Marie Makrides

I had a bad experience with Marie — I helped my son rent a room at a house she rents out this summer in Port Jefferson. The rent was $ 800.00 per month — We agreed to rent the room for 2 months and then possibly move him to another house she owns when he went back to school — We paid the First and Security money + an additional $ 200.00 because he needed to move in that day — Total of $ 1,800.00.
Marie sent us a very lengthy contract and application which did not mirror our agreement. I advised her that I would need to revise that contract; however, before that was completed, my son was in for less than 1 month of the 2 month rental and Lyme Disease forced him to move home and seek immediate medical attention.
I immediately advised Marie immediately that we would move him out due to this medical situation before the end of the first month which we did and completely cleaned the room.
I sent her an email requesting a refund of the Security deposit and the $ 200.00 and have yet to get that repayment — she is not returning my calls at this point.
I will not rent from Marie again and would recommend that other renters and students be vary careful with this landlord.
