Bistro Thyme

Went here when the new owners took over from Sweet D’s and wasn’t very impressed … But I went back last week and I’m so glad I did! Lunch was awesome! Great food quality and even better presentation. Definitely a place to visit for breakfast or lunch. Nice to finally see a cute restaurant/​café in downtown Port Jervis.

My husband stopped in this morning and ordered take-​out. He said that the place is cute and girl that took his order was very peppy and sweet.
Unfortunately she was not familiar with his order of a «double espresso.» She did kindly ask him more than once if he wanted any milk or cream for it. He thought it was amusing in a sweet way. The watery plain coffee he was served was not so amusing.
When he got home he dug into the clam chowder and enjoyed it quite thoroughly. I tasted it and it was OK.
The «strawberry chocolate“cupcake was what had me excited. I was quite a let down. It was a nice size, easily big enough for 2. It had a thin chocolate glaze on top that was messy to eat in this summer weather and required you eat with utensils. (Making it a slice of cake IMO) it tasted passable. which is more than can be said for the strawberry cupcake. I would bet on this coming from a box.
The place is OK but I’m not sure if eat from there again

We had visiting friends from Minnesota n were sightseeing… needed lunch n decided to try. Cute classy lil nook… exposed brick original wall… lil lamps… good service… nice variety on the menu… good prices. We all had the sandwich special… REAL turkey panini… very good though could have been hotter… I would definitely come back. They don’t do french fries if that’s something you have to have.

We have loves this place since we moved to the area (2 owners ago). We have hosted two parties here and could not have been happier with Danielle and the staff. The food is great, I suggest the chicken salad, and the service is always friendly and prompt. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Would like to give this dinner style restaurant higher marks but can’t do to the quality of the coffee and food. Been here just once on my way up riding Hawks Nest. First, coffee is really bad. Not expecting barista quality stuff but more than stale tasting watered down folgers from a can. Sorry but true. Second, I ordered oatmeal with fruit. Fruit was a couple of slices of banana, not bad in itself but the oatmeal was clearly instant oatmeal that was microwaved. It wasn’t hot all the way through. Couldn’t eat more than a third of it. My guess is if they can’t do coffee and oatmeal then good luck with anything more complicated. Plus note was that they were very pleasant. But if you like food/​coffee take your business elsewhere.

Sweet D’s is an amazing little place right in the heart of Port Jervis. The atmosphere is great, the service is wonderful and the food is always fresh! They have the most amazing vegetarian chili and the chicken salad is the best i’ve ever had. This is a great little place to pop into for breakfast or lunch or even to grab a cold drink on the go!
