NOT Mexican food. This is more like a cafeteria that runs a Mexican special of the day. Sure It has a tortilla, lettuce, tomato and a meat. But it lacks flavor and does not come close to being even close to Mexican. This place appeals to old folks that do not want spice and are on a bland diet. The place is clean the staff is nice. It’s not tex mex and it’s not southwest mex.

Great food, affordable prices & friendly staff! I highly recommend the chicken Burrito lunch special. The best Mexican food in Pasco county. I’ll be coming back for sure!

I went to the Gringos Café while visiting family in Port Richey. There were 5 of us at varying levels of hangry. We were greeted and helped by Brandon, he is a part of the server elite. Brandon was consistent, attentive and over all on his game. The food was very good and cooked to order. If your looking for tasty, inexpensive Mexican cuisine and great service this place is A+.

I had lunch here the other day for the first time in years. It’s so close to my home yet I always seem to overlook it. Anyhow, I was not disappointed — in the food. The service, on the other hand, left alot to be desired. I entered the restaurant by myself at about 1 pm on a Friday. There were a few tables full at the time. The server saw me come in and sit down but never greeted me, offered a menu… in fact she totally ignored me. So I got up and went to the counter to ask for a menu. The server looked at me and said«oh did you just come in? I’m sorry, I didn’t see you.» Ooook. I wanted to mention she saw me walk in and walked by my table no less than 5 times but I was hungry so I let it go. On to the food. I ordered an iced tea(it was ok. Gave me a lemon slice instead of the lime I asked for. Maybe I should have ordered a Corona). The salsa was fresh enough but I could have done without the canned tomatoes, especially with the fresh cilantro. But it was good, as we’re the chips. I ordered the beef chimichanga and fried plantains. The chimi was huge. It was well seasoned and non-greasy(big plus since it was fried). They should, however, have served the sour cream and guacamole on the side instead of on top because the took away from the crispness. The plantains were delicious. Like I said, there was alot of food and I ended up taking over half of it home. The meal cost less than $ 15. Back to the server… About 5 minutes after my food was delivered my server asked how I was and gave me the check stating she was going on her break. Good thing I didn’t want dessert. I will go back. Good food for a reasonable price. If my service is better my next visit, I will add another star. :)

Now this is mexican not to be confused with the fast food yuck of the bell. All of there entrees are home made from scratch and the flavor is fantastic. You get some huge portions and the chicken and beef are always fresh and tasty. If you’re not sure as to what you’re ordering the friendly staff speaks broken English but will make sure you get what you want. The only downfall which might be minor is the overall onside appearance. Just seems to not have a cozy feeling but the quality of the food makes up for that. Considering that there are only a few Mexican restaurants in this section of Pasco county this is the best of the crop avsilable. Stop in you won’t be dissapointed.

Had to wait 10 mins for my order. Service was ok. Food was ok. Pricing wasn’t bad. But the food came out quicker than the ordering process. The carne asada burrito was pretty good and spicy. Tried it. but wouldn’t recommend for superb flavor. A couple TVs would help the appeal to this place. Overall, not bad but not great.

I love this place. It’s one of those hidden treasures you find in a small town. I always order their chicken and bacon quesadilla. Always tastes homemade and it’s always consistent quality. Their salsa is the only salsa I can eat entirely(usually I’ll just dip it in the salsa but avoid chunks of tomato) but OHMYGOD it’s just so great. I go at least once a week or so. I’m always craving them on a Sunday, which is when they’re closed, but I love the food regardless.

This seat yourself, friendly, casual café is such a fantastic restaurant! The friendliest waitress greeted me with chips and salsa and took my order. I ordered a regular burrito with carnasada and a corona. The food didn’t take long and was cooked to perfection! Will definitely be back.

I didn’t feel like the food was authentic at all. The chips were old, thin and not crunchy. The salsa was ok in taste but had huge chunks of canned tomatoes, not fresh ones. I ordered a regular burrito and it looked like an enchilada. I even asked the waitress if my order was correct. The burrito only consisted of carne asada– no beans, rice, pico de gallo, etc. Sour cream and guacamole is extra, but I didn’t care for that. Service wasn’t that great either, but very nice staff. I had to ask for utensils and napkin. I guess I was spoiled with good quality Mexican food back home in California because I didn’t taste an ounce of it here.

After reading reviews here as driving by several times a day, I decided to give it a try. The best authentic Mexican food I’ve ever had, well the only time I’ve visited Mexico I actually had a hot dog. That being said, I’ve finally found yummy Mexican food in Pasco.

I was thoroughly impressed with Gringos. My friend and I were working a job nearby, so we decided to try out Gringos. There weren’t many people inside the restaurant when we entered. The large amount of decorations inside were a little much. Our server was extremely polite and attentive. The chips were good and the salsa had just enough of a kick to it without being too overpowering. I ordered the Carne Asada Chimichanga. I could have done with a little less guacamole and sour cream on top of it, but that didn’t really bother me. The chimichanga was hot, which was perfect for me. The beans, rice and other ingredients mixed perfectly with the Carne asada. If you’re ever in the Port Richey area and are in the mood for some very good Mexican food, I highly recommend hitting up Gringos. And ask for Sarah for your server. She was great!

My first time eating here. However, there were a number of families in the place. The meal was below average. I am not sure it was seasoned. It was what the waitress suggested so I expected it to be good. I asked my wife about her meal and replied ok. Do not plan to return.

There aren’t many good Mexican food options in West Pasco that I’ve found but Gringos is probably one of the best I’ve tried. I’ll be honest, I don’t know if it’s authentic. I don’t have a damn clue what«authentic Mexican food» tastes like. I’ve never been to Mexico and never been close enough with someone of Mexican origin who would make me such a delicious treat. At times I wonder how many of the people who do claim to have this vast knowledge of «authentic Mexican food» actually know what they’re talking about. Just a random thought I often have. Either way, here’s my break down of Gringos. The Chips and Salsa: The chips are basic restaurant chips. Nothing special. The salsa on the other hand has to be made in house. It’s made with stewed and fresh tomatoes. It’s very chunky. There’s just enough kick without being overwhelming. I liked it. The Burrito Supremo: It’s just like it sounds, a big burrito covered with the works. It had sour cream, guacamole, cheese, lettuce and tomato. I got the steak Burrito Supremo. The steak was chopped not sliced. It was nice and tender, really good. Gringos is inexpensive, the portions are big and the service was friendly. With only a week and a half left in Florida I’m kinda kicking myself for not trying this place sooner.

OMG! Delicioso! Nice Mexican instrumental background music. True tamales, tacos with the best homemade shell you will ever find! Steak was such a flavor that make you want to suck the juices out! Chicken marinated just right without damaging texture! A mock margarita os offered made with special wines and juices that tastes so good! I totally agree that the Chile Rellanos are righteous and not over breaded. The staff is friendly, and helpful with good suggestions. The cooks in the back are passionate on perfection and take pride in their work. They«put their names on it!» I’ve hit this place three times this year… and I live in Dunedin! If you’re in the area, you have to try Gringos! Stay hungry, my friends!

Gringo’s Café is about six blocks away from my home and THANKGOODNESS! This place has been around since the 90’s and we indulge in their Mexican goodness all the time. The restaurant itself is nothing to look at aesthetically, but it’s clean with tables and chairs and once you eat the food, you could care less what the room looks like. DON’T be a mexican food snob and look around and see that there are not a lot of ethnic people working there. Doesn’t matter. The people who ARE there know exactly what they are doing and they do it well. I wouldn’t title them as «mexican food» per se, anyway. I would say more«Southwestern». A little history via Gringo’s: «Did you know that Chimchangas were invented in Tucson, Arizona? And burritos were made by Pueblo Indians long before Spanish Conquistadores arrived. In fact, many delicious foods thought to be „Mexican“ were actually first created in the United States. Our cuisine is a flavorful blending of Mexican, American Indian, and European influences.» Enough of the lesson, let’s get to the FOOD! First of all, if you are eating in, expect the service to be a little slow. But, the food is definitely worth the wait. If you are ordering it for take out, make sure to give yourself at least 20 minutes before pick up. Their portions are enormous. One combo dish is enough to sate your appetite and give you plenty to take home for lunch the next day. Their food is always so fresh and delicious. Their cheddar cheeses are nice and sharp, their sauces are spicy but not tear inducing. The prices are extremely reasonable. The most expensive thing on the menu is their fajitas grande at $ 14.99. A family of four can eat there VERY well for $ 30. Their combos range from $ 6.79 to $ 9.19 and consist usually of a combination of three items: burritos/enchiladas/tostadas then, a taco of your choosing, hard or soft, beef, chicken, carne asada or bean finished up with a nice side of rice and beans. You can mix and match as you see fit, some of the combos include nachos or a large bowl of their delicious chili. They also offer sandwiches and burgers, including boca burgers for those who don’t eat meat. But, the crowning glory of your meal at Gringo’s are the desserts. Let me whet your appetite with the following temptations: ~sweet bites little fried dough with banana and cinnamon, deep fried. ~little chimi’s which are a small, sweet burrito with raspberry cheesecake inside. ~fried ice cream drizzled in either honey or chocolate. ~Then, the usual standby’s of flan or churro’s DELICIOUS! See their new website at Gringo’s is one of the few treasures hidden away up here… so for all of you who live in the city of Tampa and have to come up this way to visit your elderly grandparents in New Port Wrinkles… make sure to stop by here and treat yourself to a delicious lunch or dinner that will have you visiting grandma a LOT more often. She doesn’t need to know the REAL reason. Your secret is safe with me.

I’ve been in NPR for seven months, and haven’t really found a good outlet for my Mexican food fix. Then I see the sign for Gringo’s Café, and figure why not… When I walk into an ethnic restaurant and don’t see any members of that ethnicity on the staff, an alarm goes off. I was greeted by the attractive and bubbly Dawn, and the bells were ringing. The ringing was pretty well founded. Dawn was fabulous, and the salsa and meal was less than. The search continues…

This place has been around for years! Good food and good prices. The wait staff is a little slow, but worth the wait. Burritos are huge! Chili Rellanos are very good. The beans are definitely refried.
