LaMotta’s Waterside Restaurant

I’m very upset about this place, went to pick up my step son and a drunk women came to me demanding me to move my f**** car screaming at me saying I’m the owner and you better move your f”****car or she is calling the cops I didn’t realize I was standing in a handy cap spot, I know I was wrong for standing in a handy cap spot but the place was closed and she has no right to talk to people with those words. My husband went in to get him and then she gets the bouncers on him! We live in port and have a lot of friends and family that give her business but I’m letting everybody know how rude and disrespectful she is!

So we chose to give Lamotta’s a try despite the average 2 star rating. It was a beautiful afternoon and it is a great scenic location overlooking a marina
Even before we arrived, just calling to see about a table, the rude tone was set. Still the sunshine beckoned, and we went ahead.
The bottom line is that service is a mess both in attitude and performance. The attitude comes from management as we discovered when got to hear the «voice on the phone», in-​person, barking orders in the dining room.
I am almost hesitant to share my entire experience since the other reviewers hit it right. Even the 4 star rating pretty much panned everything expect that she and her boyfriend love the view.
I will say the food was unremarkable, and the servers contention that my wife accidentally ordered truffle fries when she wanted Brussels sprouts defined the service and defied our normal instinct to say «really», there just is nothing to say, we were dumbfounded.
Go with low expectations on a nice evening and you can have a pleasant experience if you are lucky.

4 of us went to dinner early on a Friday night. 4 at the table. Ordered 3 hot dishes and a salad. Waitress was inattentive, and couldn’t pronounce the specials, complicated dish as Black Angus. 3 orders came out. 4^th order was a simple salad with shrimp. Asked waitress what happened. Oh I think I screwed up. I’ll get right on it. Waited ½ hour until the salad was brought. Meanwhile the other meals got cold. Manager never came over. Check failed originally to even accommodate and after complaining, deducted «a round of drinks» although one of us didn’t drink. Food is overpriced and management inattentive and unprofessional.

Went here for a drink after work. So nice to sit near the water on a hot summer night! Drinks are good and cold… Food is meh… Service not so good either. Go check it out for a romantic drink then go to a restaurant for dinner.

Simply stated, go for the venue not for the food.
Although the venue is nice, the marina is not the cleanest but that is OK. However, don’t order the food as it is way way overpriced and saying it is mediocre is a gift.

I dont come here for a whole meal. I know better than to buy an overpriced burger or entrée here. Food does take a little while to come; service is slow.
Stating this, i love coming here for a calm bite to eat. Eating a simple appetizer or two is perfect here. Ordering more basic food here means less disappointment. I come here for their fantastic truffle oil fries and baked clams.
Sitting outside with the simple meal and enjoying the water and docks is my favorite. It’s beautiful. Outside is a beautiful bar and sometimes musical entertainment at night. The atmosphere is perfect both inside and outside.
Would I come here for a burger? No
Would I come here for a steak/​entrée? No
Going there, you already know the food might take a few extra minutes to come and tracking a waitress might take a little while.
I still love this place. Its perfect for what I want. Its very expensive but for $ 30 my boyfriend and I enjoy a beautiful evening on the water with decent food.
Thats all I need :)

Nice restaurant. On the water overlooking a DIRTY MARINA!!! We ordered two beet salads that didn’t bring golden (yellow) beets as the menu indicated. When we inquired, our server, seemed obvious. I ordered grilled shrimp on the side. I received 4 ½ shrimps Weird Right?
Then we waited 20 minutes for a small Flatbread cheese pizza. The entire bill was WAY OVERPRICED! OH WELL LIVE AND LEARN. I would return for a cocktail but not to sit for a meal. GO TO PARMA ON THE BAY AND SEE MT REVIEW.

Great place to see a band and drink beer by the water on an open patio. I made the mistake of eating dinner there. I went to my table between band sets and didn’t get out until the end of the set.
The problem is the service and the prices. Two burgers and one beer with a side of brussels sprouts for just under $ 80.
One of the burgers was called a «salmon burger» so it gets up-​charged from a standard beef burger. They would not substitute french fries for a vegetable so that added to the cost.
There were a number of empty tables but the kitchen was very backed up. It took 45 minutes to get our two burgers. They forgot to put up the vegetables so they came out a bit later after we asked about them.
The whole time we were waiting the waitress never looked over at us. Never asked how we were doing. Do I want another beer? Sorry it’s taking so long, I’ll check into it.
We finally had to ask the hostess to help us out.
The food was OK, but way too much money for what it was. I get it, it’s the only restaurant by the marina so it’s a captive audience. Next time I go to see a band there, I will have my meal in town on the way.

We tried at the recommendation of a friend. We are locals and know what’s worth it in the area.
The good: great view tiki bar patio area with live music. Dark and stormy (cocktail) was good. Spacious. Good atmosphere. Haskell Stakes on the tvs in the bar so we were able to see it from our table.
The bad: food over cooked — onion rings hamburger butterfly shrimp. Taking hard to chew. Too much vinegar in the Beet salad dressing. Baked clams were pale (tasted ok). The dessert tartufo was melted when it was brought to our table. Over priced compared to other local waterside dining locations.
Complained about onion rings as there weren’t many and were tiny pieces at the bottom of the bucket. We were brought more which were a little better than the original batch.
Oh well we tried it out. First time most likely last time for a meal here. Tikki bar might be promising for drinks and the view in the future.

I thought I was fair in my review of my experience at this restaurant. I must have struck a nerve with someone named Liz B. To receive a private message comparing me to a 2 year old. Thank you for your message. I appreciate being told that I’m younger than I am as I am almost 40 and proud of it.

This place is really good, but a few things are holding them back. Menu items are just a few dollars overpriced. The quality is very high, but not in proportion to the cost.
For example, the food quality is inconsistent. I went with my girlfriend to get the baked clams two times, and I felt like I was getting two different dishes both times. The first time was amazing, they drenched the plate in the butter sauce, and the clams were baked to perfection. The second time me and my girlfriend got it, we looked at the plate and simultaneously said; «where’s the sauce ?» Also they were over-​cooked. They were all burned, and crispy.
The wait staff can also often be rude, and ignore you for a long time. So plan ahead for this, you will be waiting a long time, even if the place has few other patrons.
If these problems were fixed, it would be a 5 star place easy.
On the positive side, the food can really be outstanding. The location is gorgeous. Convenient for people who live nearby (also houseboats on the water). Lots of entertaining stuff to see, if you take a walk on the docks. They also often have live music at the outside bar. The last time I went, they had a guy with steel drums playing. It was pretty relaxing.

Mediocre Food ridiculously overpriced because of the view. Awful Service, from the waitress, kitchen to bus boys. Wait forever to get a drink. Had dinner for 4 & it took 3 Hours. Waitress kept complaining about the kitchen, but in 3 hours came by 3 times to ask if we wanted drinks. Shame such a beautiful location is awfully managed & run.

Honestly, my review is one of the longest, most detailed, but definitely not the most harsh.
Positive: I called and spoke with the manager. They kindly offered for us to come in on the house; we declined bc we don’t live in the area, so it’s simply out of the way. They were supposed to call again, but never did.
I am allowed to stress my opinion, you’re allowed to share your’s as well, but in your own review. I would really appreciate if the secret harassing inbox messages, harassing compliments, and mentioning my name in a negative manner in your review would stop. It’s been almost a month, enough. You had your experience, I’ve had mine. My review is the truth, and potential guests have the right to know it.

Ahhh– i really wanted to like this place considering the view and atmosphere is spot on. However, the drinks, food and service were all pretty terrible. The sangria was not tasteful, the fried clams were extremely gummy and the lobster roll was terrible– stale bread.
The service was also lacking… I had to use my dirty napkin all throughout my meal– even after asking multiple times for a new one.

I’m here now and not impressed. I will not return. I got the ahi tuna burger and my boyfriend got the the fish blt. The fish blt was better than the tuna but still while eating it I wish I had just went to harbor deli for a salami sandwich. Their drinks are weak. Service lacks. Sorry to be such a harsh critic but the only things that’s good is the view.

Wow, how could food be so bad? I mean seriously, everything we ordered, we sent back, the chef came out and gave us the evil eye and ran back in that room he calls a kitchen. I think he is using a micro wave to cook ! PLEASE HIRE A NEW CHEF !

I live in the neighborhood and go now and again, it’s very overpriced and the food is just ok… but I have to write to say how bad my last experience was. I ordered their $ 19 burger. I simply wanted it medium, and no the chef couldn’t get it right. But what was worse, their waitress/​manager may have been the rudest person I have ever encountered in a restaurant setting! Her name is Tina and you never want to have her wait on you, especially with what your paying. Try another place when in Port!

I received a message from someone at this restaurant that I do not know what I’m talking about because my review was written in December. If you will read my review, it notes that I was there in JULY, and yes, sir, you absolutely were open in July 2013, and the service was very lacking.
This shows very poor customer response skills. I did write that I wanted to go back and eat but I have changed my mind now!
Get some responsible management, you’re wasting prime restaurant space.
