Our service was unbearably slow. We sat down and no one noticed us for at least 10 minutes. My food was flavorless and not good. The mac and cheese was pretty much flavorless. We waited about 15 minutes for the check to be picked up. The only thing that this place has going for it for us would be the scenery.

Came to Captain Daddy’s on Sunday morning for brunch and it was awesome! The biscuits and gravy were good. The mac’n’cheese, grits, Belgian waffles are all good. We will definitely make it a place to go to again. The staff is awesome. Did I mention it’s a riverboat that’s nice and clean with a bar upstairs. With all the different places to eat I will recommend this to everyone.

I would go back for the happy hour and shark bites. The peel and eat shrimp was mushy very disgusting. This place will definitely not be on my go back list.

This place is AMAZING! I thought it would be burgers and fried fish like a lot of the places on the water around here. The have those, but also prime rib, wonderful fresh fish, excellent soup/salads. The view is the reason to go the first time, the food is the reason to go back.

Stopped here on a recommendation from the Waite staff at another riverfront bar/restaurant. Bloody Mary the wife had was great, Top Deck Margarita was awesome. Had Cajun Seafood Fritters & Calypso Joe’s Chowder — good appetizers. Oh, ya, great views, on a boat, on the river!

The weather was not cooperating they day we visited so we ate inside. Interesting place, about what you would expect from a River boat turned eatery. The bloody Mary’s were ok, but not very spicy and the beer selection was minimal. Don’t order the Pinot! We were on an appetizer crawl, so this review is limited to apps. The deviled crab was awesome, a must if you visit. It was served in a crab she’ll and placed under a broiler to brown the top. The filling had plenty of crab and not allot of filler. We also tried the Manhattan fish chowder. We should of had a bowl, but we opted for a cup, for there was not allot of seafood in the cup size portion. The chowder was very flavorful and a tad on the spicy side. Overall it was an ok place. I would come back again, next time I’m in the area.

Back for a 2nd visit :-) Food still very delicious! Different waitress this time — not as friendly or fast, but not bad either. Would return if we get back to Daytona area — we leave tomorrow.

went here with a party of 8 and every meal was good. Dishes ranged from smoked pork to seafood and nobody had anything but complimentary this to say. I had the shrimp boat and it was good but I should have gone for something else. They had crab cakes as a special. My wife had the crab cakes and luckily for me she is not a big eater. The shrimp were good but the cakes were packed with crab! Will definitely come back for the food and the staff.

You are sitting on the intracoastal. A warning to women with longer hair check the way the wind is blowing. It can be hard to eat with the wind blowing your hair into your mouth. Peach berry sangria a little on the sweet side but good. Pig on pig pork sandwich good. Potato wedges very good especially with added salt and vinegar. Our waitress made the evening fun(blonde from Iowa). We will be back

The atmosphere of Captain Daddy’s is fantastic. How great it was to walk on a Riverboat to go to dinner. The staff was very nice and accommodating throughout dinner. Started with the Creole Wedges. So much going on with potato, pork and cheese. I should have stopped here as this appetizer was enough for a meal, and then some. Moved onto dinner… The Anchor Burger. When I ordered this, the server gave a little laugh, looked at me, and said, «yeah, you can probably do it.» I questioned her on this and she only said that this burger is «really big». This monstrosity had probably a half pound of meat, spicy cheese, deep fried onions and yes, a deep fried piece of bacon. All this and on the side MORE of the potato wedges. My burger arrived, and diners at the next table were staring at me and my burger. I guess they were wondering if I could take a full bite of it and not have to cut it up. I certainly rose to the challenge. It wasn’t pretty, but I did take that huge bite, and several others before I finally had to break it down. I had absolutely no room for any sweets unfortunately. This restaurant is a real gem. And getting in on a Saturday night over Labor Day weekend was no problem at all. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Left a good job in the city Workin’ for the man ev’ry night and day And I never lost one minute of sleepin’ Worryin’ ’bout the way things might have been Big wheel keep on turnin’ Proud Mary keep on burnin’ Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river The truth be known you have about as much of a chance that John Fogerty was thinking of a riverboat when he came up with those lyrics as you would seeing Captain Daddy’s Cajun themed restaurant’s faux paddle wheel river boat steaming down the Halifax River(Intracoastal Waterway). But that’s okay this place is all about dishing out well prepared appetizers and entrees with a Cajun accent in a laid back atmosphere with an amazing view. Whether you chose to dine below or pull up a stool at the u-shaped bar top-side there’s no doubt this restaurant /bar thats located a little off the beaten path has become a very popular spot for tourist and locals alike. This area was designated as a river front improvement project with two fifteen story condos and a retail area along with a marina planned and who knows what else. Although the city’s vision has changed somewhat it appears the developer is staying the course and navigating through the political obstacles. Even though this bateau never leaves the dock it’s quite the destination.

My fiancé and I love this place! We get the thrasher bites every single time and they NEVER disappoint. Their coleslaw is great, it has pineapple in it and their peel and eat shrimp are absolutely delicious! It’s a must if you’re in the area.

We had lunch at the boat and both liked the food and ambience. I chose a salad topped with grilled fish and found it very tasty and fresh. The views are nice on the upper deck. Will return for dinner some evening.

My wife and I are in Port Orange for a long weekend getaway, and we’re admittedly usually picky about where we eat out when we go away. Captain Daddy’s is a fantastic find! Warm, personable service from Kimberly, who was very familiar with the menu and answered all our questions. Food was great– Cajun-style comfort food using local ingredients. We sat in the dining room because it was too chilly and windy to eat outside, and the room was warm and inviting. Some other reviewers complained about drinks in plastic cups and food being served in plastic and metal dishes– Kimberly explained how it’s due to being on the boat in the river, which made sense.(BTW, to «Chuck F», the one who complained about that– get the stick out of your butt. I’m a restaurant snob and *I* wasn’t at all bothered by it) All in all, a great experience! :)

First off: This restaurant MOVES! It is on a boat. The entire time you are there, you are gently swaying back and forth. Second: Everything is served in disposable plastic plates and bowls. Thankfully, the silverware is real. Even the wine is served in single-use plastic cups. No stemware. That said, the food is excellent, the service is fast and friendly, and the prices are low.

Yummy food, varied menu a friendly bar on the upper deck and you just can’t beat being on a Riverboat rocking on the river! What a view!
