I can only speak to the cookies as we made this our lunch dessert stop. The oatmeal/raisin was dry and somewhat flavorless. My spousal unit had the all everything/gluten free one. It was really flavorless. I suspect«health» over flavor won out, sadly. C’mon! These are #@$#!! cookies for pete’s sake. They are supposed to decadent, not healthy. Pro tip: You make a great cookie and a path will lead to your door.

The whole experience here at Lehani“s is average. Every thing is pricey and the food is just oka. Not really what I would call homestyle, just joe restaurant food(which happens to be gluten free). The espresso is terrible, its made from some sort of «Organic» whatever, whatever… coffee which though it taste like reject is supposed to be good just because its organic. This place might do very well anywhere else where dinning standards are low but seriously this is Port Townsend! easily the snobbiest little city in the USA. Keep going, you can do better.

Stopped in briefly for a cup of soup on our way out of town. The soup was fresh, hot, homemade and delicious. Love that they use fresh, local and organic ingredients. Talking with the gal working that day(I believe she’s the owner) was nice… she’s local thru and thru and her pride of and love for her shop, Port Townsend and the area was clear. Friendly service, good soup, clean space.

Here’s what they have going for them: they offer a lot of gluten free options. The espresso was pretty good. Unfortunately, the gluten free pastries were dry and crumbly. I know this isn’t entirely their fault. Almost every GF product I’ve had has suffered the same fate. It’s a cute little shop full of locals. They’re friendly and efficient.

We stopped here after lunch to grab a little pick-me-up for the drive home. It’s a cute place, nothing fancy. The service was great, the chocolates amazing. For the first time in my life I had a dark chocolate hot cocoa and it was incredible. My husband liked his Americano just fine. We bought some chocolates, which were also excellent. The only issue was that they were having troubles with both of their machines up front — the register and the credit card machine. The food in the case up front — sandwiches, frittata, etc — looked incredible. We might go there for lunch next time we’re in town.

Pretty good, stopped in for lunch, had some tasty soups and the service was good. Solid choice, but nothing that will stick in my mind next time I’m in Pt Townsend.

Fine place for a flavorful coffee and a snack. Gluten free muffin was unimpressive. Nice friendly service. Refreshing to not see a Starbucks downtown here.

This place is not on the main street of town(Water Street), so it might not be easy for tourists to find. It’s hard to put a finger on what«this place» is. It’s called a deli, but has mostly meatless selections. It also has a huge display case filled with artisan chocolates, but it’s not a chocolate shop. Identity crisis? They have a variety of items on their menu board: wraps, sandwiches, soups, etc. They have a good selection of vegetarian/meatless dishes and the selections seem quite healthy and different from the usual fast-food type of fare. I ended up having a lentil coconut soup. It was very pricey($ 5 for 8 ounces), but it was super tasty, and different than the standard boring soup. You had to pay extra for a biscuit to go with it, but crackers and croutons were free. As we were leaving, the young lady behind the counter offered me and my group a complimentary chocolate as she was going to «cut them up for samples» and she’d seen me mooning over them earlier. The cinnamon cayenne chocolate was very yummy, as was the coconut curry one. I’m not sure I’ll be back here. In fact, I believe there was a «for sale» sign on the window. It’s too bad, because I believe that the food was tasty. Perhaps it would do better on the main drag of town?

The food is okay. The prices are a little high for what one is getting. However, the woman behind the counter was short, bordering on rude. My husband almost walked out, but I was hungry and needed to eat. Also, I was little put off by the sign telling me to go next door and use the ATM if my order was $ 5 or less. The $ 5 + bowl of soup negated the issue. I don’t mind using cash if I have it on me and I understand why they were stating it, but I believe there is a nicer way to state that.

The people are really nice who own this place. They have a lot of gluten free stuff and the best cake around(Grandma’s Chocolate Cake). The bottom line for me though is that the prices are too high. $ 5.18 for a triple mocha and $ 5+ for a bowl of soup. There isn’t a coffee in existence worth more than $ 4.50.

My mother and I came upon Lehani’s by accident while browsing the shops in Port Townsend. The shop is simple, and feels dated, but in a positive way. It was how I remember many shops and delis in the early 1990s(and I’m sure long before that). It was nice having a seating area with unique chairs and tables, and not so generic like 90% of the places in Seattle. The small menu had equally unique selections. I didn’t try any coffee or specialty drinks, but I did try a tempeh wrap with peanut sauce. It was amazing. Many options were vegetarian, and a good portion were vegan. We decided to return to Lehani’s on our way out, and then I tried a grilled portabello sandwich. Not as good as the tempeh wrap, but not far behind. The prices are very reasonable, and especially in Port Townsend where a typical burger and fries meal costs nearly $ 10. Most food items were priced under $ 7. And for the vegetarian eater they offer some unique and tasty choices. Give them a shot!

Small place, we tried the tempeh wrap which was underwhelming, and the lauded flax cookie was nothing too special. The woman behind the counter wasn’t too pleasant.

Lehani’s recently updated the eating area of their coffee shop, and now there’s lots more room, and it’s much brighter and more pleasant to hang out there. I had a GF zucchini muffin(which was really tender and good) and the next day i tried the raspberry/ginger muffin which was just ok. Coffee is heaven, and for non-GF folks, they now have one of the lovliest food cases I’ve ever seen, with wraps, fresh salads, rustic mac-n-cheese, you name it.

I walked in here today, past a crowd of locals sippin and snackin, to hand in my application and left with a handful of melt in your mouth homemade chocolate truffle samples! FREESAMPLES! yeah! I’m a fan. Support Lehani’s… and maybe I’ll get a job…

Walking down Taylor Street, Lehani’s window banner caught my attention: boasting«Local. Organic. Sustainable.» The lady behind the counter was super nice and listed all of their vegan options for us. She also recommended the vegan flax cookie,(which apparently is so popular that people request them to be mailed). I can see why– one bite and I was hooked, it was most definitely the best cookie I have ever eaten. I bought two more for the ride home!(and $ 2.50 for a giant cookie is an awesome deal). As for lunch, I went for the tempeh wrap with peanut sauce. De’lish! My friend had a bowl of the veggie chowder, which was really flavorful and filling,(and hot!). Pricing is moderate, I believe it was something like $ 6.25 for the tempeh wrap. Great experience! I look forward to visiting Lehani’s again, next time I’m in Port Townsend!

Stopped there for coffee and lunch while staying in Port Townsend. Had the chicken curry salad wrap — it was good, but nothing special. Help was unfriendly, which seemed weird because most of the people I encountered in PT were very friendly. Atmosphere wasn’t great either, honestly. Next day I went to Tyler’s Coffee House… it was much better.

This shop is sort of like a child’s version of a coffee house. The artwork may actually be done by children(I truly hope so); the seating is awkward and small, looking around at the people sipping their coffee reminds me of parents night in grade school when the adults would all have to sqeeze into theirs childrens’ desks. The espresso drinks are mediocre. And I keep coming back. Though I will never again purchase the gluten free muffins unless I have a sudden craving for compacted sand.

I come over on the ferry often, usually early in the morning, and this has become one of my favorite stops for coffee and breakfast items. They have great organic coffee and I like that its mostly locals hanging, especially early in the morning.

Lehani’s next to the Rose Theater became our refuge from the cold rain on Sunday… we walked on to the fantastic Seattle to Port Townsend passenger ferry that morning and had to hide from a few rain showers before having a great day on the beach. We would have gone to Tyler’s, but they are closed for a two-week vacation. They were clearly benefiting from the extra customers at Lehani’s but the service suffered a bit for the crowd. Coffee: Tasted good, reasonable roast, but milk was ridiculously over-foamed resulting in a half-full cup instead of one that was actually 16 oz as requested. Two stars overall. Don’t ask for a latte unless you want a small drink. Other stuff: The food selection was pretty good for a Sunday morning; John had a big stuffed tortilla breakfast thing that he said was tasty after microwaving it himself. I got a slice of a chocolate-looking cake that was apparently sweetened with beets… I love beets and thought, why not? The cake was good if a little dry around the edges. The counter staff couldn’t really describe what was in it. And why did I get a real(metal) fork for my cake when John got a plastic fork for his much more substantial tortilla-food thing? Three stars The other drinks: They had a wide selection of bottled beverages including some not-so-common choices. Four stars. The place: The café is interesting enough. Local art that we didn’t like adorned the walls and was for sale. There’s no accounting for taste, so I’m not going to ding them because we thought it looked like a six year old’s paint splatterings. :-) They didn’t have enough tables and chairs for the crowd but people were friendly about crowding together and sharing tables, so that was fine. And there were two outdoor tables if you felt like braving the sprinkles(no thanks). The restroom was clean — and they have one — not all places in PT do, which is a bummer if you’re pregnant and can’t really wait forever. LOL Four stars. Tyler’s is better but Lehani’s is funkier and has a good community vibe. Try it. It might be your scene if you can get them to make your coffee the way you want it.
