The place is cute and the labels are unique however I really didn’t like the wine. It tastes bitter. The staff was super sweet and the fee was very reasonable it might be worth checking out for yourself maybe my pallet was just off for that day.

The gentleman serving the wine was very friendly and nice to talk to. The wine tasting included 7 wines, one which included a delicious mead. The tasting had a good selection, taking us on a nice flavor trip. The tasting was inexpensive. The price of the bottles seemed just a bit high but I still highly recommend a visit!

Always a stop on our to-do list while visiting Port Townsend. FairWinds Winery Port O’Call is one our favorite port’s as well as the Fireweed Mead. Great local stop and a MUST visit.

This place is the BOSS! Bill(I kept calling him Doug?!? Possibly too much of their great wine!) was our host when we decided to visit. We were the only ones there so he took us on an entire tour of their wine making process! After visiting several wineries in the past, I’ve NEVER gotten such an in-depth tour. It was informative and fun. We left with six bottles. LOL. And some really dope wicks to make all of our leftover wine bottles into cool candles! Some highlights: The Mead – WHAT?! Yes. Mead. It’s so legit, I can’t even explain it. I highly recommend it. Their Gweurtztminer was good as well if you like white but I LOVED their merlot/cab blend! SMOKING!

Michael is a very friendly guy. His wines are unique, too. The Lemberger is distinct in that its aroma is very grapey but the finish is smooth and dry. The Mead is also exceptional; I’ve never tasted anything like it! I also like that he has rice crackers to cleanse your palate.

Have been back a second time and can tell you that the Lemberger is always a hit at parties, as is the Cab-Merlot blend. The people who own and run this place are so helpful and accommodating and a joy to do business with.

I visited this place many moons ago with a couple girlfriends from San Francisco when we stayed in Port Townsend(Port Charles as they call it) for an all girls weekend. Listening to my free spirit, I decided to enjoy the sun and take the non direct route back to Seattle from Whidbey Island(Keystone to Port Townsend to Bainbridge Island to Seattle). Being in Port Townsend, I thought I’d stop by and taste their latest selection of wines since we enjoyed them before. Getting to their tasting room was a little off the beaten path and I started wondering to myself if I was heading to the middle of nowhere to never return because I didn’t recall having to drive this far off of Hwy 20, but it was well worth taking the extra amount of time /drive to reach them. Again, I was not disappointed, but pleasantly surprised that their quality has stayed the same, if not improved. If I recall correctly, the last time we were here, the wine tasting was hosted in an old barn. Now, they have a building specially made for wine tasting and a small area in the back with their barrels, wine labeling machine, etc. Since this is a small winery, I got a kick out of how they put the wrapping on the top of the bottles. It’s a converted toaster with two holes cut out from the bottom where they put the top of the bottles in and it shrinks the foil to the top of the bottle. The man serving the wine was quite helpful in giving a tour, explaining the process and each individual wine you tasted. I ended up purchasing their Cabernet Sauvignon /Merlot. I almost purchased their Fireweed Mead(which is made with honey in it), which I liked, but could see how some could like it and some could not(thinking of sharing with others while on some outing), but can imagine drinking it chilled on a hot summer day with some type of spicy cheese. If your ever in the area, I’d definitely recommend stopping by and at least trying what they have to offer.

We decided to take a spontaneous day trip up north and found ourselves in Port Townsend, which I haven’t visited since high school. We didn’t get a chance to really delve into the city(and it was cold and rainy anyway), but we did stop at FairWinds Winery on our way out. The outside of the tasting room looks like a big barn, surrounded by tractors. The inside is small and cozy, with a variety of wine-related gift items for sale(wine toppers, picnic sets, etc). The tasting was $ 3 per person, $ 5 per couple, and there was a wide variety that was being poured, whites, reds and dessert. It was my first experience with mead… very different. It tasted like candy, but not as sweet as I was expecting. I thought all of the wines we tasted were very good, and I ended up purchasing a bottle of the 2004 Lemberger and the Port O’Call dessert wine. They invited us into the back where they described their wine-making process and served some of their hot mulled wine. Very friendly and enthusiastic. You should definitely stop in if you’re in the Port Townsend area.

Great wines. This is a pleasant setting for a wine tasting year round. The owner is very helpful. All around thumbs-up!
