A bit disappointed with the barmaid. My wife is not a beer drinker, however she indulges my enjoyment of craft beers. However when she asked if they had a full bar, the bar, aid was a bit snotty and said«we are a brewery(had waving at the brewing equipment) not a bar». They did have local wine which worked for my wife. It just felt a bit too local and that we were not welcomed there. No worries, plenty of other places to enjoy ourselves here.

First, their beers were pretty good. Had a few here and won’t go into much detail of my own tastes, but they seem to have something for everyone. I really enjoyed the Waternado, which had a wonderful coffee flavor and was very filling. They didn’t mention food on their website, and it’s really more of a tap room, but they did have some snacks and I think they had pizza on the menu. I could have been dreaming. Seating here is one of those community-style places, which I don’t really dig. That’s more my personal preference, but I like to sit with my friends, and not be right up next to strangers. The guy singing in the corner could have taken it down a notch or two on volume. When he got going, you had to yell to someone two feet away.

Love this place BUT! Been here not quite 10 times and everytime I’ve been the service is the slowest…(like Im bothering the bar manager whos been the only one there most times) to even ask what I want… Hello Im here! Im a customer! Doesn’t acknowledge your presence. LOVE! Everything they offer tho! This place is one of my favorite places to go on the wkd! Ya, aside from what I already mentioned… that’s not going to stop me from drinking their delicious brew! If you haven’t been here… you need to!!!

Awesome brewery up along the lake. Their unique beers keep changing with the seasons, and they always have a dozen or more on tap all the time. Its a real friendly out of the way place. Always head up that way with a few friends to fill up our growler’s.

Fun brewery with some unique beers. They have a nice bright tasting room and a lot of beer on draft. We just sat at the bar, but they have a lot of tables and some board games you could play.

It’s so refreshing to come to the Lake Erie area and see something other than a winery… With that said, this place is chill and welcoming. I am a HUGE fan of the atmosphere and activities made available however I am not a fan of their brews.

I love checking out microbrewers and have seen a few. This place I had high hopes for but was very disappointed. The walleye IPA was average and the rest of the rest of the beer line up was weak. The porter tasted flat like you left it in a growler for a week after opening it. Also, there was an annoying dog running around messing with people. I like dogs, but this was rude.

The atmosphere is very cool. Great for groups of friends to meet up. They have 12 beers and ciders on tap that are made in house. Beer is solid and the bartenders are friendly. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the Port Clinton area.

Yeah, I’m pretty biased when it comes to craft beer, especially craft beer that’s brewed by breweries in my home state of Ohio. That doesn’t mean that my review should be discounted, though. I do know what the hell I’m talking about. That being said, I’m so glad I finally had the chance to pay these guys a visit. It’s a bit of a roadtrip for me to get to Catawba Island from Cleveland, but if you’re looking for something to do on a weekend, I highly recommend heading out. The area’s beautiful, you’re right by the lake and it just feels world’s away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Sometimes it’s good to get away, right? This is a pretty young brewery — they’ve been open about two years or so now — but they’ve already started to can and distribute their beer within their local area. They’re also regulars are most of the large craft beer festivals in the state, so their name is really getting out there. And did I mention that they have some amazing beer? Their brewmaster, Wally, is not only an awesome, down-to-Earth guy, he also knows his way around a mash tun. He’s brewing some truly unique beers as well as nailing some of the more traditional styles like he’s been doing it since he was 5. Hell, for all I know, he has been doing it since he was 5. Anyway, this place is a showcase for those beers and it’s definitely worth a visit. The brewery is actually just to your right when you walk in to the tasting room. If you’re not familiar with the whole concept, let me break it down: 1. Brew the beer 2. Serve the beer 3. Brew more beer That’s about it. Coming to a brewery tasting room is the equivalent to sitting at the chef’s table in a restaurant. The beer is being brewed in those big, metal vessels behind the glass. It’s about as fresh as you can get without actually putting your lips around the ball valve in the bright tank. You come here to drink beer and hang out. They don’t serve food, although I think you can have pizza delivered to you from a local pizza joint and food trucks park outside on occasion, but they’ve got board games, Jenga, cornhole, big comfy couches, and pinball machines. What’s not to like? If it’s your first time, here’s what you do. You come in, walk back to the bar, greet the friendly people working behind said bar, and order a flight. Try all of their beers, even if there are some you don’t think you’ll like. Expand your damn palate for once. My favorites are the Hot Blonde mango habanero ale(think sweet and spicy with some white bread flavor) and their Seiche Scotch ale(malty and packs a punch). Unfortunately, they didn’t have an IPA of any kind on tap when I was there, but given all of the other beers, I didn’t miss it too much. So that’s it. Catawba Island is a great brewery, they brew tasty beer and now they’ve got a place where you can hang out and drink that beer. Just get there and try it. Nuff said. P.S. They’ve also got a mug club and offer growler fills.

My wife and I went here for New Year’s Eve and tried a sample — $ 8 for four generous samples of their craft beer. My favorite was the smoky Duck beer. Fantastic brewery! Great beer and great atmosphere

Catawba Island Brewing Company is only like a year old, so they have plenty of time to grow. It’s off to a good start as it is though. They have a huge variety of beers, only two of which I’ve tried — the stout and the Scottish ale. Both were note worthy and very delicious. I ended up taking a growler of the Scottish ale home with me. The bar is clean and spacious. There’s also an outdoor space with a couple of «rocking» picnic tables. It’s a shame that they aren’t serving freshly made food here, or even a greater variety of things to eat other than pizza. With that being my only gripe, I think Catawba Island Brewing Company is a solid establishment and definitely worth a visit. I’m already looking forward to a return trip so I can give my growler another fill up.

Big fan of this place! Very chill atmosphere but they know there beer! very knowledgable staff and very passionate. Unique brews and exciting that it’s the only brewery(other than the islands) in the area. will probably become a staple for our family!
