Not really sure how they are open. Waitress said they were known for their sauce and chicken parmigiana. Sauce looked like and tasted like plain tomato paste. Chicken was tough. Lettuce in the salad was very limp and not edible. A shame since it looks like it was once a nice place with a cool iron fence. Now it is run down, musty, and dirty.

We are originally from the East coast and know Pasta with sauce. Do Not miss Phils when you are in Port Clinton. We have been eating here with family and friends for many years and getting their sauce to go to bring to relatives who miss the place! The sauce has a distinctly unique flavor to it. The service is always friendly and prompt. There is ALWAYS enough food for your servings and the prices are reasonable. This has not been remodeled for quite a few years BUT we are there for the good food and service. This is Midwest Italian BUT Good! We have been there when it is crazy busy but not too long to wait.

Same as Mike S. We sat there for 5 or ten minutes just waiting for someone to acknowledge us, and when we asked a guy if he was our waiter, he made a smart ass answer making us leave immediately. It wasnt even that busy.

I love this place. The BEST spaghetti sauce ever. I buy a pint to take home every time I stop by.

Did not get to eat the foot as waiter was extremely rude. We called the manager and, instead of owning it, she kept making excuses for him saying” it’s been a hectic day as some from the kitchen did not show up”. Huh? That doesn’t give that guy(young, tall, skinny) to be so rude. Someone in our groups said it is not the first time they have experienced such rudeness from this waiter.

Being from Connecticut near the New York City area and being part Italian I know good Italian food… this is Midwest Italian food… the place is old and haven’t been remodeled in prob 50 years… but the people are friendly and service is quick… food may not be what I am use to as far as style but it’s tasty and you get a lot of it… the pork ravioli are unique…

Is everyone on here crazy? The pasta sauce here is horrible. Super thick, like tomato paste with some sugar added to it. It’s like getting spaghetti and meatballs at Perkins– you just don’t do it. Meatballs are bland and taste like dog food. Anyone with taste buds won’t like this place.

Went there for the first time since we moved here 10 years ago. I’m not sure why we didn’t try it before now. I’m not an italian fan, but I ordered Veal. The sauce was fantastic. A bit salty would be my only criticism. Server was friendly, we will be back!

It’s the kind of place that I love to love — very old-school and cozy. But I’m afraid it didn’t win me over. The service was friendly, but the food I had wasn’t very interesting. As another reviewer mentioned, the décor is way out of date… though that can be charming. The food, however, wasn’t anything special — the salad was iceberg lettuce with a cucumber and a ring of onion, and we were brought a basket of cold white bread. I got the spaghetti and lasagna combo. Spaghetti was okay — it came with a ton of hearty meat sauce. At this point, I had them at a solid 3-stars(not BAD… but not notably good, either). Then I took a bite of lasgana, and that actually was pretty darn good. So I bumped ‘em up to 3.5. But then I visited the bathroom… and notched them back down to 3 stars. So overall, not a BAD place, especially for a trip back in time 40 years. I certainly wouldn’t make a special trip for it.

The spaghetti is outstanding. It’s a great place to go for a quick and good inexpensive lunch or dinner. The quality for price is outstanding. They are closed mondays during the winter but so is everything else in the area.

Go here for the spaghetti and meatballs. I don’t know what they put in that sauce but it is seriously fantastic. The atmosphere is a little run down. Ok, so maybe it’s more than a little run down. I have been coming here since I was 2 and I don’t think they have done any updates since. You are not going for the atmosphere, you are going for the spaghetti! If they have the strawberry pie, which is seasonal, definitely order a piece for dessert. The strawberries in Ohio, the itty bitty ones, are the best in the world. They are as sweet as candy! And not to worry, dinner here will not set you back. It’s super inexpensive.

I love Phil’s…I went there all the time as a kid. My grandparents had a summer place in Marblehead so in the summer we went there all the time on the weekends. Great food… and as far as I am concerned the best Italian dressing I have ever had! Not to mention the spagetti sauce was out of this world!

I remember working there when I was a kid, stealing tips from the horrible waitress who treated me like I was less than human. Mike, the owner was a nice guy but the other guy, Mike’s former best friend, was probably my worst boss ever. I walked out of that place, leaving my apron on the back steps and walked home. I was 14 years old. Their sauce was a big secret and it was quite good. I remember the Phil’s Special — a hunk of meat smothered with provolone cheese. It was quite good too. The bartenders were always cool and I enjoyed getting drunk there after work.

Down-home Italian food right across from the Port Clinton beach. Love it. I’ve eaten here since I was a baby, and spaghetti seems to come with every meal somehow. Check out the placemats with detailed maps of the area including Catawba Island and Put-in-Bay! Of course they have fresh fish from the lake, and all portions are very hearty! If you have room left after dining here, drive a little bit further to Toft’s for specialty ice cream.
