Manorhaven Dog Park

Nothing special about this TINY dog park. It’s the size of a typical small backyard. It’s on to the next one for me and my dog! :(

Port Washington’s first dog park isn’t bad but it could be a lot better.
Things it has going for it:
— Separate large & small dog runs with separate entrances
— Adequate shade in areas
— Adequate fencing & gates, but don’t know how some of the wood fencing will hold up over time
— Don’t normally like wood chips but there is a thick layer of it
— Plenty of dedicated parking only 300 ft or so away
Things it has against it:
— No bathrooms near dog park for humans
— No poop bags
— No water available in either run
— The chain link fencing may be too short for some dogs
— Could be bigger
— Limited seating
— Limited shade near seating areas
It is great that Port finally got their own dog park finally, but they could have planned this dog park better. I feel it was just quickly thrown up just to say there is a dog park now. They really missed the mark on this one, but then again I do not know the financial constraints they may have had or what it took just to get this dog park put there. It is a good start and there is still room to make it larger in future and bring in the amenities that great dog parks/​runs have. Bring in water, provide more seating, poop bags and shade near seating areas this would be a 3 star run in my opinion. Upgrade the ground cover, expand this park and it is a 4 star run. Add better fencing, expand the concrete pad to cover where seating area is and add a canopy over seating areas and this may be a 5 star run in my opinion.
