? A full time manager that’s there — even on weekends — that literally walks around making sure everything is going well and that engages customers.

Yea, this place is expensive but it is that way for a reason. The pre prepared dishes, the food, meats etc are high quality. You won’t be able to find this at stop and shop so you can’t expect stop and shop prices. Things that I come back for on a regular basis are the coffee and espresso, gelato(favorite flavors are corn, guiness, lemon lavender, olive oil) as well as the baked goods(the lemon poppy seed muffin is great as well as the cannoli). These items are have prices similar to other establishments. The bread is great as well, similar prices to Kneaded Bread… although I have to say I still prefer Kneaded Bread… Maybe because I’ve been shopping there longer

Crowned duke only because the lady stops here regularly for her love of their cappuccinos. I am a fan of their unique gelato flavors e.g. Guinness, corn, and most recently olive oil. They also have a nice selection of paninis, which need to be pressed else you’re missing out. People have been criticizing the high prices but I believe the quality and selection of their goods justify them.

Written by my 11 year old daughter Olivia This place is terrible. I have never been here but when I went in it smelled bad like cat pee. The kneaded bread is way better. Go there everything is amazing. TARRYMARKETISHORRIBLE!!!

Tarry Market is pleasant, well put together, and they have some really great items in stock. You can find everything from imported cheeses and butter from grass fed cows, to prepared meals and baked goods. But their prices are insane, even by typical Westchester standards. I’ve eaten at a few Batali restaurants and typically have loved the food. But in a «marketplace» type setting like this, nearly $ 30 for a pasta entrée to go and nearly $ 40 for a pound of imported salami is nuts. This leads me to ask; who exactly is this market for? Anyone who’s spent 10 minutes in Port Chester knows that, like it or not, it’s much more of a meat and potatoes town than an artisanal cuisine hub. Maybe they’re trying to change things up, and that’s fine. But I still have to wonder if they’ll be able to find a customer base to keep things moving along in the future. I have my doubts. And finally, before I forget, please stop calling cold cuts, «salumi». It’s absolutely enraging. Were not in Naples. This is America baby, and it’s cold cuts in these parts.
