I visited this store of a recent vacation to Seattle. I actually walked the 1.5+ miles from downtown to get to this store so you can consider me a die hard yarn addict! The store is large(size), airy and comfortable. The staff was very welcoming and friendly but not pushy or hovering. The yarn selection was good, solid basic yarns that folks would use for everyday items. There was a lot of Cascade yarn which I found to be the case in two of the three greater Seattle stores I visited and not surprising as Cascade Yarns is a WA state company. There was a group of women sitting around a table knitting and folks were working on different things so I didn’t think it was a class. As I waited for the skein of yarn I purchased to be wound into a cake I joined the knitters and visited for a while. Everyone was very friendly and I was welcomed without any issue even though I was working on a sock from yarn purchased elsewhere.(I’ve been in shops that don’t allow you to knit with yarns that you bought else where or they charge a nominal fee to do so. When you’re traveling you probably have purchased the yarn elsewhere which was case with my project.) One of the staff was at the table knitting and as we all got to talking etc. I was offered free patterns from previous knit alongs, shown the shop samples of previous knit alongs and was invited to return the next day to knit with the«sock knitting» group. I really enjoyed my visit. All in all it was a very nice visit and I’m glad I walked the 3+ miles roundtrip to visit the store. I would go back if I were in Port Orchard on my own again! DH would not consider walking 3 miles to visit a yarn store with me LOL!

If you’re looking for some cheap acrylic this isn’t your store. If you want a nice variety of great quality yarn this is the place to go to! There is SOOOO much to chose from! I could just walk around admiring the beautiful soft yarn for hours. The employees are really friendly and they offer a lot of classes and ‘knitting circles’.

They were very nice and had a small, but serviceable amount of yarn. Small offering of handmaiden, blue moon, cascade, Noro. Lots of classes and such.

I stopped in to look around and was greeted warmly! They had a wonderful selection of yarns. When I asked for assistance Gail was right there to help. She gave me an impromptu knitting lesson and helped me pick out the items I would need to complete my project! If I didn’t live so far away(Missouri) I would be back all the time!

The shop is worth a visit if your in the area. It is clean well lighted and a decent supply of yarns. I didn’t find the staff very welcoming tho. How hard is it to say«welcome let me know if I can help you». I was there a least ten minutes before I was offered help. Like I say; visit if your in the area but don’t go out of your way.

Ok, well, I hate to continually have to make the distinction and muck things up around here, buuuuuuut, if this yarn shop(& I) were in a metropolis, I’d give it three stars. As it is the nearest yarn shop to me, it is what i have and therefore, it gets one more star by simply being there for me in my time of need. The reason I’d give it three stars is because their selection is lacking the more artistic, wow-me types of yarn like Noro or even the simpler Manos del Uruguay. In fact, after being there yesterday in search of advice and the resulting yarn needed, I decided the yarn in this shop more explicitly suits the type of person that lives in this area. It is subdued, conventional, well wearing, and perhaps just a bit too hoddy-doddy for this artistic not quite 30-something. Ok, a few more reasons why I would give this shop one less stars were it and I located elsewhere. They do not allow returned needles, no exceptions. I dislike this policy. It may have been born for good reason, but I think if a person(ahem) has purchased needles, taken them home, found them to be the wrong thing for the job, and brought them back requesting an exchange 12 hours later, the person should be accommodated. Also, the shop’s name is overly cutesy and so it the building in which it is located. There. Kvetch done with. That being said… I do give it four stars and not without good reasons! They have a wide enough selection to suit your needs, especially if you don’t have the type of wistful fancy city yarn heart that I do. They also have a excellent selection of needles and other knitting accessories. Other things I like about this shop are the big community table and chairs set up for classes and generally hanging out, the couch for perusing their patterns and books(as well as sleeping children and uninterested spouses), the staff are helpful and wise, it is well organized and pleasing to the eye.
