We received excellent and friendly service and the food was served hot and fresh with ample portions. From the hamburgers to the shrimp to the chicken and dumplings which slid us into desserts: ding-dong(extra-large and homemade) to apple pie to buttermilk pie, everything was flavor-full! The décor was home-y and the facilities extremely clean. Thanks for a delicious lunch break!

Took my wife here for Lunch today. The atmosphere is awesome. Clean and authentic. The staff was attentive and very polite. Really good American Home-style food for a reasonable price. Will definitely be coming back.

Won’t be back. Cold frozen seafood. Poor service. I don’t think there was a competent person working tonight. I guess I should have known better when I passed the sign looking for a cook. I asked my waitress if they had fresh seafood. She did not know. This place is less than a mile from the harbor. We asked to split a piece of pie. What she brought looked like it had been dropped on the floor. When I asked her about it just just walked away. Unbelievable. Do yourself a favor. Find a Long John Silvers. Can’t be any worse and it won’t cost you $ 50.

Had the flounder. It was HUGE and delicious! Fried shrimp was large and tasty. Onion rings were homemade and were top notch. Then there’s the pies. IF you have room and I hope you do, get a piece of pie. The meringue was light and fluffy. The wait staff were all very friendly and helpful.

I stopped here because of the high reviews. Very disappointed. Had the kings chicken. It was a traditional don’t know what’s in it casserole. It was ver some cheap Walmart rolls. The salad bar and green beans were good. Otherwise waste of $ 50. Pecan pie wasn’t very good. Very disappointed. y disgusting. I couldn’t enjoy my coke. Something was wrong w the machine. Dinner rolls were like

Chocolate meringue pie was delicious, coffee was good. Service was terrible. Owner looked like she was in a bad mood. The girl serving us looked like she didn’t want to be there. Rushed to walk off every time… and there were only 3 tables with people at that moment. I’d hate to see how they are when filled. Definitely wouldn’t go back next time in Port Lavaca.

The service was great and friendly. I ordered the grilled salmon salad and the salmon was a bit overcooked but the seafood platter was good. Overall I recommend this place but I suggest you stick with what the place does best which is fried seafood.

The meatloaf was sitting in a half inch pool of grease, smelled really bad, and tasted even worse. Absolutely disgusting. And the gravy they served with their mashed potatoes was terribly bland and had a greenish-yellow hue. The fried okra was good and the service wasn’t bad. The waitress was attentive and sweet despite the fact that she didn’t get my order right and took a long time to pre bus our table and bring our check. Since it took a long time to receive our check, our kids got restless so we let them play around in the corner where no one else was sitting right near our table. The owner came over and got onto our kids with a raised voice because there was a floor lamp near by. I understand if he didn’t like it and wanted to put a stop to it, fine. But it is in much better taste to ask the parents to talk to their kids. You don’t just get onto other people’s kids. We were sitting right there and we were all paying close attention to what they were doing. It was nothing over the top and didn’t warrant his reaction. And at the end I noticed the 18% gratuity that they added to our $ 28 check, despite the fact that they served me chicken fried chicken when I ordered chicken fried steak, waited 20 minutes for our check, had our kids yelled at, and served food that no one at our table enjoyed. We will never eat here again. Gordon Ramsey needs to pay this place a visit. What a joke.

We love to find local gems when we’re on the road, and this one fit the bill. The salad bar was good and well stocked. The fried shrimp was absolutely delicious. The chicken fried chicken was scrumptious also, but the absolute icing on the cake was the homemade ding dong!!! Our server, Hayley, was friendly and helpful. If we ever find ourselves in the area again, we will go back here to eat for sure.

If you want a home cooked meal, this is the place to go. Had meat loaf, green beans and mashed potatoes and my only complaint is that I burn my tongue on the meat loaf but my fault for wanting to eat it as soon as it was in front of me. Best green beans I’ve ever had. Mashed potatoes were lumpy like I like them with gravy. I also had a side of vegetable soup and also delicious. The best part? Taking home a slice of apple pie and completing my night. Best dinner I’ve had all week(here for business all week).

Delicious home style food. My boyfriend had the chicken spaghetti which comes baked sort of casserole style and I had the chicken fried chicken. All of it was wonderful. We will definitely be back!

As a Houston native, this is my favorite restaurant when visiting PL to visit my wife’s family. Solid, consistent, homestyle diner with good service that never disappoints. It’s nothing to rant and rave about, but in a small town with limited options, this is my first choice. They have a small salad bar that you can opt for but I’m usually interested in a pork chop or steak.

We drove in from Victoria looking for some fresh seafood & we found this place on Unilocal. Not exactly what we were looking for-but they did have a fried shrimp plate(excellent batter fried, light & crispy that came w/the salad bar) for the hubby. It’s just good olé home cooking! We ordered chicken spaghetti(like tetrazzini) & King Ranch casserole. We paid an extra 2.99 for the salad bar when we ordered the King Ranch chicken, but that may have been too much seeing that the salad bar was a small selection of salad fixings. However, we’re so glad we saved room for dessert! The Jack Daniels pecan pie is to die for! We also tried the chocolate cream pie w/toasted coconut-very good! They also have a good selection of Cheesecake Factory cheesecake. We’re going to take home a whole pecan pie! Very welcoming, very friendly wait staff & super clean restrooms. We’ll come back if we’re ever in the area again.

We come in and are greeted by friendly staff. We sit down an our waiter/waitress gets our drink order quickly. We normally order there steak. Which is the best restaurant steak we have ever had. Even better than Texas Roadhouse!!! But there burgers an chicken fried chicken are also wonderful choices. The onion rings are home battered an sooo good! Try some hobo potato skins an you won’t be disappointed! Finish dinner with one of their generous slices of pie or cheesecake. We found this place by accident one day an out so glad we did it’s now our normal place to go out to eat. The only complaint I have is that it’s so good we now judge all steaks to theirs lol. Seriously go try this place you won’t be disappointed!

We were in Port Lavaca for the day and decided to stop here for lunch. We were greeted by the owner who was very nice. The interior was clean and nicely decorated. Our friendly waitress immediately took our drink orders. All of us decided to have chicken fried steak($ 10). We also added a one stop at the salad bar($ 4). We felt the salad bar add on of $ 4 was a bit too high. Either way, we were glad we did. The salad bar was good although limited. Our entrees came out in good time. The chicken fried steak was a good size, hand breaded, and tender. It was covered in a white gravy. The crust was crisp and didn’t fall off the meat when you cut it(that’s a plus). My fried okra was your typical frozen variety, but it was fried crisp which is what I like. Green beans were a nice fresh looking green and not the dull olive green you see at most places. Overall, our food was very good. We decided to get dessert. So, the four of us split a homemade ding dong and a jack daniel’s pecan pie. The ding dong consisted of two layers of round(about 4″) pieces of chocolate cake. The cake had a thick filling of cream cheese. It’s then dunked into a chocolate coating. Very rich, but very good. It was plenty for the four of us. The pecan pie was ok, but the filling was a bit too thin for me. We liked the ding dong a lot more. It’s unfortunate we live so far from Port Lavaca because Texas Traditions would be one of our favorite places to eat. The people were nice and the food was good.

This was a nice side trip for lunch. Looked it up on Unilocal thought that it sounded good try for a small town. So i decided to have the chicken salad sandwich and summer squash combo. The summer squash soup was absoultly amazing. Creamy and rich in flavors i wanted to bring a gallon of it back home with me. The Chicken Salad Sandwich was ok. Needed something maybe some celery or apples or just a little more spice. My husband had the Chicken Fried Chicken and mashed potatoes like another Unilocaler suggested and well touché it was very good and a huge plate. They also have homemade desserts. So if you are in Port Lavaca look this place up.

Found this place via Unilocal and stopped by only to find it not open until the dinner hour of 5PM. decided to bypass since it was still a half hour away. Stopped by the Lighthouse on the edge of town and a lady asked if she could take a picture for us. We asked her where the best place to eat was and she that, hands down, the best place was Texas Traditions. We back tracked and ate there. What a treat! The staff was great and were«small town» attentive. DW had the shrimp plate which was tremendous. I ordered off the menu to get the combination of seafood that I wanted and the waitress and the kitchen staff provided it just as I requested! It was prepared and presented to perfection. The surprise was the desserts! DW had the coconut cream pie with the mile-high meringue topping and, again, it was all you could ask for in quality. I may have discovered a new favorite in the Orange Shortcake! One of the best desserts I’ve ever had! Light and not overly sweet! Overall, a great dining experience! Only drawback, it is a bit pricy, but not overly so. Try it! You’ll like it. Glad we went back!
