The change at salsas tonight is not for the good. New servers were not good. Waited 15 minutes just to have a drink order taken and only reason it happened then is because we went to host stand and asked what up. Food was very bland and greasy. Taco shells were swimming in grease when arrived at table. Yellow rice had no spice peppers etc. Tasted like boil in bag. Ironically it was only 4pm when we were there not too busy. We sat at table because we had grandkids with us and salsa even messed up their bean burritos. We normally sit at bar with Ruth and have never had bad service or bad food. Tonight cannot say that of the dinning room server’s and food. We were at table AB in case it matters.

Called the restaurant beforehand to see if they’d be open late for ‘Cinco de Mayo’ — we were told they would be. Showed up 10 minutes after their normal closing time and we were welcomed by a hesitant hostess. That is until the manager(?) and a waitress sitting at a table by the entrance gave said hostess a ‘throat slash motion’. We were then informed that the restaurant — still full of patrons — was instead closed. As we were leaving, a couple on their way out felt the need to mention their dissatisfaction with their experience to us personally as well. No big deal though I guess… It was past their normal closing time, even though we were informed otherwise. But why go to a poorly-managed restaurant when a more professional restaurant(da fiesta) –with an identical menu — is literally right across the street? Ben Sinclair would be bummed! But complaining has never been so easy.

Clean place very attentive wait staff. Tacos al pastor was excellent, such comfort food with hot salsa! Ended up taking some home because I also had a chile relleno which was very good. Have gotten takeout previously and the dine in experience was even better. Will definitely be returning.

Salsa’s restaurant is not bad, but nothing to rave about. I ordered for pickup and the service wasn’t bad. My only problem was that the employee who took my order stated that the order would be ready in 7 minutes. However, when I arrived 10 minutes later, the order was not ready and waited an additional 5 minutes. No big deal. I placed an order of arroz con pollo which was great. I also ordered a couple tacos. One chicken and one beef. The beef was very bland and I would bet most people could serve me a more impressive home made taco. The chicken taco, was terrible. My impression of the chicken taco was that they opened a canned chicken package, drained it, lightly season, heated it up, and threw it in the taco. However, the Chips and salsa were great. The salsa seems homemade and was nice and garlicky.

For Mexican food some menu items are great, others are so-so. I used to go on Taco Tuesday. Who can pass up $ 1 tacos? Really though, if you expect high quality for $ 1 tacos, then your wrong. The flavor is decent, but they come out as a soupy mess so you better eat fast otherwise your going to have a soggy taco. I don’t plan on going back for Taco Tuesday anymore just for the fact that it’s a waste and doesn’t make me have the Mexican craving that I used to have.

My family has eaten here several times. I like the tamale plate and my toddler LOVES their rice and quesadillas, this is his favorite restaurant. Unfortunately the service just kept getting worse and worse. One time my server went MIA for quite a while and I found him outside texting. Another time, they forgot my sons meal and had to wait over 20 minutes to receive his meal after I got my mine. I ended up sharing my plate with my son and eventually told them not to bring his order because he had already eaten as we couldn’t wait any longer to feed him. They ended up bringing it anyway at the end of the meal and still charged me for it. Also, my husband forgot a couple of personal items on the table when we left which would have been very visible to a server or busser. We immediately called and even went back to retrieve the items and no one could produce them. I have worked in restaurants before and I always am very understanding of mistakes and mix-ups but this has been inexcusable. It sucks, because there aren’t too many good Mexican places in the area and they are falling short by hiring/keeping horrible employees and really don’t seem to care about customer service.

Service is great! Been here for lunch a dozen times and always have a polite and attentive server. Their grilled fish tacos are killer! They’re served in a build-your-own style. They bring three individually wrapped soft shell tacos with a fair amount of fish, a plate of lettuce and avocado, and like three different sauces! It also comes with a side of rice. So satisfying! I usually take more than half my meal home and enjoy it almost as much later :).

North of the Border… Oh, wait. 3.5 stars It’s good – it’s not great. But it will fix you IF you have the URGE for Mexican and don’t want to pay the La Fiesta prices a few blocks down the road. It’s the difference between a $ 75 and a $ 35 bill. DON’T go on Taco Tuesdays-$ 1 tacos-this place is Stupid-Crowded! Any other day is great. Always ask for the Chipotle sauce on the side – it’s flavorful – in case you get something that isn’t — this will kick it up a notch or 2. The Salsa is excellent but is always a little different each time we go. The chips taste house-made and I’d be surprised to find out differently I’ll rank the following from 1 to 5(these are the things we’ve tried)(5 being: My taste-buds had an orgasm!)) Appetizers Cangrejo Dip(crab/queso/onions) 3.5 out of 5 Spinach dip 3.5 out of 5(for the price you get much more dip than you do with the Queso) Queso dip 2.5 out of 5(they don’t give you enough for the cost) – AGAVE fresh in Ormond gives you a swimming pools worth of Queso. Quesadilla Santa Fe(Under Steak) 4 out of 5(with the Chipotle sauce) and I get mine with no onions or peppers – delicious every time! Molcajete – it’s HUGE and enough for 2-but it can be messy 3.5 out of 5 Ixtapa Fajitas 3 out of 5 Pollo Hawaiiano 2.5 out of 5 Pollo Santa Fe not nearly as good as the steak version 2.5 out of 5 Tacos al Pastor 3 out of 5(ask for the chipotle sauce) Shrimp Quesadilla 3.5 out of 5(ask for the chipotle sauce) Agave is still my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area – its a bit of a drive from here – but sooo worth it. The service is «MEH» typically but the food is better and the service at Salsa’s is typically«MEH» the majority of the time as well.

Went for Taco Tuesday, the waitress didn’t know anything about it. We got her to understand the special and ordered six tacos and a queso fun dido appetizer. The tacos came two at a time every 15 minutes and the appetizer never came even after we complained. On the way out while paying the cashier, I commented on our terrible service and was told she has only been working for a week. I asked if he was the manager, and when told he was, I said that he was at fault for not training her properly. He replied” whatever” and when I further tried to discuss it he dismissed me by saying” it’s ok”. I asked his name and he told me a Different name than is listed for him on their webpage. He said Carlo and is identified as Cresencio. Won’t be going back, but it’s ok or whatever.

High quality Mexican restaurant. The service was excellent. Both friendly and efficient. One member of our party of five is very picky about her food and gave our waitress a complicated set of instructions which I think I would have had a hard time getting correct. But she got exactly what she requested. The food was as good as any Mexican restaurant I have had. My meal of Pollo Santa Fe was just as it should have been. I would go back again anytime

We were traveling to Daytona beach and we stopped at this restaurant which has nice ambiance and nice music. The food was ok ok. It tasted normal. Nothing special. The price was also normal. Can try this once on the way.

I LOVE this place! I was first introduced when my book club held their meeting here. I might be biased though because I love avacado, and this place has the freshest and tastiest avocado salad I’ve ever sampled. Additionally the service has always been top-notch. Rafael has been my server three times now(just by luck) and has never disappointed. I can’t say it’s the absolute best Mexican I’ve ever had, it certainly is the best I’ve had in the area and the best in its price range. Don’t pass this place up if you want delicious Mexican and great service all at a reasonable price.

Decent Mexican food, although not quite as good as the last time I was there(about a year ago). We started with a bowl of queso. The portion size was pretty small for $ 3.50 so for four people it’s definitely not enough. We all shared a pitcher of the house margarita which was excellent. Strong but not too strong. Very tasty as well. I ordered the mixed fajitas and while the portions were plenty, you only get three tortillas to roll them in and I have to say that the chicken and steak didn’t have much taste to it. The other stuff like the beans, rice and guacamole tasted great though. Overall, I’ll be back. Maybe it was just an off night, maybe they just got new cooks… who knows. I’ll have to try again and see if it improves.

This is your typical Mexican restaurant for the area the exception is the restaurant is extremely nice with great décor and excellent service. That’s a positive but we come to these Mexican restaurants to enjoy the food. I found the food here to be average nothing I’d call authentic but that’s what sells in the area that’s apparent by the amount of Mexican restaurants serving the same food. The chips and salsa were average at best I tried both the one that your server brings out when you’re seated and also the hot(the hot is pretty mild) although the hot is a different style of salsa I found it bland and it contained no more heat than the default salsa. The crunchy beef taco contained very fine ground beef not much flavor but loaded with fresh toppings but I found them to be extremely greasy so make sure you eat directly over your plate or you will be wearing it. The beef enchilada uses the same ground beef as the taco wrapped in a flour tortilla smothered in red sauce again flavorless(don’t both with this there is no bang for the amount of carbs). I also tried the tamale shredded pork cooked tender and encased in masa the masa was a little thicker than I care for but this was the best part of the combination lunch plate. I passed on the rice and beans but I looked at a few plates in passing and they looked like the typical rice and beans you’d find at any local Mexican restaurant. Great iced tea in mammoth plastic glasses and great service are the high points of our visit. I mostly likely would return because it doesn’t matter where you eat Mexican food in the area it’s all very close to being the same.

This place is always packed. If that doesn’t say something about the quality of food, then I don’t know what does! I’ve only ordered off the menu at this place once. I ordered their big burrito(can’t remember the name). It’s certainly comparable to La Fiestas Burrito Loco. It was delicious. Then, I learned about their Taco Tuesday. Every Tuesday: $ 1 tacos(beef or chicken) and $ 1 domestic draft beers. Win! Their tacos are awesome! Best tacos in this area. You can only get the hard shell tacos for the $ 1 deal, but they are perfect. Generally I prefer soft tacos, but Salsa’s hard shell tacos have won me over! Service is pretty quick here, too. If you come for Taco Tuesday you’ll probably have a little bit of a wait, but I’ve come here before with as much as a party of 8 while they were packed, and still only had to wait 20 minutes. The tacos and beers come out quickly!

I eat here so much now that when my son is born in March, he just may think he’s Mexican! I love, love, love the food! The staff is always friendly & now they know us when we walk in & ask, «Your regular?» My BF tried his 1st Margeritas here the other night during their Happy Hour 2 for 1& they were so strong that he was tipsy when we left. I tried their Virgin Strawberry Daqueri & a Virgin Pina Coloda & hafta say YUMMY! My 1st virgin drinks ever to be honest & I could have drank 5 or 6 more if I’d have had room after the food came. I just love this place & would drive out of my way if I ever had to just to sit in there & stuff my face with their delish food. If your order isn’t right when you get it, they happily & graciously take it back & bring you a new order within minutes, all fresh & steamy. Also I got a chance to look around in the kitchen & gotta say I am very impressed with how clean they keep it, even during their dinner rush. No scrap food on the floors, every counter top & surface shiny & clean, dirty dishes nowhere in sight… I feel safe eating here.

I, for one, am glad that Salsa’s is the neighborhood! It’s nice to have another option besides the nearby competitor. Salsa’s is actually a local chain with 6 or so stores in the surrounding areas. Salsa’s is lovely inside. The location is where Woody’s used to be in Port Orange and they have done a marvelous job with the interior! The servers are an energetic group but it seems that you have to really interact with them to get the type of service that you need. Otherwise, they may assume that you don’t need to be bothered during your meal. The food is great, hot, fresh, and seasoned well. I ordered one of my favorites, to-go, from the lunch menu — Enchiladas Verde! I was extremely pleased with my meal! The enchiladas were so tasty.(I can’t seem to appreciate bland food.) And, the enchiladas weren’t soggy. Yay for that! My meal was served with beans, rice, and guacamole salad, all of which I enjoyed. The chips weren’t that great. And I asked for the spicy salsa and they brought this wonderful, smoky, salsa that I fell in love with! Hats off to whoever concocted that recipe! When I was there, a gentleman was ordering enough take out to feed a very large group of 20 or more people. He was accommodated very well. It’s good to know that they don’t mind preparing«to-go» food for large parties. There is plenty of parking, flat screens and a bar. Welcome to the neighborhood, Salsa’s!
